A technician was suspended for a week for broadcasting 3 minutes of pornography from France to the French Polynesia people.

It always happens somewhere else but never here.

Come on, people in French Polynesia probably don't wear any clothes and have sex in public while standing up! I don't think they were offended by a little French porn on their tv screens.

Maybe not, but that blatant racism offends me.

I was taking that as sarcasm... I hope it is, at least.

No we wouldn't. I wouldn't eat horse meat...
Too much of a chance I knew the horse. :D

But you have a point.

Id say it was ethnocentrism not racism.

What are you guys going on about my post for? You were supposed to laugh at it, not accuse me of being a racist. :thumbsdow

I thought this whole thread was supposed to be a farce, but it looks like you guys are all taking it too seriously. I'm out of here.

This was full on hard core porn, not the topless or nude actor/actresses that can appear in European TV/commercials.

Pfft. I could be offended with all the "stupid American" type threads too, but I'm not. Like has already been clarified, it was a joke. People joke about other cultures. :) I didn't find it racist at all, just like I don't find the stupid American threads racist (usually) because we're allowed to poke fun at other people too. :)

I'd be apalled at anyone who could find those kind of jokes funny. Let's just perpetuate existing stereotypes of personal inferiority, then claim anyone who gets miffed just has no sense of humor.

Anytime I find those jokes funny (and I don't always, but usually do because I can find humor in most things) its usually because the "perpetuated existing stereotypes" are usually absurd to begin with. That's usually the point OF the joke... to poke fun at a stereotype that either no longer exists or exists for such a small minority that it doesn't matter. If we can't poke fun at ourselves (that's an all inclusive "ourselves"... meaning people in general), then humanity needs more help than I thought.

Oh, stop the bickering!

My own response: I find it rather hilarious it was three minutes of porn embedded into or right after a religious program

Okay then, enough. I started this thread as I found it funny. That is why in the title it has lol on the end. lol if you do not know denotes fun. It is to laugh at and share the mishap of 3 minutes of porn.

Instead it goes onto a racial slur. And I thought most people on here are open minded enough to have a joke, make fun and get on with each other. The minority who are doing this is ruining it for the majority. So please calm down and get a grip.

Enjoy the story but please, no casting of aspersions in my threads. Thankies.

Now back to lol'ing.

Only 3 minutes of ...

... that'd probably be enough, I suppose.

I'm surprised France airs anything that isn't porn. :rotfl:

Who said anything about inferiority? Personally, I think a land where people walk around naked and have sex in public is superior to ours. :woot:

lol QFT. In France, things are a bit more lenient than they are in the US. Fully naked people in ads? No big deal. It was a very shocking experience for my 14-year-old self when I went there .

And, yes, public nudity isn't a big deal and yet here everyone's so up tight! Seriously, think of all the benefits! NO TAN LINES!
