Great Goddess and Mystery, I address you in your guise of Dike Iusticia.
I see nothing but madness in the White House and in the halls of Congress of my country. They wish to start wars without provocation against countries whose leaders they disagree with, not realizing they become like their "enemy" when they propose such things.
They tell us that we are at war, but then they cannot tell us how long we will be at war for, nor can they tell us who our enemy really is; only that we should obey. Meanwhile in the name of their war they kill civilians and bomb a land that was already in ruins, whose people were already half dead.
Still they cannot tell us whether the person who struck at us on September 11 is dead or alive.
Yet if we object, the members of the president's staff, those un-elected, un-chosen officials, tell us that we are not American if we question. They tell us that there are things that we must not say and must not do and must not think, they tell us to be silent and obey, and they hand out veiled threats of what will happen if we do not.
To those who do not question, they play on the public's fears with lies and rumors, and with this they keep everyone silent and in line, so that they may do as they wish without being questioned or challenged.
This government proposes more controls on the lives of the citizens, more intrusion into our private lives, more regulation and more controls on us, in the name of "safety" and "security," forgetting what Benjamin Franklin said: those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.
They propose that repairmen and utilities workers spy on us and report us to the government if we seem "suspicious." They ask to give corporations the right to hack into our personal computers if they suspect we have their "property," that is, music.
They wish to give corporations and the rich more money, to exempt them from taxes and grant them more corporate welfare in the name of the "economy."
They pretend to enact laws that will punish the evildoers who destroy their corporations through stock market speculation for their own profit. At the same time they take money from these very same evildoers to perpetuate their own careers and feed their own greed, and they make sure that these evildoers are never brought to justice. Meanwhile, the people who the corporate kings stole from are left without retirement, without insurance, without jobs, desolate, while the corporate kings own yachts and mansions, and laugh and play at parties with our congressmen and senators and president.
Great Dike Iusticia, I call your attention to this country and to those who dare to call themselves its rightful rulers, when the world knows they stole power through deceit and deception. And now we see the fruit of what they have wrought, and the misery and darkness they bring to my country.
I ask boldly, and with all my heart, that you bring an end to this wickedness!
Let those who do evil toward millions be stopped, let them all be stopped!
Let those who warp this country's mind with their lies fall silent!
Let those rich men who have stolen from employees and citizens be brought to true justice; let them be punished rightfully!
Let those who would bind the country's citizens in the name of security, those who would steal our freedoms and make us silent drones of the state and of corporate industry, let them be bound themselves, let their plans come to nothing and their schemes be ridiculed in the street!
I ask for justice, Great Goddess, justice and truth and freedom once more to prevail in the United States of America. So mote it be, so mote it be, so mote it be.
