Sorry, I know this sounds stupid. 8O
And I guess this is more for solitaries than coven members. I am new to this and I want to do a self dedication tonight. After so many years of Catholicism brainwashing me, I am not comfortable being skyclad, even though I will be alone. And I don't want to force myself to be naked because then I will be self conscious and not fully concentrating on the moment. I don't have robes of any sort either. What do I wear, loose pajamas or something?
And will I become more comfortable being skyclad over time? Right now I think all I would be doing was asking the Goddess if I look fat!LOL! :D :D :D

:p I felt the same way!! What will the Goddess think of me in all my skyclad chubbiness!! and being raised in my parents home made me uncomfortable with skyclad!!
I felt it was such an important event to enter my circle for the first time I wanted to do everything right!! All I could find on the subject in about 9 different books was the fact you should be relaxed and wear loose fitting comfortable clothing, I had just had one of those lingerie parties and had never been wore so I choose 1 and that is how I dress in the circle!! Have you planned for a long hot bath with candles also??
DON'T FORGET turn off the phone!! :D

depends...
I try to intergrate my magickal with my mundane side and try to live a "magickal" life...I wear what ever
I have some privacy in my yard and if its nice out, I'll wear nothing
But to me, it doesn't matter...jeans work as well for me as being RENASAINCE WOMAN! :D

Our tradition requires that robes be worn.

When I am out solitary, what I wear depends on the weather. During winter i used my husband's robe as it is very warm. Last night I went out and wore a long cotton t shirt with nothing underneath. I guess its a modern woman thing. I plan on making myself a robe that opens in the front. I'm not comfortable with skyclad and have some privacy in the backyard. I liked having the option to open my robe if the whim hit me. Having to pull something over your head destroys the mood for me. Its amazing how the temperature becomes such a non factor when you get really into it. Ok I'll quit my rambling now as theres men about *blush* 8O I really am quite shy.
Oh yeah, watch out for candle flames if you have alot of flowy fabric about you!

from what I've read...you just wear whatever you are comfortable in...That's what I did in mine......from what you've told me about your studies in our emails, I don't get the impression that you are planning on following one specific tradition (correct me if I'm wrong) so I think as long as you are comfortable and can concentrate on what you are doing, you'll be fine! I would concentrate more on gathering your candles, and what you are planning on saying to the goddess and god instead of what to wear......Some people may disagree with me, but that's my opinion!

When I perform rituals, I wear what I feel beatiful in. I see the goddess as a beautiful woman, and believe that feeling beautiful gives one more confidence and therefor more power. Anoint yourself with a beautiful scent and adorn yourself in soft, beautiful clothes and jewels - or - anything else that makes you feel beautiful and powerful.

I wear whatever I have on...I always feel uncomfortable dressing up for *anything* unless I want to, and I think that uncomfortable-ness would interfere. And skyclad's kinda hard in a house with 2 sibs and mom.

I have worn a robe, but I wear what is comfy because I don't want to think about what I am wearing.

hehe ME TOO!
But seriously, as long as it's clean and you're comfortable I don't see the big deal. When I'm at home I just wear whatever I've got on. Though I don't do much in the way of formal rituals at home. It's more along the lines of 'Kitchen Witchery'. But I guess I'm rambling now so... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
hehe
