I can vouch for this one. It's wierd to be feeling like crapola or really ticked off and have someone log on to the computer and before you can even type an IM, the message "WHAT'S WRONG" pops up on your screen. ;) :D But I appreciate it :)

My specialty....hmmmmm....
I'm an empath mostly. I can also read animals very well. Been seeing/hearing/talking to ghosts and spirits since I was very little. I studied psychic abilities for a few years before I became pagan. I read tarot cards pretty well...but the Empathy is the 1 that really sticks out. I agree that it feels like a curse sometimes. The other odd thing which I got from my mom..is when I am very upset or mad...I get electric. I am not allowed on the computer, near the TV, near the CD player...and especially not near light switches or lights. I am notorious for blowing out lightbulbs. *shrugs*

I'm an empath. It's a blessing and a curse. I hate feeling other people's misery, but when they're happy, it's beautiful.
I also heal. Plus I'm a good listener and advice-giver, so healing goes beyond just the physical healing.
I wouldn't trade either of my blessings for anything.

hmm. . . I can do a little healing. . . I can make things out of energy, always did that as a little kid. . . "imaginary" things *chuckles*
What my talent really is, is 'remembering', so to speak. . . now, personally, I have something of a bad memory. But. . . *frowns* how to put this. . . Sometimes, I can remember things for other people. . . sort of. . . . look into their old memories, sort of reach into those memories, maybe see the world around when they came from. . . or follow an emotional tie someone has with someone else. . . it's hard to describe. And, unfortunately, a lot of the time when I'm trying to tell them about it, I end up speaking in metaphores, because what is actually there, and what I can see, sometimes differ or do not make sense to me. But I've startled enough people to think that maybe I'm somewhat accurate at it. Not sure exactly what I'd use it for. . . :)

I read tarot cards really well, unfortunately I don't get to do it as often as I'd like though. I'm also an emapath, but I consider it a blessing more than a curse. I have strong shields so I don't get assaulted by the emotions people unknowingly send out, and the only time I'm bothered by it is if it's someone I'm really closed to, or if I'm in a large group of unhappy people.

I wouldn't say I'm an empath, I pick up on peoples feelings pretty well, but I can also be a bit critical when people are feeling sorry for themselves too long. I have a few electrical problems as well. I never go outside during a storm. I have been caught in the lightening field too many times. I blow lightbulbs, toasters, fans..... I think my specialty when I allow myself is I know things. Sometimes I can know if you are just near me, but when I touch people or they touch me it's like being thrown over Niagra. It makes my head spin and I have been known to get physically ill. The funny thing is I know nothing when it comes to my children or parents, I think it is the blood link.
I remember when I was very little my grandmother had a neighbor lady over for tea. She gave a hug. I started crying hysterically embarassing everyone. When she left I told my grandmother she was going to die if she didn't have an operation. She was diagnosed with cancer a few days later.
I have made every effort to avoid physical contact with anyone I am not 10000000% comfortable with and who knows what I am. People tend to start looking for a big hot bonfire when you tell them stuff about themselves they don't even know.

I am an Empath, sensing others emotions etc. etc. I am also able to sing and like change the whole mood of the place I am singing in. I don't know if this is like a talent of what you are talking about, but sometimes I find it pretty damn useful. (Considering I am not in choir and havent been since fourth grade)

Yes! YES!! ok good I'm NOT insane!!! It's like, you touch them, and. . . you can remember what they remember? or know things about them, in a different way than they see it? or somethin? lol that's part of what I was trying to say. . .
Last christmas, I saw my grandpa. . . there was something about him. . . I just kind of knew something was wrong. . . and I asked him about it, I said "are you ok grandpa?" and I must've looked really worried because he looked almost scared, and said he was fine. . . I couldn't get over the feeling like he was near-death or something. . . I couldn't understand it and it got me so upset. I remember thinking something like "another christmas, maybe two, but. . . " oh how it scared me!
well. . . in february, he had to have surgery on his heart. A big scary bypass thingie. . . (can't remember exactly what, a quadruple bypass or something). He was in the hospital quite a while, and looked more frail the next time I saw him.
I don't know yet. I really hope I'm wrong. But it was such a strong feeling. . . :( I hope I'm wrong.

