The first step in developing abilities as an intuitive Tarot reader is understanding that everything has meaning, and that you can give a reading with even just the smallest amount of information.

The lessons from early on in this class are still accessible, and so I'm not going to repeat them. You can complete those assignments if you wish, but it's not required.

Shuffle your deck. How you do this is up to you. You can refer here (http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=171416) if you want some ideas on shuffling!

Draw a single card. Again, how you do this is up to you. Don't worry about what card it is, or the meaning of the card, or anything of the sort, for this lesson, none of that matters. Look at the colors in the card. Look at the overall tone of the card. Is it light? Dark? Bright? Dull?

What mood does the card invoke, based on color and tone alone? Is it happy? Sad? Angry? Excited?

Don't look at the pictures, just the colors. I know that's not a very easy thing to do, but it does get easier with practice.

Once you've got your impressions of the card based solely on color and tone, then look at the name of the card. Make a note in your journal of your impressions.

Do it again with a different card.

~*~
Colors have meaning, and there are many, many different meanings associated with those colors. The first part of your assignment for this lesson is to share what these colors mean to you:

Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Violet
Black
White
Brown

~*~
Tone and shade also have meaning. How bright or dark is the color? Pink is a shade of red, and pink inspires very different feelings than red.

~*~
Now, it's time to expand this color and tone exercise a bit. Shuffle again, and this time draw two cards and lay them side by side. There are no particular position meanings yet, just compare and contrast the cards. Are they both very similar? Contrasting? Any colors stand out more than others? What might this mean?

If you view the card on the left as the past and the card on the right as the present, what might this indicating? A dull past with a bright present? Or perhaps a bright past with a dull present? Are both dull or bright? Make notes in your journal. You can share your notes with the class as well.

~*~
Now it's time to expand this to what might be considered a full spread. The spread you'll be using for this is 9 cards, arranged in 3 rows of 3 cards each:

1....2....3
4....5....6
7....8....9

Again, you are not looking at the meanings or names of the cards themselves, but looking at the color and tone of the spread as a whole. With this block you can begin to see some patterns and progressions. First, look at the whole spread. Is it overall dark or light? Does any particular color seem to stand out more than others? Do you see any patterns indicating movement, like a flow of time? For example, a gradual shift in color from left to right, past to future? How about bottom to top, which may be seen as physical to mental to spiritual? Or is it scattered, with splotches of color in different spots?

What does this mean to you? How might you interpret this to someone that you are reading for?

Later this week, I'll be assigning this week's reading partners for you to do color & tone readings with. In these readings, you'll only be giving your impressions of the color & tone, sharing those with your partner, and exchanging feedback.

Here goes!

Card1:
The tone of the card is one of juxtaposition – black and white. Light and dark. The card invokes a sense of the unstoppable flow of life. The tone based only on these factors is calm, a little sorrowful, but not terribly. (card is Death: Arawn)

Card 2: bright, joyous, hopeful. All blue and green and white. A sense of a gift. (Ace of Cups)

Meaning of colors:
Red – passion, blood, luck, strength, life and death, ancestors, attention, fierceness
Orange – vitality, energy, courage, attraction, speed, momentum
Yellow – warmth, growth, inspiration, wealth
Green – fertility, prosperity, growth, healing, work, food, body, home
Blue – emotions, beginnings, healing, protection, privacy, love, relaxation
Violet – spirit, power, esteem, respect, wisdom, secrets, listening, sensuality
Black – quiet, fertility, rest, protection, hidden, unknown, safe, mystery
White – absorption, protection, purity, protection, revelation, inspiration, epiphany
Brown – foundation, stability, gravity, healing, potential, patience, work

Tonality and shading and hue –
pink – romantic love, idealizations, softness
pastels to me indicate an idealized vision of the true hue itself. So a pastel like baby blue suggests that the imagery of love and healing, and privacy and all of that might be a bit unrealistic – too perfectly imagined.
Darker tones tend to mean a heavier vision. Burgundy to me suggests a type of strength or passion that’s almost overwhelming in intensity.
----------------
Comparison
The two cards are very different in contrast.
The first is darker, greys, blues, greens, the tone is morose, sad, thoughtful. (page of cups)
The second is brighter, golds, reds, bright pattersn, the tone is one of patience and wealth. Bounty. (Queen of Pentacles)
If the first card is the past, then I am seeing a past burdened by sorrow and dark thoughts, and a present that is filled with light and bounty.

----------------
And the spread:
Overall the spread feels bright. I see a lot of yellow and gold colors. The left column has more blue than the rest, and the right column has one card that’s green – almost overpoweringly green. The top row is very gold. The middle slightly less so, and the bottom is still very gold, though the green of the bottom right card is, like I said, very strong.
I sense a flow from the top to the bottom and largely from the top right towards the bottom left – like a waterfall almost – with the green card acting as a break against the water – pushing the light of the yellows towards the left.
There’s a lot of inspiration in the air here, where in the past there was a more somber feeling, the present is flowing along with plenty of growth and energy in the air. The future will bring a shift in focus, but still carries the potential to be a prosperous and healthy time.
The cards of the spread are thus:
King of wands/ 8 of pentacles/5 of wands
Queen of swords/Page of Pentacles/3 of wands
10 of Pentacles/8 of wands/The Priestess

Zephyrstorm, excellent! Isn't it amazing how much information you got just from the color? Later on, we'll pull this information in with other steps to see how the information compares. Great job!

As I have the Marseilles deck, which doesn't have many colours, I wasn't sure if this would work out very well. So I'm kind of surprised I actually got distinctly different impressions from different cards. I'm not sure how much previous knowledge might've influenced my perception, but I tried to block it out as much as possible.

So here goes...
Single card: bright, light, harmonious. It is one of the few cards that has some green as well besides blue, yellow, red and beige, which makes it kind of whole. The yellow dominates, but is enhanced by the other colours, there's a kind of synergy going on. Keywords coming to mind are day, radiating energy, vitality, activity, joyful.

Two cards: The first card has dominant colours of red and blue with some yellow and beige as well. For some reason the red and blue look rather okay, even kind of good together, even though I'd normally expect them to create a strong dissonance like that. The overall impression of the card is quite harmonious again, it seems slightly more light than dark, but generally kind of balanced. The second card, on the other hand, has colours that clash big time, even though they're almost entirely the same colours... it just has some black as well. The colours seem very intense and a bit aggressive, and the general impression of the card is somewhat darker, even though I'm not sure if there's an objective difference actually. Seeing the cards as past to present, my life was more harmonious and going smoothly in the past, while right now I'm torn apart by conflicting impulses coming from both inside and outside... which is actually kind of true when I start thinking about it. And the fact that the big change in perception can be attributed at least in some degree to a small addition of another colour in the mix of things is kind of true, too.

