Yep, I'm asking about your Lunar gardens.

DH and I will be starting some moonflowers in our indoor pots tonight. They are the 2nd generation seeds off some that I bought late last spring and planted. I never expected to get them to grow, but they've become very happy on the string trellis DH strung up, even to the point of absorbing and "eating" the bamboo windchimes! :T

So we're going to start them indoors earlier this year and transfer them outside when the weather here steadies out and we stop getting snow (which might not be until May...)

I thought the first few days of Spring and the Full Moon would be good times to plant Moonflowers, and I have a little indoor herb garden that needs to get planted as well, so we're doing it all at once.

Does anyone else have a lunar garden, and if so - care to share your details of the hows and whys?

I plan on planting by the moon this year! I'm not going to kill myself to do it if the days don't coincide sometimes, but I'm going to attempt it. There are some good tips in Ellen Dugan's book Garden Witchery about planting with the moon. People have done this for centuries and even non-pagan gardeners and farmers will sometimes do it. There does seem to be a correlation to growth following the moon cycles! I'm excited to see if it helps my black thumb. :weirdsmil

I got a packet of moonflower seeds, too! Now that it's spring and getting sunnier every day, I'm watching my moonflower seed for any sign of sprouting.

The problem, though, is keeping the soil moist enough to make sure it even starts growing in the first place. XD It went from being fairly chilly to no clouds at all about a week ago, so I'm still trying to adjust to the change.

I plant seeds when the moon is in water signs. Usually not within 3 days of a full moon if I'm really planning carefully. Above ground crops on waxing moon. Below ground crops, perenials, trees on waning moon.

My grandmother always planted by the Moon, and she had the greenest thumb I've ever seen. :)

No, but I'd love to get started in doing this.

Farmer's Almanacs are a great resource for planting by the moon, usually.

Yes, but I will have to elaborate on this another point in time.

Actually I am going to write an article about this for our spring issue of the magazine. It is my desire to be able to give the topic the full attention it deserves.