I don't know that I have a specialty... The only thing I can think of is that I've always been good with animals. I was one of those kids who rescues injured birds and bunny rabbits - and what's more, they actually would get better instead of pining away and dying. I've never been afraid of any animals or insects - I'm quite happy to pick up spiders, worms, slugs, snakes*, whatever. And, as silly as this might sound, most animals seem to like me, or at least be fairly comfortable with me - I think I give off a non-threatening vibe, or something. I've been able to persuade squirrels and birds and, on one bizarre occasion, a lizard, to take food from my hand, and I've picked up all sorts of wild creatures - hedgehogs, fieldmice, voles, etc - without getting bitten or even scratched. (Note: I wasn't picking them up just out of curiosity - in the hedgehog's case, it was plodding down the middle of a busy road and I feared for its safety, so I moved it to a nearby field. As to the voles and fieldmice... well, my cat used to frequently arrive home with a live, squeaking rodent in her jaws. While I apppreciate that she was just doing what comes naturally to a cat, I generally thought it would be best for both me and the rodent if I took it off her and released into the wild, rather than having to clean its intestines off the floor an hour later. So I did. The poor little things were probably just too traumatised to bite me...)
Anyway, uh, I very much doubt that this is a magickal ability at all, and actually, I don't think it's at all unusual either. Probably more to do with the fact that I like animals, than anything else. But, uh, it's the only ability I have. :(
*All right, then, I admit I might be a bit worried if it was a huge great poisonous snake. But grass-snakes are not a problem.

Well, I used to just call it being an empath, but have learned to fine tune it a little to keep my sanity. It is hard to explain in words. I can certainly sense others emotional states, as can Trey, our son. (more on him later) But, rather than just take on that pain, joy, whatever and deal with it myself, I have developed my own way of dealing with it that is most beneficial to all.
For those of you familiar with tarot, it is like the Magician card. I act as a conductor. If someone is upset and I feel that they need to talk, I have to first make sure that I am very grounded and not likely to get "involved" to a degree of damage rather than help. I then let them tell me the problem and encourage them without taking a position as their alli. Somehow I find the right words and combination of laughter, etc to put them in a better frame of mind regarding the topic. I DO NOT give advice...merely help them find their way to clearer thinking when possible. Kind of like what psycho-therapy is intended to do, but somehow always misses.
No, this doesn't always work. I try to recognize when it wont because of my own energy and avoid it alltogether. Also, there are times when the other person has their own blocks up and they cannot allow the exchange of energy to flow through me to them. No, it is not me that is "working magik", I am merely a vessel, open to a higher vibration of energy. When it works it is uplifting for me as well, and when it gets blocked by the person it is like a tidal wave crashing back down on you...kind of sucks when you aren't expecting it. I have to say though, it is better than just feeling others emotions and not knowing or being able to intervene in any way.
Trey, our six year old is a remarkable child and I know he has many gifts that we can't fully grasp. I think a lot of children do...I just hope he can hold onto them and develop them rather than outgrow them. He is an extreme empath. If he sees another child crying from across the room...he is in tears and can't take his eyes off them. He talks to someone a lot of nights and has even had his rocking chair pulled up next to his pillow with his hand resting on it. He had a twin brother who died in the womb and I often wonder if they are still connected. He does use a lot of his own language, like twinspeak...only no other twin to physically hear.
At the metaphysical fair last week-end he showed us his profound love and knowledge of stones and crystals. Neither Mol or I have really ever used stones or crystals in divination, but he was drawn to them like a magnet. He kept picking them up and holding them and telling us to feel them and see how 'well they feel". He chose several rocks to take home and he plays with them every day...holding them to the light and turning them in circles and laying them in little patterns on the floor.
Someday, he can write his own post here and tell us what is going on inside that head of his!