The 9-card spread: The upper two cards of the left column have black as their dominant colour. The middle row right column card has somewhat more blue and the rest of the upper row cards have yellow as the dominant colour. The lower row is relatively balanced.
Speaking more specifically, the first two lower row cards both have this mix of the main colours that make them look mottled in a good way. For some reason it made me think of a plate full of various kinds of food which should all together make up the "healthy diverse meal giving one all one's necessary nutrients". Healthy eating habits is something I'm actually trying to develop btw. The lower row right column card had bigger discrete sections of each colour (red, yellow, blue, black) which were connected to each other and made a whole. Here the colours feel much more intense again, although they don't clash nearly as much as on the card I mentioned in the two-card section. This one does feel very active, though, and there is a slight friction.
The upper and middle row are somewhat more interconnected. Both start with a darker card, although the one of the middle row has more yellow and red (indicating externally-directed activity) while the upper row one has more blue (internally-focused, peaceful). The card in the upper row right column and the card in the middle row middle column both have yellow dominate, and as it's mixed with black lines, it looks more solid than radiant. At first I thought I'd not get any impressions from these two at all, as they seemed like they had nothing to say colour-wise. When I actually looked at them a bit longer, I was surprised to realise the yellow bits were surrounded by a mix of red and blue which was pretty intense and clashed quite noticeably when I looked at it. But as it didn't touch the yellow areas they sort of drowned this out. So I took this to mean there's some kind of dynamic unconscious processes going on, but I am unaware of them on the conscious level right now, because the more neutral issues drown them out. As the unconscious is by definition the area of me I'm not aware of, I haven't a clue if this interpretation is true or not. The upper row middle column card was very bright and made me think of the Sun a bit (no, the card itself wasn't the Sun! :smileroll) and various attributes related to it (like brightness, activity, energy, outward-oriented). And last, but not least, the right column middle row card had relatively much soothing blue, but it had all the colours except black, even a bit of green, and it was once again like good balanced diversity. "Abundance" comes to mind when I try to describe the feeling. The card sort of... felt just right.

As for the general meanings of colours:
Red - vitality, intensity, physical, colour of blood (life and death), strength, survival, can feel threatening and gives me a headache if there's a lot of it
Orange - exotic, full of energy, intense, attractive... mmm oranges :hahugh:
Yellow - bright, noticeable, sunny, light, radiating energy, uplifting, beautiful in small amounts, but gets on your nerves when on large surfaces
Green - nature, soothing, healing, balancing, bringing into harmony, beautiful, fresh new plant life, something that's been so much the foundation of everything and plentiful everywhere that we don't notice it or think about it much, but when we lack it, we start to wither inside and lose our peace.
Blue - beautiful, spiritual, soothing, deep, contemplation, looking within, quiet, creative
Violet - mystical, spiritual... alike blue, but with some red intensity thrown in as well, the relative importance of either influence determined probably by which colour there's more of in the mix
Black - can be both the dark night of the soul and the magical depths of the unknown
White - purity, freshness, perfection, sterility
Brown - earthy, grounded, soothing, modest, simple

Pastel shades - safety, innocence, youth... mild and soothing
Darker shades - more contemplative, turned inside, older, mysterious

Card 1: This card has both light and dark; it’s very colorful! But, because it’s colorful (as well as vibrant), it exudes some kind of high-level energy. There are all kinds of golds, yellows, oranges, blues, reds, and tans or browns. In general, outside of the main background color (which is blue with some white), this card has “warm” colors, to use artsy or make-up terminology. It seems like a happy card to receive.

The card is XIX – The Sun.

Card 2: …I’m so creeped out at my deck sometimes, and this is one of those times. I shuffled many times, but I got this urge to look at the card, and I received the Sun again. (This isn’t the first time my deck’s spit out the same card twice, even with a ridiculous amount of shuffling.)

Card 2 (re-do): This card has mostly “cool” colors—it has purples and blues, with a little gold or white as contrast or accents. The overall feel of this card is somber but with some bright spots. It doesn’t seem like it’s an overly negative card to receive, but there are more obviously joyous or exciting cards to get as well. It’s a very middle-of-the-road kind of thing.

The card is Queen of Swords.

Color Meanings
Red: fiery temperament, courage, anger, hate, passion, blood, war, impatience, eagerness.
Orange: the summer season, mellowness, alertness.
Yellow: being excited or excitable, loudness, optimism, money.
Green: vegetation, wealth, fertility, being content, stability.
Blue: gravity, the subconscious, moodiness.
Violet: royalty, coming-of-age, intelligence, peace, tranquility.
Black: the lack of something, darkness, ignorance, transformation, being misunderstood.
White: purity, innocence, childhood, marriage or weddings or family, mastery of an area.
Brown: being down-to-earth, focusing on material things.

Card 1 vs. Card 2
These two cards actually look very similar, only the colors are in reverse, haha. On my left, the card has gold and green at the top, with some blue as the background; on my right, there is purple, pink, and yellow, which, oddly, makes me think of Trix yogurt. Again on my left, the colors on the bottom half are mostly brown, purple, and red; on my right, the dominating colors of the bottom half are green with some brown. They definitely share the green and brown, though the card at the left has more blue. The left card also has obvious contrast among its own colors, but the right card uses blending of some colors, such as the purple, pink, and yellow.

The main thing that stands out about the left card is how dark it appears. It looks darker than the one on the right, though the one on the right itself isn’t as light as some other cards, I’m sure. As for the left, it could mean that the card is of a generally somber mood, while the one at the right has a mood of more excitement or excitability, though not by a huge degree.

If the left card were the past, and the right card were the future, it would seem that someone’s life would be coming out of a dark time but entering a transition phase where it’s lighter, but not the lightest it could be.

(The left card was the 8 of Pentacles; the right card was the 5 of Wands.)

9-Card Color and Tone Spread
This spread seems to be mostly light; I see a lot of orange and gold. A couple of cards (such as Card 1 and 3) seem to have some indication of time—their skies have multiple colors, which usually indicate sunset or sunrise.

I think the middle row (Cards 4 – 6) seem to be the most colorful, or at least the most colorful overall. All of the cards have color, but 4 by itself, 5 by itself, and 6 by itself has a multitude of colors. They also seem to have dark backgrounds on which the colors appear. The only other card that has similar color distribution is 2, though 2 seems to have more of a duality between warm and cool colors and less colorfulness in the big picture view. The other two rows (1 – 3 and 7 – 9) seem to share colors, even if individual cards contrast, i.e. the first row has a card with mainly green, another with blue and orange, and another with gold and orange; the third row has a card with green and gold, another with orange and gold, and another with green, gold, orange, and pink.

If the rows represent different stages of something, the first seems to indicate some kind of … impetus to go somewhere. The second row hints at turbulence or mixed feelings, very much a transition row. The last represents more of a synthesis (green, gold, orange) with a gained element, like a lesson learned (pink).

(The cards were these: 3 of Wands / XIV – Temperance / Knight of Cups
7 of Cups / IX – The Hermit / XIX – The Sun
Queen of Pentacles / Queen of Wands / 6 of Pentacles.)

