Personally, I'm going to say no. It is not physically possible for one to wish for wings and grow them on one's back.

You asked for an answer on this earlier this year. I direct you to your own thread and the answer it received.

Hm my answer would be no, at least not in this lifetime. Tho some of us do healing magic to regenerate diseased or missing cells I think it would take centuries of concentration and energy work to build something of that size.

If it were possible to grow physical wings, :) I'd already have them.
Well, maybe not right now. Maybe when I got out of the service. :bigredgri But still.

To be different, I will say "Yes. It is possible. Anything is possible."
But is it PROBABLE? Not really. :D
Now.... why do you want wings? You'd never be able to sleep on your back again. You have no beak or uropygeal gland oil with which to keep your feathers in fine working order. You don't have the hollow bone structure for flight. You don't have the right skeleton shape for the proper placement of wings. You would be an oddity wherever you went. Your clothes wouldn't fit properly. And you would probably be shot down by either some idiot who thought you were a bird, or else shot down by the government for flying in their airspace without permission.
So. Why would you want wings? Be happy with the body you've got and then on your next go 'round, be a bird or a bat if you're given the option.

As always, I feel I must break with the mainstream and cast the dissenting vote. Here is an article from the Hindustani times (the link was dead, but I saved the text of the article from a google cache).
Humans could have wings
Guardian News Service
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A US plastic surgeon is working on techniques which could make us resemble animals in ways we can't even imagine today. Dr Joe Rosen is not a quack. He works at the acclaimed Dartmouth Medical Centre, and has been a scientific advisor to NASA.
He is fond of making statements such as: "Human wings will be here. Mark my words." He believes in all seriousness that within five years he will be able to graft wings on to a human being's body. This is possible because our brains adapt to create neural maps for new body parts. When we have a limb amputated, our neural map of that limb gradually fades away; and if we gain a body part, our neural map expands accordingly.
"If I were to give you wings, you would develop, literally, a winged brain. Our bodies change our brains, and our brains are infinitely mouldable," Rosen has said.
Surgical techniques already in existence can be used to stretch torso fat and rejig rib bones to create a wing. Although no human would be able to fly, they would resemble angels and have full sensation in their new hanging, boned flaps of flesh. Rosen has designed blueprints.
This is the new world of radical plastic surgery, where Rosen is Moses. He would not be content to settle merely for wings either. He has been working on cochlear implants to enhance human hearing (the US military has shown interest in the procedure), and even tails.
If the medical-ethics board allowed it, Rosen insists he would carry out these procedures. And, as the case of Severino Antinori, the Italian doctor hell-bent on cloning a human, shows, once the technology and the will to experiment exist, it is very hard for ethical qualms to block these actions. Sooner or later, Rosen's plans will be put into action: just like the mouse with an ear on his back, one day soon a winged human will force us to re-examine the fundamentals of human life.

I asked the hubby the other night.
His reply?
It's possible................but not very likely. (actually he said probable but I don't think I can spell it correctly!8O
He also said that anything is possible but the likely hood of certain things happening were slim to none.

Not sure exactly what you're disagreeing with Ill, but the way I read that is they physically implant wings and then your brain grows to use them, rather then your brain creating them through concentration which is what this person was asking about.
Am I reading it wrong or...?