I am an empath. My parents used to go absolutely insane with me, because I couldn't even ride the bus, and see someone upset, without crying myself. I've learned to shield some of this for my own protection, but those who know me best, know that even today, I wear my heart on my sleeve, and almost TOO often, will get myself involved in difficult circumstances, because I can't ignore a silent or verbalized plea for help. It hurts too much sometimes, to walk away.
I also have an odd ability to read a persons past, without meaning to. This has given me trouble on several occassions, and I've had to learn to try to block it out. And if I CANT block it out, then I've had to learn to keep my mouth shut about it. Clarification: For instance, I once had a dream about a coworker of mine, shooting heroine in the employee parking lot. I thought it was just a crazy dream, and related the dream to him the next day. He grew really pale, and freaked out on me. I found out later that day, that indeed, five years before, he'd had to go to rehab because he'd been caught shooting heroine in the employee parking lot. He'd been hired back after rehab. Sometimes, it comes to me in the form of dreams, sometimes, not. Sometimes it's just scattered images i'll see in my mind while looking at someone.
I also read tarot cards.
And just recently, had a very odd "Channelling" experience very similar to what John Edwards does. My downstairs neighbor is having a very difficult situation in her life right now, and was telling me how much she wished she could know that her mom was there watching over her. The temp in the room dropped about ten degrees, our hair stood up on our arms, and you could definitely feel a presence in the room. So we pulled out the ouija. At first, her mother seemed to be coming through on the ouija ok..but then it started to get confusing, so we put the ouija aside, and all of a sudden, I started asking shannon questions, such as "Who is Jack" "Your mother's favorite pajamas were blue with white flowers on them". "She had a 'thing' about using all lemon cleansers in her house, and she loved lemon flavored things too." and "the song played at her funeral was....". and everything I said, was one hundred percent verified. It was truly her mom coming through to let shannon know she was still watching over her. Oddly enough, shannon was wearing her mothers rings that night, which she doesn't usually do. This has never happened to me before in quite this way. It went on for about two hours, it was a verrrrrrry odd experience. Last night, shannon played a tape that her mom had made for her just before her death, in which a hospice worker was interviewing her about shannon, trying to get her to basically say all that she wanted/needed to say to shannon, so shannon could always have this tape to listen to. On the tape, her mother said..."Shannon, I will always be here for you. No matter what happens. I am not going to be here in body, but I will always be here in spirit. Even if you just want to say 'goodnight mom' i'll hear you. You may have problems in your life, we all do. But I know you have it in you to have a very happy life. No matter what happens, you will be ok. And I will be with you in your heart". I got the chills up and down my spine, because hearing that tape, just totally verified the things that had come to me that night after using the ouija, and completely explained why her mother was able to "come through". The relationship shannon and her mother had was extremely strong, and close. So knowing that I could be used as a vessel to remind shannon of that deep and abiding love that her mother had for her, was truly a gift.

hmm what else can i do...
hmm..well, i mastered the whole idea of "mind over matter"...
i can ignore physical pain and strain. if i'm tired i can make myself more awake... if i'm cold i can make myself feel more warm..... but not the other way around... at least not easily... i close my eyes and make a peice of ice out of energy...and then it melts... :T . :wah:
it seems my empathic qualities and this are bound together...
when ppl around me are in negative states...well, then my abilities are negative..... i might even complain about crap like a headache or a stomach ache... or get really lazy...... etc...
i dunno, this might sound like nonsense ...
"i can ignore physical pain...." yeah, to some ppl i guess that'd sound like i'm reading too many comic books or i've been puffing some things.....
well anyway if it even is true, it's really my own fault for not studying shielding spells... so i guess i'll go find some...

I'm pretty good at telling what people think about certain things and what mood they're really in (regardless of how they act), but its nothing spectacular.
I'm just starting to use Tarot cards seriously and I'm finding out that I'm pretty good at interpreting individual cards without looking at the meanings before hand. I looked at a few meanings when i started but then i found that the general interpretations just come to me...even on the ones with more cryptic drawings. And also making connections between cards in a spread comes naturally to me.
I'm probably best at writing invocations and poems to use in my rituals, though. Never had any astounding psychic skills.