Just a note: Outside of this class, I’ve been receiving a lot of Pentacles. I’ve also had the Queen of Pentacles in my daily reading yesterday, and the day before, the Hermit flew out as I was putting out my deck (though my card for the drawing was the Queen of Cups). And, of course, I also had the Sun earlier in this assignment. Oh, and I’ve been getting quite a few court cards.

I drew a few cards to warm up, but the first card I drew I was least familiar with already, so I'll go with that.

Oh, and I have an Arthurian Tarot deck, so spears are wands.

Spear Eight - Bright, happy, serene, very green with some blue and touches of yellow and white. Prosperity.

Red: Passion, love, bloodshed (loss), femininity, sacrifice
Orange: Spontaneity, youth, stubborn, livliness
Yellow: Optimism, energy, happiness, trust, naievity
Green: Wealth, prosperity, renewel/new beginnings, life, strength
Blue: Calm or cold, safety or regality/superiority, masculinity
Violet: Sensuality, diversity, confusion
Black: Obstacles, depression, mystery, shame
White: Wisdom, purity, clarity, innocence, purgatory
Brown: Rotten, damage, nature, nutrients

I threw in some opposing ideas because those are what I consider the different tones to be able to address. In general, I see lighter colors as the more positive words and the darker to be the more negative ones.

2 Cards:
Left card has very bright colors. Some are almost pale in hue. There are also a variety of colors. Lots of contrast.
Right card has a cluster of bright yellows and orange surrounded by a lot of gray.

The two cards have some similar colors, but those that are not are contrasting in the sense that the colors on the left enhance the brightness and the card on the right suffocates it. When viewed as past and present, it could perhaps mean past has been vibrant and diverse, but in the present it has been fading.

9 Card Spread:
Overall, it's a rather light spread, mostly on the top row. If there is any dark colors, it is very prominent in the bottom two. There is a strong presence of green, especially on top as every card is dominantly green. The bottom row is the most clustered with its colors, and actually has a touch of red in each card. There is not much of a trend from left to right, but there is an obvious trend from bottom to top. It's as if things become more organized and cohesive during the shift, as if the physical and mental is trying to break through to the spiritual. With that strong pressence of green on top and the slight red on the bottom, I would advise the person to find what it is that is keeping them from spiritual prosperity within their physical self and let it go.

I am going to be using the Mystic Faeries Deck. I did each part a couple of times, but only posted one for each part.

Color meanings:
Red: Energized, Sexual, Passionate
Orange: Justice, Sun, Sunny feelings, Happiness
Yellow: Happiness, Outside, Thinking
Green: Earth, Growing, Growing things, Plants, Health
Blue: Clear thinking, Health, Water, Acceptance
Violet: Royal, Divine, Mystical
Black: Night, Dark, Intermost thoughts and feelings, Rest, Grounding
White: Divine, Light, Awakenings, Clean
Brown: Earth, Animals, Soil, Relaxing, Strenght, Grounding
Pink: Love, Romance, Happiness, Fresh Starts

1 card:
There is two main colors green, which suggest to me growth, and pink, which suggest love, romance.
The overall tone of the card is light and happy.
The care is the Ace of Cups

2 cards - compare/contrast
Card one's main color is purple, which suggest royal or mystical. It has strong and bold coloring and energy. There is also lots of bold green, which to me gives the feeling of strength.
Card two's main color is also purple, but it is more suble. The colors are bold on the bottom and more subtle on top, which suggest to me that things are in motion, from a very grounded solid think, to a more spiritual light thinking.
Both cards have a focus on purple, which tells me to pay a closer attention to my spiritual side or to someone I look up to. The boldness in both cards give me an overall feeling of strength or the need for strength and the tranisition to more subtle coloring on top of card 2 tells me to think or at least put aside sometime for myself.
Card 1 is the Knight of Swords. Card 2 is the Ace of Swords.

9 card draw
Overall the colors are bright and promising. The card that stands out the most is card 2. It is bold and bright with three main colors; purple, red, and green.

The first column moves in a downward motion. The top card (1) is bold and brightly colored and as the cards move down, the colors become softer. It gives me the feeling that my mind may have gotten in the way of my happiness in the past.

The second column flows the wame way, very bold on top (card 2), the middle card (5) is bright and happy. The third card (8) is subdued, almost dark and pale. To me this suggest a transisition in my current mind set, from dark, almost unhappy thoughts to a brighter and eventually bold and welcoming way of thinking.

The third column is full of bright colors, full of energy. The top card (3) has lots of green and pink suggesting happiness and growth. The middle card (6) has lots of greeen and brown, neither happy nor sad...content. The third care (9) has lost of red and orange with some bold black accents, which to me suggest movement and energy, but it also has lots of subdued green which I take to mean that growth is kind of stagnat. I get the impression that if I don't pay attention to what column two is tellig me, my growth period will be short, but there is good hope for a bright future ahead.

Ten of Cups - The Empress - Ace of Cups
Knight of Wands - Ace of Pentacles - The Hanged Fae
Two of Pentacles - Nine of Swords - Nine of Wands

Here goes nothing! Using the Rider Tarot Deck.

Card1: The Page of Wands
The color that pops out most ot me is blue. The overall tone is warm, with many yellows, reds, and oranges, but blue is what stands out. To me this card has a warmth, or happiness about it.

Card 2: 8 of cups
To me this card evokes sadness. A lot of the bright colors are being taken over by black. The red sticks out to me, which feels like a strong emotion of sadness.

Meaning of colors:
Red – Passion, Anger, Heat, very strong emotions
Orange – Energy, Warmth
Yellow – Happiness, Warmth, The sun, Energy
Green – Cool, Happiness, Earth, Plants
Blue – Water, emotions, thinking, cool
Violet – Royalty, Thinking, Divinition, Spirituality, Calm, Sensuality, tranquility
Black – Cool, Wisdom, Mystery, Intensity, Night
White – Purity, Cleanliness, Joy, Innocence
Brown – warmth, Earth, Growth, Tranquility, Sophistication

Tonality and shading and hue
Pastels- With pastel colors I think of innocence and happiness. While with darker hues I think of intensity.

----------------
Comparison: The 8 of cups and The Tower
This time the 8 of cups has a happy feeling to it, laying side by side with the Tower. The blues, reds and yellows still stand out strongly. The Tower is very dark and depressing. The black seems to take over the card. The white also gives off a dark feeling of emptiness. The reds and yellows seem, hot in a negative way. The blue comes off gloomy. This might show a bright past with a dark present.

----------------
The spread:

This spread feels very war./ There is an abundance of blues and yellow, giving off a sort of happiness. Though the middle colomn stands out, there is a lot of white, or very pale colors. It gives that part of the spread a bit of a stand offish feeling, very cold. This colomn seems to throw off any movenment of the spread.

8 of cups, The moon, 9 of cups, 10 of pentacles, four of pentacles, the star, 10 of rods, king of cups, temperance.

That 8 of cups is very popular today!

