Okay, I'll like to get an idea of the trouble areas when it comes to each of you building your own Book of Shadows. So I can cater to the classes needs, and not just a few.
For example, is it the content you are having trouble, or the decorative aspects? etc. This will be particularly helpful when it comes to designing assignment activities.

For me, it's both. I never know how to organise things either... Whenever I write something down, it's always a case of "Now what the heck do i file that under...?" Cross-referencing things too - terrible at that!

lol..I have issues with....reality...lol..no..really..I do. I have a HUGE list of things that I'd like to eventually have in my BoS. And now that I actually have a book to put it in, its just not reasonable. My book's only like, 172 pages. That's a large chunk of the reason why I'm getting everything organized in a 3-ring binder BEFOREhand..lol
So yea..I'm having issues condencing my stuff, but I'm talking to my mentor currently about that.
And I definately have an issue with the decorative side of things. I'm...less than artistic, but I wouldn't mind having a decorative quality about my Book.
I don't mind rewriting things a few times if several topics call for it (such as correspondances or something similar) so I don't have to worry about that, but yea, knowing what to file something under can be a tough one..
Thanks again for teaching this class:fpraise::fpraise:..totally awsome idea..

the decoration side of things isn't really that much of a problem for me, since im not very artistic and dont see the need for that much artwork in/on my BoS..
id like to know more about the organisational part of things.. ive started about three different BoS but couldnt finish em 'cos it was sooo confusing with cross-references ect.. also.. separating the wheat from the chaff..( as in... does it REALLY need to go in there??)
Also, what should i put in to be able to pass on to my kids?.. how do i make it more accessible for them??

Thanks everyone. When it comes to my Book of Shadows ... its very organised. Same with my computer. My life and house however is a different story.

My problem is mostly content. When Im on my own computer I like to digitally scrap book my pages. So the decorating part I enjoy but get kinda stuck on what to put in it.

My biggest problem has always been organization. When I sit back and think of things I'd like to put in it, I tend to get overwhelmed with where to put everything. I never really thought about the decoration aspect, so I'm excited to learn more about that as well.

My problem has to be organization and content, like I have all this stuff but what do I put in?

I think my problems will be with organization and decoration. Also I would like to know what exactly to put in my BOS. I am still sort of confused on that.

Yay!
Organisation is definitely an issue, along with deciding which content really belongs in my BOS. Decoration is probably third on the list.

for me its organization and content. I don't know what to put in it or where to put it. :weirdsmil ....Decorating (especially pages, I'm a doodler) seems to come natural.

Okay. For me I'm not artistic, hence my Book is largely text. Unfortunately, at the time when I printed the bulk of it out, I only had a black and white printer, so its very plain.

I'm pretty good about organizing things, I'm just more or less worried about the content and what is appropriate decoration.

(Thanks Anubisa, you saved me some typing - lol) Oh... and one other thing, where to get all the information that goes in a BoS. I mean, I know there are PLENTY of resources out there (books, the internet, etc) I guess my thing is, how do you know if the information you get from a source is REAL (the truth) or just fluff?

Decorating is something i can do on my own, so its more the organizing side of it. and what to put in it. i have like 232 pages (front and back, so 463 total) on my laptop and a whole note book full of note. I dont really buy books, i get them from the library and write out info i can use or learn from. i swear i hand written a whole book.. lol
any way i just need help organizing for easy reference. plus what type of info i should have in it, i plan to have a separate on for my own spells, (when i get to that point.I haven't written a spell yet) is there organizing i can do for that BOS.

Amanda,
That's the one thing you really can't know. Of course in my years spent searching the internet for Pagan related things, it's not this area that you find errors with.
Or at least the creeds and history, mythology and things don't seem to change.
This will be a subsequent lesson. Also check out the Links and Further Reading Thread. More will be added soon.

Now, when I read "Dedications" I assumed that refered to who we dedicated the book to. Can we still have a page like that and put the goals and stuff in the "Affirmations" section, or do you want them closer to the front?

That's more than fine. I hadn't thought of it like that.

:) I wanted to dedicate my Book of Shadows to my ancestors and descendants.
Lol, I'm so mellodramatic.

No not really. It's a good idea and makes a lot of sense. After all, your descendents are probably going to end up with the book.
