I'm proud mummy to Harry who has just turned 10 and a half months. We were very shocked to find out that I was pregnant especially as I was on the pill and had been taking it correctly. We had our 12 week scan on Tuesday and found out we are expecting non-identical twins. We are obviously over the moon and shocked all at the same time.

We have a long way to go and the hospital will monitor me closely. I'm scared and happy and lots of mixed feelings....mostly good

Oh, what cool news!!! How are you feeling? Often morning sickness is more severe with twin pregnancies..so is tiredness.

Congrats to you and your family!

Oooohhh... Surprise Twins, move out!

Do take your time though, little ones. Nine months seems to be an acceptable time to take.
Now... Congratulations, Khatt, to you, your man, Harry, your family, and the twins themselves.

Thank you all.

Yes morning sickness is all day sickness and is more intense with this pregnancy as is the tiredness. I have to keep going though because Harry still needs looking after and he loves to play. Other than the sickness I generally feel ok. My trousers are starting to feel a bit tight, I don't know why I am surprised by this as there are 2 little ones in there but I didn't show with Harry until I was 5 and a half months.

Our next planned scan is on 22nd May and hopefully we can find out if they are boys or girls or one of each. I have an obstetrician appointment on the 17th April and a possible growth scan between then and the anomoly scan.

Today hasn't been too bad, the sickness has eased off a touch, I do hope this is a sign of things to come. Paul and I took Harry to the park and he loved playing on the swings. It was good to get out of th house and get some fresh air and sunshine.

I'm starting to show already so when I'm a bit bigger I'll post some belly pics.

Congratulations, Khatt!! Stock up on salt crackers, they're usually good for morning sickness. I hope all goes well, and that you feel better.

Salt crackers....will try them!

Well the sickness is back with a vengence this morning. I think it was lulling me into a false sense of security! *G*

Re: Morning sickness

There's a whole thread on this here http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=131090 but my best buddy was Jello geletin desert. I could eat it first thing in the morning (Dh would bring it to me) and lay still for a while after and I would do better...

Don't try to drink liquids with a meal and be wary of soups. Liquids in general tend to be dicy so be a sipper, and stock up on ice pops.

Also a reminder, if you go through a really bad spell, like more than 24-48 hours without being able to keep anything down, call your health care provider!!!

Good luck and healthy pregnancy!

We've just got back from 5 days in Devon which included my brothers passing out parade for the Royal Marines. My morning sickness seems to have eased off now and I feel as though I have turned a corner. Not got an appointment until 17th April. Hoping all is well.

I had my appointment with the obstetrician yesterday. He's lovely and is the consultant that saw me through my pregnancy with Harry. All my bloods came back ok which is good but he could only find one heart beat. He did tell me before he checked, that he would probably be only able to find one as its hard to distinguish at this stage more than one heart beat which is why I'll be having lots of scans. Next scan is on the 22nd May......doesn't make me feel any better though. I'm going to be worried for the next month until I can see the pair of them on the screen.

I have finally been asigned a midwife...you would have thought I would have had one but no. I get to meet her and have a check up on Wednesday.

Morning sickness is now gone completely although I am still tired and get headaches.

It was fantastic to hear both heart beats especially as I had only heard one when I went to the obstetrician, which he said was normal at that stage but I still worried.

Resting would be good but Harry wants to play however at the moment he's not too well. He's got a temperature and a cold which could be due to teething troubles. I've finally got him down for a nap.

Had our 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago and got to see our little miracles on screen. It was fantastic! We now know the sex or sexes but we are keeping it to ourselves for the time being. Not sure of names at the moment, thinking of 2 is proving quite difficult!

I look about 8 months now and the back ache is getting more intense but on the whole I am feeling pretty good!

My twins , both boys, are now twenty years old in July, and there's nothing quite like it in the world for amazing! They're such a joy and too funny to be real. You will love this experience for what it is, not what it does to wear you out, so keep that end game in mind when the days drag on and your feet swell out of even flip-flops! Mine were born exactly 1 month to the day early, but were still the size of many full term babies. But compared to my other babies, they were tiny. And they looked like little orange frogs! No lie! But cute as buttons...still are! Their pictures are in my personal page in an album if you care to see for yourself.

Eat light meals as you'll fill up quickly, rest often, drink slowly and frequently. When they are big enough, you can calm them by rubbing their backs through your belly when they get too rambunctious for comfort. Your back is tired because of the extra weight in front, so try to wear clothing that will help support the tummy. If the skin stretches too quickly and begins to itch, rub it just after a shower but before you've dried off, with baby oil. It keeps the skin soft and itch free. Cocoa butter also helps for the more extreme cases, if you don't mind smelling like candy.

Congratulations and enjoy! It's too special to do any less. My thoughts are with you until they arrive safely into arms waiting to hold them. Don't forget to post pictures!

I agree, you can tell us! :) It's so exciting! I secretly wanted twins, because I knew that'd be the only way I'd get to have 3 (biological) kids.

I'll let you all know when I've had my next growth scan at 28 weeks. Part of me can't believe we're having twins and I'm scared of losing them. Every mum paranoia I suppose when they are pregnant.

Thank you all for your advice, Its a great help

Ariste
June 9th, 2008, 07:32 AM
yeah I think every mom goes through the paranoia...I think it's just maternal instinct kicking in early :D

DreamSpell333
June 10th, 2008, 05:48 PM
I dont think the paranoia stopped for me with vincent until they placed him in my arms! :hugz: to you.

I understand why you want to keep their sex a secret. :)

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. :)

Congrats to your sister Dixie! She's about the same amount of time along as I am. I can sympathise with her. I'm huge, or at least I feel it! *G* I'm going to get Paul to take some photos over the weekend and I'll post a couple when I figure out how to do it!

Had a bit of a scare of over the weekend while we were visiting family over 200 miles away from our home. I got excruciating back pain and had to be rushed to hospital by ambulance. They established that I wasn't in labour and that one of the twins is laying in a way that put my back into spasm. OMG it hurt. Still a bit sore but at least the babies are ok.

HI khatt...... firstly I wanna say congratulations!!

Ive been on MW a while but have not posted for a very long time. I have one year old twins and wrote a lot about it on here, there are a few threads if you search up my name etc I tried very hard to do like a diary thing although i think i sucked at updating it towards the end.

Where abouts in east london are you?? I had my twins at whipps cross hosp, do you know of it?

This thread is a short birth story, it was amazing giving birth to twins, you have so much to look forward too.

I realised that I didn't tell anyone their names lol

In the end I called them Shannon Louise and Shayne Brandon

edited to add - I uploaded a pic of them at about 8 weeks old to my profile pic if you' re interested ;)

Hi!

We're in Plaistow at the moment and I know Whipps Cross! My mother in outlaw lives in Leyton! We are moving to Hornchurch in Essex but as my obstetrician is fantastic we are having the babies at Newham instead of transfering to Queens.

I'll have a read through you thread. Great names btw!

Hi ha your just down the road, I know where hornchurch is, my friend used to live in rainham!

Please do read the links, I think the diary one will be quite helpful as I wrote about how i felt physically and mentally - its not too long!

Referring to a previous post of yours, I think you do feel more scared something is going to go wrong with twins, I experienced a single pregnancy too and found that the twin one was just unbelievable at times, its hard to gather that there is two babies there and when the fears pop up I just felt like i couldnt put my heart into it because this wasnt going to happen for me. I dont know if you get what im saying but it was very hard to believe, although i was fully aware i was pregnant with twins lol

All I can say is that you have so much joy heading your way!