Alright I'll be using the Baroque Bohemian Cats Tarot, although I might switch later to the Sacred Circle Tarot. I really wanted to use my new Necronomicon tarot but all the colors are dark and I thought it might be too difficult. Anyway....

Card 1 (2 of wands)
Dusky pinks = something coming to an end
Gold is greed or wealth,
red seems stable, like an apple in this card

Card 2 (9 of swords)

white is something new, or just starting
light blue, water soft but changing because so many shades
browns, are calm
orange is fiery, dangerous

Red can be passion, sex, lust, but also saftey and health (like apples!) strength
Orange is dangerous, fire, energy, heat
Yellow is bright, boring, change, surprise
Green is life, creativity, calmness, nature, meditation
Blue is calm, steady and stable, sneaky, illusion, threatening to drown you, a warning sign of a coming storm, royalty
Violet is beauty, passion (not usually sexual passion)
Black is stealthy, hidden, dangerous, all encompassing, surrounding
White is new, fresh, the beginning of something, cold and harsh
Brown is stable, the background, the dirt under your feet that you never notice
Gold (which I'm adding) is all about money money money
Silver/Grey (also adding) is cold, unemotional, straightforward

2 Card Draw (Four of swords)

lots of colors!
yellow is very bright, like sunlight it’s energetic
blue’s are clam, stabilizing, always surround the way water does
red is strength
orange is again fire or danger, energetic and alive
black is all encompassing, threatens to swallow you whole
if the past, then there were lots of ideas and hopes and energy but always on the brink of drowning

The Hermit
dark velvet purple, conceals you in the dark secrecy
orange is fire but a hopeful one when surrounded by so much dark
present, things are slow going but they go none the less and not everything should be shared with others

The Spread:

Things begin quite bright and colorful but slowly become grayer and duller, but end on a colorful note again. There are a lot of greens at the beginning and middle, blues in the middle and the end, and yellows at the very end. I see green as being an earthy color, that reminds me of spring and fresh starts and beginnings without all the stress. The first card is all golds and oranges, which make me think money and danger. Some of the middle blues are powerful, dark and brewing with energy, the kind of blue that will drown you but others are warm and cozy, the kind that’s like a parent wrapping their arms around you. The silvers/grey/white area in the spread is cold, harsh, and has a bit of gold throughout which makes me feel like money made it unemotional. I really feel like this spread is screaming financial gain with the final card being filled with golds, but it has a darkness lurking behind it that might suggest there are a lot of dangers with the money, such as becoming cold like the card above it suggests. And that this financial gain is possible if you follow the green, the life and idea filled color and if you progress carefully and smoothly and calmly and slowly (the light blues suggest this to me) and avoid drowning in waves of stress (the darker blues) it’ll all be okay.

The Emperor/4 of Cups/9 of Cups

8 of swords/the tower/queen of wands

Red can be passion, sex, lust, but also saftey and health (like apples!) strength

I love apples! I think I'll add that to my color meanings as well, it makes sense. And maybe even illness to white since that's the popular color for infimaries.

Using the Mystic Fairy Tarot here is my assignment which I found confusing at times since I am use to using colours on the cards slightly different..

Card 1 - Two of Cups

The tone of the card is considerably brighter then most of my decks. Based on the yellow I get the feeling of being uplifted. the blues greens and browns invokes a sense of calmness and closeness, There is an emotional connection that is safe. The Pink also enhances that there is a very deep sense of love whether it is a romantic love or family or friend type love. The golden borders and the light yellowish cream colour background colour, along with the grayish blue, green colours used in the broder an back ground enhance the positive feeling I get from the card. very soothing but uplifting.

Card 2 -Three Cups
The tone of the card is bright and very striking with the colours blue, faint cherry red, and violet blue.

Yellow in this card gives a sense of brightness, happiness,
Blue - shows a sense of calmness
The Faint cherry red colour shows there is a passionate love there
The pale green shows a connection As well as the brown
Violet blue colour - hmm I am actually stumped on that colour nothing came to me....
While as the dark green shows prosperity

Defintely think I need to work on this colour and tone more.

Colors have meaning, and there are many, many different meanings associated with those colors. The first part of your assignment for this lesson is to share what these colors mean to you:For me these colours mean different things depending on the shade so here is a simplified list

Red - strength love anger, passion
Orange - success power, energy, happiness
Yellow - inspiration, free will uplifghting, happiness, mental breaks or blocks removed
Green - prosperity, healing, connected, wisdom, growth
Blue - emotions, sadness, depression, relaxing, comfort, hope
Violet- Spiritual awakening, wisodm
Black - repel, protection focusing
White - purity, divinity, seeing clearly, death, protection
Brown - connected to the earth, determined balanced, healing
just compare and contrast the cards. Are they both very similar? Contrasting? Any colors stand out more than others? What might this mean? The eight of cups Vs the 9 of Cups
They are similar in the yellow ( they also stand out in both cards) and the shades of blues and greens which are pale. Both cards have shades of brown in them but, the Nine of cups card has more of it. The Nine of cups also has a darker shade of green in it which is very noticeable and draws you into the card. Another noticeable difference is the shade of green at the bottom of the cards one looks like a reflection of green not a solid green colour while the other one is.
If you view the card on the left as the past and the card on the right as the present, what might this indicating? A dull past with a bright present? Or perhaps a bright past with a dull present? To me both cards have their bright aspects, but when I look at the cards the left card is for the most part the duller side due to the pale colours in the card. The right has darker colours as well as the brighter colours in it so my first impressions is this : The past has been some what bright, but the future is getting brighter for the person, and then gets to the point where it is brighter and more solid .

9 card spread.

First, look at the whole spread. Is it overall dark or light?Overall it is hard to describe but it is a mixture of bright and darker colours.
In fact to me it follows a pattern of

Dark / bright/ Dark/
bright/ Dark/ Bright
Bright/ semi bright/ dark

Does any particular color seem to stand out more than others?the most is yellow then light blue colour and then a darker shade of green

As for the rest of the spread I am rather blank I am really struggling with it and I am not sure why... I think I will practice with my Rider deck and do this again.

First card: 9 of pentacles
Colors - yellow, green and purple
Mood - bright but calm and peaceful

Second card: 4 of wands
Colors - yellow, grey, some green, touch of red and blue
Mood - bright & cheerful - inviting

colors and what they mean to me:
Red - blood, pay attention, intensity
Orange - fall, a warm fire, sunsets
Yellow - sunshine, grain, happiness
Green - plants, money, pastures
Blue - sky, water, reflection
Violet - royalty, passion, richness
Black - contrast, mystery, nothing
White - untouched (clean and pure), snow
Brown - tilled earth, animals, worked wood

2 cards side x side
The World - colorful - mostly blue and green with equal colors of grey, orange, yellow and purple with a touch of red
7 of pentacles - another colorful card - alot of grey but with lots of individual contrasting colors - green, yellow, blue, purple, orange and brown - I know we aren't supposed to pay attention to the pictures just yet, but I couldn't help but notice that the gardener in this card as two different colored boots on and the ground looks pink and blue!

