Hello:
I am not very familiarized with the animals and the messages that they can bring to our life. A small hummingbird has been surrounding me all the time for more than one week. I live in a big city, where to see a hummingbird is already a miracle... you can imagine what means to see this little bird every step I take. Yesterday, the windows of my house were open and I was reading in the sofa when the hummingbird entered, flew for a while around me, stopped for some instants in front of my face and then It left again for the window . I feel that it is a message... but I don't know which. I have looked for information about the spirit of the animals, but I have not been able to find anything satisfactory.
Can somebody help me? I would be very grateful.
Hugs

They have a really long list, I'd be surprised if it wasn't in there.

According to Ted Andrews in the book Animal Speak, the hummingbird symbolizes tireless joy and the nectar of life. He goes on to say that because they are so closely connected with flowers, hummingbirds can teach us about herbal healing and flower magick. Their irridescent colors have been associated with jewels and the rainbow--Pueblo Indians associated it with bringing rain. Hummingbirds are considered fiercely independent, playful, hard-working and master-builders. They also symbolize accomplishing that which seems impossible.

While most everyone would agree that the hummingbird is the most beautiful of birds, it's little realized that hummingbirds are also the mightiest... an eagle can't hover, a hawk can't fly backwards, an owl can't beat it's wings hundreds of times a minute... yet the tiny hummingbird can do all these things. This symbolizes depths of strength... it also illustrates the old saying about "dynamite comes in small packages"...

Wouldn't it be great to just flit around & smell the flowers all day? :)

:) Yes, thanks!

Jaswant, that's a neat experience and I've had similar ones with Monarch butterflies. They also appear out of season and have landed on me, staying for quite a while. They have always heralded changes for me and every single one of them has been positive. I've had similar experiences with cardinals, crows and hawks and have gotten messages of both warning and reassurance from them. This is a wonderful part of the magickal path to explore.

Here's a recent thread that might be helpful:

there is a website that discusses animals and all of their attributes. It's called shamanism working with animal spirits.
