I have a question, are there any examples of demonic possession in ancient Egypt, or was it believed in?. I'm quite interested in demonic possession (at the moment, I'm watching a show on 'A Haunting - the Possessed' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbNI1t3I3WE&feature=related), a Discovery programme on Youtube, which is quite cool, but I'd really be interested to know about demonic possession in ancient Egypt and also what types of exorcism's they practiced. In Sumer, and other Mesopotamian cultures, demonic possession was common and was believed in (there's actually quite a few different demons and ghosts that can possess you), so I know a bit about that (and I'm still learning from a very knowledgable guy), but I'd love to know more about it in ancient Egypt.

Are there any tales of Apep or other similar entities possessing people, like you sometimes have some people saying Satan possesses them or was it more "smaller" demonic entities that possessed people?.

Anyway, thanks for any help as I'd really appreciate any information you can share.

The only story I have come across is in Tales of Ancient Egypt published by Puffin. There's a story of a princess that gets possessed by a demon that paralyses her. The god Khonsu is called to drive the demon out.

I have heard on other forums about evil entities. I forget what they are called....begins with an 'M'.

Muuet. They aren't exactly demons - they're "restless dead", "angry ghosts". But it's pretty close in a lot of ways.