Position wise and by color, I say that the past has been noticeable and the present is blah or mundane with hints of unexpectedness.

9 card spread
Top row: 3 of Swords, 10 of Pentacles, Death
Center row; Judgement, 8 of Swords, 7 of Wands
Bottom row: Page of Swords, Queen of Wands, Knight of Cups

This "block" or spread doesn't scream anything to me colorwise...overall it seems pretty muted - greys and pale blues with some brighter blue with noticeable individual color splashes. ie., the red heart, the yellow of the Queen's dress and the bright yellow pentacles, the firey dress of the bound lady and the contrast of the black flag and armor against the white horse and grey sky in the Death card. Both the first and the last cards seem to melt away into the background unnoticed if it weren't for the big red heart in the first and splash of yellow and tiny bits red in the last.

Kinda slow to start but I did it! I am using the Celtic dragon deck.

Card 1: The colours are warm and inviting. Very bright, strong and vibrant. There is alot of greens as well. (card is IV-Strength)

Card 2: Second card is darker, The dragons around are bright and colourful while the man and all around him is dark almost a sorrow tone. (card is XII- Hanged Man)

2 card draw: (XVI- Tower vs. 9 of Swords.) The towers are dark and threating. has an underling tone of gloom. The card is surrounded by dark colours and the center is bright, While the 9 of Swords is bright over all and is filled with red/orange colours. There are some blues but mostly red.

Spread: 8 of Swords, 8 of Cups, 10 of cups
4 of Swords, VI-Lovers, 7 of Cups
King of Wands, 4 of Wands, 2 of Cups

The upper potion, almost starting at the upper left side, i get alot of yellows and orange, while the lower right side i get alot of grays and netural tones. Almost seems like a slow theme from being alone to being with someone. All of the cards have a bright look to them, don't really see any dark cards expect for the 8 of swords. That one is almost crying out while the others blend to a certain feeling or look. All the dragons are helping the humans in the cards as well.

What the colours mean to me.
Red: Fire, anger, lust, blood, sex.
Orange: sun, strong, intense need.
Yellow: joy, happy, bright.
Green: mother, earth, alive, wellness.
Blue: Ocean, cool, longing.
Violet: royality, strength.
Black: Unwell, nothingness, void.
White: pure, clean, snow.
Brown: ground, dirt, needs,

Whew, busy week! Ok, well here's what I have. I will be using the Llewellyn Tarot for the class.

Card 1: The Empress

The primary colors are green, white and brown. The lightest shades occur near the center of the card, while the edges are more shadowed. There are tiny dots of red and violet that contrast. To me, this card evokes a feeling of security, safety and sanctuary. The colors and tones remind me of being in the forest on a sunny day.

Card 2: Two of Pentacles

The card is dominated by blue with a significant amount of red and yellow at the center of the card. This card is darkest blue near the center with lighter blues and grays near the bottom and top. To me it feels discordant, unbalanced, precarious, difficult, troublesome.

Colors and meanings:
Red- vitality, strength, courage, passion (both passionate love and hate/anger), fire, leadership, sexuality
Orange- joy, bubbly/unfocused energy, celebration, solar energy, friendship, harvest, acceleration
Yellow- communication, interaction, focused/directed energy, thought, optimism, the walking self, the material, the present, conflict or debate
Green- Earth energy, growth, good health, security, survival, balance, fertility, history, the past, the body
Blue- healing, clam, tranquility, meditation, fluidity, transition, change, enduring love, deceleration, sadness
Purple- playfulness, childhood, intuition, sleep and dreams, the younger self, subconscious communication, the future, magic
Black- mystery, solitude, karma, the turning wheel, changes in phase, the unknown, fear, danger, spiritual evolution
White- spirit, divinity, purity, clarity, awareness, the known, the higher self, communication with deity
Brown- animal energy, neutrality, impulse and instinct, hibernation, resting state, foundation, the root of the matter, natural cycles

For light and dark shades of colors (pastels, dark tones) I would just combine my interpretation for the base color with either white or black. So pink would be a combination of red and white, navy would be a combination of blue and black, etc.

Two card draw:

Color-wise, the two cards couldn't be much more different. The left card is dominated by golds, yellows, reds and browns, while the right card is navy blue, white, light blue and gray. The left card has the darkest shades near the bottom and the lightest shades at the top, while the right card is the other way around. If I were to interpret this as a past/future, reading, I would say that in the past the person was very narrowly focused in his or her life, perhaps even self-centered, and lived very "in the moment." The future seems to point to a more expansive view of life, a larger focus, contemplation of things not immediately relevant.

(The cards are the Four of Pentacles and The Universe)

9-card spread:

The dominant colors are violet and blue with a considerable amount of white all distributed throughout most of the spread. There is one area dominated by brown and another dominated by bright yellow. The cards seem to flow best into each other from left to right, rather than from bottom to top. The three cards on the right side of the spread seem to have the most bold/contrasting colors. If doing a reading, I would say that the person's thoughts and spiritual guidance might be a bit hazy/muddled at the moment, which may be resulting in depression or pessimism. However, through hard work, attention to instinct and meditation, things will become more clear/obvious in the future and this will lead to increased contentment/well-being.

The actual cards are:
Ace of Swords, Judgement, Seven of Swords
Queen of Swords, Knight of Swords, Two of Swords
Five of Swords, Eight of Wands, King of Pentacles

A ton of swords, but I know the deck was well shuffled!

I’m using the Tarot of The Cat People and I think the colours overall are rather muted.

Card 1.
Overall colours – orange and blue.
Tone – is quite light and bright.
Mood – light and positive.

Ace of Pentacles
The background is orange and yellow and there is a lady dressed in a blue robe holding up a light made up of a wand and a pentacle. The foreground is blue/purple. The pentacle is shining very brightly and illuminating the face of the rather fat and content cat sat at her feet. She appears to be showing the pentacle off… sort of here…. look at this, isn’t it wonderful.

Card 2.
Overall colours – blue and yellow
Tone – cool.
Mood – how it concentrate

Three of Pentacles
The background is black with a large yellow circle in the top right side. The lady is dressed in a loose blue tunic; her jewellery is silver and blue. She appears to be directing/teaching (maybe) the cat. The cat is standing on a large blue pentacle and is balancing two blue (again) pentacles on its paws. The cats’ eyes are blue too.
Again this card seems to say … look how good he is… this is what you can do with a little bit of patience/practice.

2 Cards.
The Emperor and The Chariot. (I nearly put these back because my mind went blank when I saw them… but then if I choose the cards to use I’ll never learn)

The cards seem very similar but are really very different. At first glance they are both very green, but different shades and in different areas.
The background for the Emperor is very dark, a cat painted on the wall. The Emperor is very bright in contrast, even his skin is pale. He holds a staff crowned with green jewels and his headdress, belt and collar are trimmed with green jewels. His cloak is lined with green and trimmed with white fur and green jewels. He holds the cloak against him, out of the way of the cat sat at his feet. The cat is pale (a snow leopard I think) and sits with his mouth slightly open…

The background of the Chariot is yellow ish… sort of sandy. The chariot is green but the man is dressed in blue, the pennant he carries is blue with a black cat stalking on it. His jewellery (helmet and necklace) are gold but with hints of green. The cats pulling the chariot are tabby, quite dark but well matched. Their collars are gold with blue stones.
This card to me has always meant physical travel and generally for some distance too.