I'm an artist by profession - actor, director, and costume designer - so empathy is one of the things I've been trained to have. I can't necessarily claim it as a natural talent. I'm good at lots of things, but the majority have been gained with years and years of practice.
I'm a very strong precog, dreaming and awake. I'm also good at natural shields and grounding for myself and those around me. I'm also pretty good at psychometry - especially with people - touch them and I know stuff.
I've spent a lot of my life being scared of my affinity for ghosts and spirits, but now that I'm starting to explore it a bit, I'm cool with it.
I'm good with animals and the natural world too, but again, I might credit that with the respect for it my Dad and Mom taught me, as much as natural talent. I'm not like my grandfather, who could call birds and squirrels down from the trees to eat out of his hands.

I'm also good with horses - naturally - but I've also tapped into that and trained myself to be better with them. All natural talents can be developed to be even better. And I guess that's really my speacilty.

I'm still 'new' to this path. So I don't know if these are abilities or coincidences. I'm betting on abilities.
Empath : I think I'm somewhat of an empath. I can't be for certain, I stay at home a lot, and don't go out often. I'm your basic homebody. So I tend to keep to myself, a lot. Except, when I'm with my friends, I'm more 'open'. Once, at a target I was looking at belts and *bam* I felt like crap, my stomach was hurting. No, not indigestion or cramps. Then a few seconds later, this girl near us was complaining to her friend that she felt bad. Then they walked off and my stomach was fine.
Animal Communication : I've only (intentionally) tried this on my cat. I 'thought-told' him to go somewhere, and he did. Also, when I'm hard at work on a project or housework, the crickets will start to annoy me, and I'll "ask" them to please be quiet, and after a while they are. It seems to take longer with bugs than mammals. And finally, once, our neighbor's horse got loose, and wandered into my grandparents yard. My grandfather called the owner, and he came over with a bridle. Jokingly, my grandfather said, "come back horsey", and I REALLLY wanted it to. (I was never allowed to have a horse, I LOVE horse too). Ten minutes later, the horse was back. Long story, short, it started following me around, took a little effort of course. Sad thing though, it died about 2 weeks later. I took pictures of it, which I NEED to have enlarged and sent to the owner. And I'm not sure what you'd call this, but a grey cat came by too, once, I took 2 pix of it, and it was dead at our doorstep, 2 days later.
What do you call this? : On MANY MANY MANY occasions when driving, I'll mentally 'tell' the the person in front of me to turn off, and I'd wager, 75% of the time, I get the direction right too. My 'aim' is anyone's guess with groups of cars. It's like I can mentally instruct people. Now I can't take over their minds, or tell them to, go exactly 5 miles to walmart, and bring back 10 bags of kitty litter or anything like that.

Cats like me and want to make friends with me. Many times I have heard "Gee, that's weird, Mr. Fuzzbut doesn't like strangers normally." Meanwhile Mr. Fuzzbutt is rubbing his head on my hand and telling me that I'm a good monkey... :D
Even hard cases have been known to come around with me, though it does take much longer with cats that are genuinely frightened of all people.
My favorite was a cat that belonged to a roommate of mine. This was a one-person cat, he had absolutely no use or liking for any human other than HIS human! My initial friendly overtures were met with hisses or even a swat of the paw (with claws!) if I pushed my luck. This was a completely new experience for me.
Well, I lived there for about a year and by the time I left, I could pet him and even get a short purr - and then he would get this startled look on his face like "Hey! I forgot! I don't like you!" and then he would hiss and leave... but it lacked conviction, somehow.:D
I don't know that this is necessarily any kind of supernatural ability. It could just be that cats pick up on the fact that I love them and want to make friends with them all!
Though I can think of something on an odd tangent. My sister, who is very sensitive to emotions, vibes, what have you, has sometimes used me as some kind of "ground" or "shield". She says that if the input is getting overwhelming for her, she can grab my hand and it stops or is muted. Who knows? Maybe I do the psychic equivalent of closing my eyes, sticking my fingers in my ears and drumming my heels on the ground while chanting "I can't hear you!" :p
