I want to say thanks for the warm welcome!
I have been thinking of doing a self intiation/dedication some time in the fall when Iam not so busy.(Maybe for Samhain.) Was wondering if any one had some good ideas as how to do this. or if anyone would share with me their experiences.

HI  Nice to meet you, and welcome to MW :)
As you are new, I'd like to introduce you to a neat tool at MW - the search function. You can acess it by clicking on this URL - http://mysticwicks.com/search.php?s= - or by clicking "search" near the top of your screen under the big logo stuff, it's on the right side between F.A.Q. and home. You can use it to find older threads with information on stuff you might be interested in. As MW is well over a year old there is lots of info here, a virtual cornucopia of information :)
Here are some threads you could look at for help
http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4805&highlight=selfinitiation
http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=924&highlight=selfinitiation
http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1733&highlight=selfinitiation

you would find those by searching "self-initation" and "self dedication".
You can also find initiation and dedication rituals in many Pagan books and on websites - if you need help finding some let me know, tho if you search Google you should find some interesting stuff. Do you have any beginners Pagan/Wiccan books to look at for ideas?
My dedication ritual was just over 4 years ago. I was 18 and dedicated myself because I just suddenly felt it was right the night before my dad's triple bypass. I had been studying Paganism and Wicca for awhile before, and tho I did a really simple candle healing spell for my dad (which I think helped - not to be conceited but he was only supposed to have a single bypass and when they went in they could do a triple, and he healed especially fast even though he's had diabetes for a long time and that usually slows healing) - that night, I didn't do a spell again for a long time after.
I would say that you don't need to do a specific dedication or initiation ritual - there is nothing required, and you may even just cast a circle and ask the Gods to accept your desire to study Paganism, or whatever, or you can be really elaborate. Do what works for you! If you need more help let me know. I think others will be happy to help you here as well.

Why do I have images of Myst as a Museum Tour Guidein my head now???
Welcome to MW, if I haven't already said that WhiteCat. ;)
I modified the self dedication and altar dedication rituals in Diane Stein's "Casting the Circle" to suit my own likes and needs :) For example, I cut all my hair off as hair is very important to me. It was both a symbol of my rebirth into the Craft and a huge sacrifice. (though it's a bit hollywood  ) I would be happy to share the ritual with you in private (copyright stuff :) ) but I should warn you that, that it is . . . um . . . a specifically female dedication (we'll say) ;) Though I suppose, like anything else, it could be modified for a man as well if need be :)

Howdy! (That's Old High Okie-ese for 'Hail the Gods of Our Ancestors!") How ya'll doin'?
I'd say the most important thing to consider is exactly what are you dedicating yourself to, & why? If you can express the answer to that question, the rest is kinda 'window dressing'...

Howdy and Welcome,
I'm so glad you started this thread because dedication and stuff have been on my mind alot lately.
My husband found the perfect spot in the woods for meditation, rituals and circles. After visiting several times I feel I had permission and we have been busy clearing the area. Today we took my alter to the spot. I've been planning the dedication of the spot, but feel the need to dedicate myself as well. Still studying on what I feel is the perfect time and how I should go about all this.
(Myst thanks for all the links. Been wondering and you can probably answer, when exactly was MW established?)