Card 1. Dark but with a light shining, cool
Card 2 Light but muted, not bright, warm.

9 card spread.

Hmmm not sure if I can explain this but I’ll try.

The overall colour is green with splashes of gold/brown. Looking at it, it is very balanced but not in straight lines. It makes patterns… cards 2, 6, 8 and 4 all have gold either clothing or cats. 1, 5 and 7 have a cool green background. 2, 6 and 8 are dark. 3, 4 and 9 are light. I think if I was using this spread for a reading the central card 5 would indicate the person and then the outer cards a story or sequence of events.
The spread – reading from top left hand side clock wise – as follows

Page of Wands
Knight of Wands
Two of Swords
Ten of Wands
Nine of pentacles
Justice
Queen of Wands
The Lovers

With Four of Wands in the centre.

Red – passion, anger, daring, bravery, heat, fire
Orange – warmth, energy
Yellow – brightness, sunshine, light
Green – comfort, warmth, compassion, growth
Blue – coolness, water, clean, emotions
Violet – divine, healing, regal, spiritual
Black – mystery, hidden, possibilities
White – sterile, clean,
Brown – earth, growth,

Sorry this is so late, it’s taken some time, I have 2 jobs and since my main job it the craziest it rolls over in to my second job and takes most of my time. . . . I’m going to be using the China Tarot, it’s a non-traditional deck in the senesce of the minor Arcana.
But here goes.
My interpretation of color and there meaning

Red: Love, energy, Fire, Passion, commitment, blood.

Orange: Sweetness like the fruit, happy, Fall

Yellow: warmth, bright, attention

Green: growth- Spring, Change, substance-food, money

Blue: fresh, air, tranquil, relaxation, rest.

Violet: reminds me of old day’s royalty king and queen

Black: death, no life, ending, lack of emotion

White: with this color it brings about every other color. Hope, victory,

Brown: Earth-earthy, growth, substance grounding fall.

Since I have a non-traditional deck I’ve used the major arcane
Card 1.
The first thing I see is white, blue and gold it’s bright on the top half. It looks like excitement, the card that I pulled was the Emperor. It seems as though I get this I’m watching you out of the corner of my eye feeling. With a hint you can’t do that.
Card 2
Again the first color I see is white on his face that reminds me of a spade, I also see greens black and browns, the dominate color is greens, this card was the fool I get a relaxed with some comfort.
When I draw 2 cards 5 of swords/the chariot: White again jumps out then the gold then as I look at them more closely I reds, orange, yellows as well as greens.
When I do the 9-card spread, there are lots of yellow, blues and green’s.
Row 1.
A lot of yellow-gold’s with greens: 10 of cups, page of wands and knight of pentacles.
Row 2.
Greens blues and yellow-gold’s: hermit, 9 of cups and 7 of wands.
Row 3. White, yellow-gold’s and blues-greens judgement, 5 of wands and ace of cups.
As there are cups in each row starting with row 1, 2 and then 3 in that order of the row’s and spread as well.

I'm using the gilded tarot deck. It's very colourful. :)

The predominant colour in the first card I drew was orange. The orange was dark. There was also gold, and greens, but the dark orange/browns seemed to shadow those brighter colours. The card felt a bit like an ominous warning. It was the five of cups.

The next card seemed much brighter. It was full of colours, purple, red, yellow, green, orange, brown. The card had a feeling of happiness, and maybe of celebration. This card was the 6 of wands.

Red- Power, strength, blood, sacrifice, anger
Orange- warning, danger, passion, fire
Yellow- light, energy, warmth, promise
Green- growth, new beginnings, prosperity
Blue- sensitivity, tenderness, soothing, honour
Violet- joy, nobility, friendship
Black- death, fear, misery, emptiness
White- healing, clean, pure
Brown- calm, steadfast, safety, wisdom, earthy

Brighter shades seem to be happier and more energetic. While darker ones seem to be more mysterious and sometimes negative.

The two cards I drew seem to both be a mix of dark and light. The darkness on the first card seems be coming down on the lighter colours, but on the second card it is the light coming out of the darkness. The colours of the first card make me feel like there is a storm coming, there are dark oranges and purples, the colours near them seem shadowed. There is some bright green though, so it seems that while there might be a storm coming, things aren't so bad just yet. The second card has a lot of dark blues, some gold and yellow. There is yellow striking the gold, lightening the tone of the card. It feels like there is clarity coming. The first card was the five of wands, the second was the ace of cups.

I had a bit of trouble with the nine cards. I found it a bit difficult to concentrate on just the colour and not the imagery of the cards.
The first card seems to foreshadow the rest of the spread, since it has most of the predominant colours in it. All of the cards have a dark background, most of them are blues, but a couple are oranges and browns. It felt overall the spread seems to be a bit mysterious, but it looks like some gain will come from uncovering the mystery. It makes me feel like there is a journey into the unknown coming. (3 of cups,4 of pentacles, page of swords, 6 of swords, ace of pentacles, 3 of swords, 8 of cups, 2 of swords, ace of cups)

My apologies for turning up this assignement so late.I did not have internet for the past week or more and felt uncomfortable to show up in an internet cafe with my tarot cards.hehe As of this morning i have my own internet at home which is great!^_^

I am working with Legend:Arthurian Tarot so the colours on the cards are not as vivid and vibrant as say in the Sacred Circle Tarot. They are subdued, dreamy and pale.

Card #1:
shades of blue and pale green cover the image. The Arch of the Twelve Kings, the trees, the grass, the robes of the soldiers guarding the Arch. These two colours mix with a fiery golden which paints the fire and the statues of the Kings. Feels like a good card.Preserving and protecting the past as well as the set values,a subtle glory,a glowing victory. 7 of spears.

Card #2:
blue again. This time a deep blue that touches the shades of midnight and purple.A royal blue that combines serenity, quiet power and mysticism. It mixes with the crystal white of the waters of the lake and aids clarity and profanity.I also see bits of yellow and green suggesting a prize to be gained,a benefit. A card that includes destiny,a lesson to be learned but eventually good for the person involved. 11 of major arcana,Justice.

Red- passion, erotic love, hunger, animal instinct, aggression, anger, Beltane, strong energy, strength, love magic.
Orange- not sure about the colour orange. It only reminds me of Samhain, pumpkins, oranges, abundance.
Yellow- friendship, subtlety, summer, illness sometimes, spring flowers
Green- earth,money,wealth,greed,fertility,prosperity,nature,daily life
Blue- calm,quiet,strength,serenity,good health, sea,emotions,depth
Violet- communication with spirits, visions, psychic awareness, dreams.
Black- night,darkness,wards off negativity,wholeness,retreating into one's self,the Shadow.
White-purity,virginity,ghosts,clarity,profanity,insanity,protection,holiness,empty and blank.
Brown - the earth, the core/essence, bareness, raw emotion, mortal life.

