I have no idea about something. I don't know if any of you watch Buffy on the WB, But I do. ANd I was wondering is anything that the witches do on that show follow any of the ways of Wicca? I am talking about magic and stuff. It just seems so un-real.

I don't believe that they use Pagan magic....rather it is
magic that mainstream society perceives it to be.
Charmed is another good example, they tend to
portray Pagans in a negative way.

I haven't watched it but from what I have seen in movies it seems to usually be portrayed in a negative and far fetched manner.:G

for some reason truth doesn't entertain people.....any company (the WB, the company I work for who shall remain nameless but owns about 2/3 of the world, it seems) in entertainment does not care what the truth is and even what people want.....all that matters is that it makes them money....they all underpay their employees and lay off hard working people to save just a little bit of cash....they don't pay attention to the fact that there's people busting their butts doing 4 peoples jobs and still getting paid just over minumum wage....they don't take that money and put it towards better programming....they just kinda hold on to it....

WOAH!!!!!!!! I just realized that I got off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the conversation at hand and if I keep going I'll never stop!! :)

I saw this show....and this thread makes me think of it and I want to know if anyone else saw it and if so what you're thoughts were on it......
it was on discovery channel I think.....I think it was an episode of "BEYOND BIZARRE" it had on it the people who dance with the poisonous snakes and some stuff about ghosts I think (I didn't watch it that far) but it also had a segment on Wicca......where they had a group of people talking about the craft and what is done and how people practice etc....everything they were saying was true.....definately not the tv crap you hear.....so they were ligitimate wiccans, I'm sure....but I just wondered if anyone else saw it and if so what you thought about the way the show presented Wiccans....(to me just the fact that is was on "Beyond Bizarre" is kind of insulting......I don't find anything bizarre about the path I've chosen!!)

I've seen that show, but I haven't seen that particular episode in awhile. I love the Discovery Channel and most of its affiliates.

That show is the type that showcases ghosts, aliens, monsters, mysterious happenings and the like. That episode did portray Wiccans very well.

It may have been to make up for another episode I saw that showed a "town of witches" in Great Britain. It portrayed them as sacrificers and never showed anyone, no people at all. It was very unbelievable and looked kind of rigged together from clips from different places.

I wish they would do a whole hour show on Wiccans and Pagans. I think that would get alot of people aware of us, at least the type of people who like to watch those kind of things.

i think its all based on something, but i know they jazz it up.. i dont think your eyes really go funny colours, or special colours of light visibly come out of your hands, i do know that you are meant to visualize light, as part of your energy...it is hollywood magic, and they cant really show willow and tara visualising their energy... and plus.. they have to make it look all purdy for the hollywood producers..

There are people who can see and read auras they would be able to see light leaving a person's hands as they did energy work. It isn't something that is easy or super common but it is out there. Spells are also something a lot of people use but they certainly aren't like on tv.