Two card draw
Two of Spears-Eight of Spears

These two cards are very similar in colour. Green,a vivid spring green, is dominant in both images appearing as the wild vegetation that surrounds the main characters. This green brings a sense of peace and quiet like when you're walking deep within a forest. In the first card nature is all-green around the figures while in the second in can also see pink flowers in blood and orange flowers/leaves. In the first card we see a man standing, holding two spears. He has dark hair and wears cloak of deep greem amd ed.His arm is stretched and he appears to be talking to the other younger,fair-haired man who sits in front of him.In the second card the main theme is a golden white hart/deer which is passing through the forest and stepping into a stream. The meaning of the cards must be similar. One has an advise,a lecture,a lesson given by a friend or a senior. The other has a message from the Gods, the Otherworld. If we view them as concerning past and future it seems that the querent is on a steady journey who is a constant adventure with many lessons.

Full Spread

1.Hermit
2.The Universe
3.6 of Swords
4.4 of Cups
5.8 of Shields
6. The Fool
7.King of Swords
8. 2 of Swords
9. The Hierophant

It is a reading more light than dark but with lots of grey. Like a normal every day life who sometimes is set on fire by sudden events or a quiet, night sky with shooting stars.I see a lot of grey, green and yellow spread throughout the reading. But blue is also dominant in a mysterious way. Cards 2 and 3 have a very attractive, deep blue all over that cannot be missed by the eye. Blue appears also in other cards on curtains, banners, clothes etc There's also a lot of cream, skin colour.Nude, bare arms and legs and also a man without clothes. I can't see a patter from down to up or left to right. Negative and positive cards are mixed in a complicated and chaotic tapestry. It looks like the life of a man who works, parties but also has majestic traits and receives revelations from time to time.

Red – passion, blood, luck, strength, life and death, ancestors, attention, fierceness

White – absorption, protection, purity, protection, revelation, inspiration, epiphany

Zephyr, I found your ideas on these 2 colors (red & white) to be interesting. I had not thought of "ancestors" as being associated with Red, but it is quite appropriate, IMO. Thanks for this. Also, I don't usually see white as the absorbing color, but black. Can you explain why you think of it that way? :)

Your ideas of an idealized version of color indicated by tone are quite thought provoking as well.

Green - nature, soothing, healing, balancing, bringing into harmony, beautiful, fresh new plant life, something that's been so much the foundation of everything and plentiful everywhere that we don't notice it or think about it much, but when we lack it, we start to wither inside and lose our peace.

Violet - mystical, spiritual... alike blue, but with some red intensity thrown in as well, the relative importance of either influence determined probably by which colour there's more of in the mixExcellent observations on the Green! Love that imagery. Also, very interesting points on the violet / purple more or less red / blue would certainly change how you react to those colors. Lavender is very different than Periwinkle, or than Fuschia, etc. :) Have I mentioned that I love Crayola? No? Well, there you go then.

With that strong pressence of green on top and the slight red on the bottom, I would advise the person to find what it is that is keeping them from spiritual prosperity within their physical self and let it go.Excellent way to sum up your spread, great insight using only the colors!

Card 2 is the Ace of Swords.Great job on interpreting this for yourself as well as the 9 card spread. Really good insights and good connections between the cards & colors and what is going on in your life. This is the kind of thing most new readers have trouble with, making those type of connections.

Silver/Grey (also adding) is cold, unemotional, straightforward Wow! Your color descriptions are really interesting. In alot of them you are indicating polarity, both the good & bad aspects of each color. Very good. I'm not sure most people would do that, as they usually just picture one shade of a color in their heads for exercises like this. It was very fun to read!

As for the rest of the spread I am rather blank I am really struggling with it and I am not sure why... I think I will practice with my Rider deck and do this again. How did you do with this, RE? Did you lay out the cards with another deck? If you laid them out again with the same deck & looked at them now, do you think you might see them or understand them differently / better? This might be one of those exercises it would be good to keep coming back to. :)

This might be one of those exercises it would be good to keep coming back to. :)The reading I posted was the 4th attempt, I really think it comes down to the fact that 1) I was taught how to read colours differently and just focusing on the colours ins tread of the entire card was hard, and yes it will take practice.

Also I think the deck I chose was hard to use, I had issues with defining colours and shades which I think could be partly my eyes and then the other deck I was using. When I use the Rider deck I find it much easier to do this type of colour reading. Unlike the MF deck it does not have as many colours in it or colours that are hard ti ID.

Right, it is a bit more... not monochromatic, but the colors are what they are, very little in the way of shading or texture. Perhaps switching decks for any type of color exercises would be a good idea. The next exercise will hopefully be easier on ALL of our eyes! :)

don't really see any dark cards expect for the 8 of swords. That one is almost crying out while the others blend to a certain feeling or look. Probably a bit to late for you to go back over this particular spread, but next time we do one, ask WHY it is crying out? What is it trying to get you to notice and how does it make you feel once you notice it. Great job!

For light and dark shades of colors (pastels, dark tones) I would just combine my interpretation for the base color with either white or black. So pink would be a combination of red and white, navy would be a combination of blue and black, etc. This is a very interesting approach. I usually see pink as a different thing than red or white altogether, it's own "color entity" if you will, but looking at it by combing the attributes of both colors is a good idea.

Your color descriptions are amazing. :)

The Emperor and The Chariot. (I nearly put these back because my mind went blank when I saw them… but then if I choose the cards to use I’ll never learn)Excellent point and good job with sticking with them! I would say that you seemed to spend some time in describing the figures in the cards & what they were doing, as opposed to focusing on the colors alone. But you did really describe the colors of the figures and how those colors made you feel very well. :uhhuhuh:

When I do the 9-card spread, there are lots of yellow, blues and green’s.
Row 1.
A lot of yellow-gold’s with greens: 10 of cups, page of wands and knight of pentacles.
Row 2.
Greens blues and yellow-gold’s: hermit, 9 of cups and 7 of wands.
Row 3. White, yellow-gold’s and blues-greens judgement, 5 of wands and ace of cups.
As there are cups in each row starting with row 1, 2 and then 3 in that order of the row’s and spread as well.Great job on the colors, behrooz! I liked your description of White, how it led to every other color.

On this reading I think I would have liked to see how you would have interpreted it on color alone, as we did in the reading exercise later. If you have time & wouldn't mind laying them out, I'd love to see what your take on it is now, after doing that type of reading, but if not (you are SUPER busy with those jobs, I know how that is) then that's cool. Right, it is a bit more... not monochromatic, but the colors are what they are, very little in the way of shading or texture. Perhaps switching decks for any type of color exercises would be a good idea. The next exercise will hopefully be easier on ALL of our eyes! :)
I sure hope so :)

Great deck! One of my faves. Did you find it more difficult to do this exercise with it, since the colors are not as bright as more traditional decks?

Also, I loved how you associated some of the colors with Sabbats.

Yes,it is indeed a special deck. I feel attached to it!I think it springs from the fact that its themes, the Arthurian Legends, feel very familiar to me.

I did find it more difficult. I begun reading with an oracle(back then i didn't know it was not a complete tarot deck haha),the Fairy Ring Oracle whose main colour is green but as the suits have seasonal fairies it is a parade of different colours. Then i proceeded to read with Sacred Circle who has vibrant, fiery, too out there colours.Very, very vivid. So yeah the Legend is much quieter than the ones i have used but i think it still triggers my intuition.

Thanks for the feedback!

LOL
Most likely I think of white as absorption because of my experience with how white works in art - It often absorbs the colors around it in subtle ways. Also with light - white is all the colors together.
Black too can be absorbing, but its a different kind - Not sure I'm doing it justice.

Ah, I see what you mean now, Zeph. White does tend to pick up the other colors around it and take on a subtly different hue. Thanks for explaining!

And you're welcome Sky!

I would say that you seemed to spend some time in describing the figures in the cards & what they were doing, as opposed to focusing on the colors alone.

I did realise I was doing this and in fact had to revise it considerably. I realised when doing the reading partner assaignment that it was best for me to take my contact lenses out/glasses off to read the cards because then I couldn't see the pictures properly but could still see the colours.

I think I read that you did that, but I haven't yet been over all the readings. I had a full day of fun yesterday, so I am planning on beginning to catch up on that thread over the next day or so. I thought that was a very innovative way of solving the problem!

I like how you said Orange = hunger and Brown = Fertility. Two words I may not have thought of myself, but they make alot of sense.

How would you interpret the 9 cards in a reading? What would the outcome / advice be for it? :)

what I got from this reading is that I started a job two months ago, and things are going descently. I waited a really long time for a job that works with my schedule. this reading kind of surprised me. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, just drawing out cards one at a time to study the color and tone. it's when I was done studying and had refocused to look at the entire reading altogether that I noticed what I felt it was saying. very cool.
the advice I would give myself is things are looking good workwise.

Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to go back & re-post that. :) I'm glad the reading made some sense to your situation, even though you weren't really looking for it. Isn't it funny how that always happens? ;)

it completely threw me off, but was exhillerating at the same time. I feel a lot better now knowing that I'm going the right direction, even though I wasn't looking for a "nudge". very cool. it'll be interesting to see what the cards say for other people. :hehehehe:

Well, this is mine. I'll do the spread tomorrow night as I can't do it right now.

1 card

The colors are very earthy and brown with varying shades of tonal hues, from light at the top to darker at the bottom. The card invokes a grounding sense, a very practical yet progressively dark aura that causes the eye to travel downwards when reading it (i.e. from light -> dark).

Card is The Hanged Man

2 cards

The first card has a dark background with splashes of white, yellow, and red. However, the tonal variation is darker on the left side moving towards the lighter right side but it does tend to be more symmetrical then not, creating a balance with only a dash of red above the center. The yellow source in the right hand corner does not replace the focal point but it does pinpoint a source of light that allows the eye to capture. It comes across as very exacting and rigid, not soft but harsh with straight lines and strong hues.

The first card is Judgment.

The second card is very turbulent with a great mixture of white, blues, yellow, brown, and a small amount of green. However, the predominant colors are blue, white, and yellow. Unlike the first card, the white is chaotic with great swirls that mix into the darker blue. Very ferocious is the swirling colors, they overwhelm the brown, green, and a tiny amount of yellow. At the top of the card, a rigid amount of yellow stands out dominating the card as a source of stability and focus. From this, the yellow acts like an eye of a storm, the balancing point that calms the chaos that surrounds it.

The second card is The Tower.

Color interpretations

Red – fiery, passionate, anger, royalty, lust
Orange – festive, warmth, comfort, energy,
Yellow – light, rigid, focus, optimism, hope
Green – earthy, fruitful, spring, prosperity, life
Blue – introspective, deep, creative, emotions, depression
Violet – spiritual, wise, guidance, faith, knowledge
Black – night, protection, unknown, mysteries, death
White – holy, purity, innocence, beginning, birth
Brown – fertility, strength, practical, reincarnation, transformation
Pink – love, blessings, romance, sweetness, virginity

Tonal

Pastels – soft, uplifting, gentle, healing, dreams
Dark – mysterious, secretive, introvert, comforting, creation
Fluorescents – bright, extrovert, painful, loud, noisy

Judgment vs. The Tower

The rigidity of color and tone in the first card clashes with the frenzied swirls of the second, creating an impact that can confuse the reader. Both cards rely on heavy tonal coloring with only a splash of a solidifying object (red for the first, yellow for the second) to ground and focus the atmosphere each color conveys.

Wow! Really interesting on the way the yellow came through on those cards. Strange that it was a very harsh & rigid yellow instead of the typical sunshiny / happy yellow. Awesome.

And I love that you consider orange to be "festive". :D

Red-fire, passion, lust, high energy
Orange-cheer, vibrancy, energy
Yellow-warmth, joy
Green-growth, prosperity, healing
Blue-peace, healing, intellect
Violet-psychic abilities, royalty
Black-darkness, safety
White- purity, power
Brown-earth, prosperity

Pastels-softer, a sense of calm
Bright colors- lots of energy, vibrancy
Flourescent- sometimes too much energy, almost to the point of chaos.

1 card draw

The colors are mostly pastel in this card. The color that stands out is a reddish-orange on the man's hair. The rest of the card is white, with grays, brown's, blue's and lavendar. The overall feeling is of peace, tranquility, and comfort in being alone. The card is the 9 of Pentacles.

2 card draw

Again pastels, no color jumps out. There is white, yellow, brown, gray, green, lavender, blue, red-orange, red, gold. Overall mood of strength, purity, warmth, growth, energy. The card is The Fool

Second card again no color jumps out, there is blue, white, green, gray, red, brown, silver. Overall mood of peace, tranquility, intellect, passion, and stability. Card is the 2 of Cups

It's hard to not put the meanings I know from these cards, but looking at the color and tone only, the first card starts with purity and strength, the second contains those but adds intellect and passion. So it kind of continues the story. or builds on a start.

Haven't done the 9 card draw yet, will do tonight.

9 card draw

Starting at the bottom left, the colors start as red/gold being predominant, then as you move to the right, changes to grays, second row is predominantly yellows with deep blues, then top row goes to gold. I see this as starting rather happy, going to subdued, moving to positive, happy, then going to high energy happy.

Excellent job, tallwoman! I like this sentence:

looking at the color and tone only, the first card starts with purity and strength, the second contains those but adds intellect and passion. I love how the colors built on each other and the 2nd ones contained the first ones. Great stuff there!

I know this was hard not to interpret with the meanings we're already taught. But I also know that looking @ them this way added alot to my interpretations. :)
