Hey all,
I just found out recently that our apartment complex has suddenly developed a mouse problem. A friend who lives in the apartments on the other side said that she had found some and today I found out that when she reported it to the super, there are apparantly hundreds of them living in the basements/storage areas.
So far, they haven't hit our side of the complex yet and I'm hoping to do put out some energy that will "repel" them from coming this way!
For those of you who do not know, I moved back in w/my mother a few years back and right now we are sharing a one-bedroom apt. (Don't worry, we don't SHARE the bedroom.) However, we have the contents of both my last apt and hers here and are a bit cramped. Basically, there is stuff everywhere.
I'm geting nervous that I'm soon going to have to tear this place apart and rearrange everything. But there is just no place to put anything! We literally have stuff piled everywhere.
So I beg all of you--PLEASE help me to send out a sort of 'energy shield' that will repel these things from coming into our apartment. I'm working on a sort of "invisible steel dome" that will cover my stretch of apts. so that they will not get into any on our side. There are also many, many pets here and I don't want them to get bit or hurt in any way--especially, not my birdie!
THANK YOU ALL so much!!! I've lived with this problem before and I don't want to have to go through it again.
Many blessings to everyone--

I will send all I can and see if I can't channel the cats!

This idea came from my hubby! But it sounded the most humane to me! Relocation is the answer! (the mice that is)
Apparently there are cages available that will allow a mouse to enter but not exit. Once you have some visitors inside
the cage you can take them to a new home and release them. I don't know where in the US you could buy these, perhaps someone might know how to construct one! Good luck!
Blessed be!

They were cheaper than I thought my mother uses them at her lab and they work well.

Mice can be very infectious, and disease ridden rodents,
I don't believe in harm none when it comes to my, or my families health...
infact, I don't believe in harm none anyway.
get some mouse traps....they love peanut butter

Just don't use those glue traps, they don't work. My sister tried those once and the mice used the bathroom on them and never got stuck.

I know it's a pain but maybe a storage unit for the time being for all your "extra" stuff. We've used them before, although it's been quite a while. All our "extra" is stored in plastice storage boxes out in the barn and we don't have problems with the mice getting in those.
As for the mouse problem my mom says to stuff steel wool in any openings you might have in the walls. Other than that, I will send some energies your way. Good Luck!
(Do you have any cats?)

Thanks for the help guys! I'm trying to stick with the energy thing right now and hoping that it won't come to the use of traps and such. I know the super is working on the problem by exterminating the underground areas under the 1st floor apts (I'm on the 2nd) so that they won't come up anymore than they have.
I'm just freaking paranoid right now and anything that moves I jump! LOL But like I said, I've been through it before so I know where of I speak.
As for the storage unit idea, I would if I could believe me. I thank you for the suggestion, honestly. But because I only have $5 in my bank account right now, it's really not a possibility.
No cats, just a birdie! :) Hey I just realized this is my 700th post!;)
SOOOO, I continute to envision a steel dome that covers the entire unit. Let's keep those vibes coming! :) :) :) :) :)
Thanks!!!!!!!

Okay, since no one has brought this up..Where do you store your bird food? (No offense intended, please believe me)
Mice need food. They go where the food is. One of the worst mice infestations I ever saw was at the home of a friend who fed the wild birds. she had bags of bird seed in the garage and basement. Need I say more? One enterprising mouse had built his house inside an extra bag of sunflower seeds. The bag looked unopened until I picked it up to sweep behind. :D Those large tins for Holiday popcorn are a blessing for storage and work really well for bird food.
When I lived in the wilds the mice were awful...until I put every food item in tin, glass or plastic boxes that were clean on the outside. Mice will chew through tasty plastic. I kept everything scrupulously clean. I also had everything that would make a nice nest in plastic storage boxes that snapped shut or tin chests, or hung up on hangers. Nothing left around for them to like. I even kept my hot pads for cooking in tin as one day I picked up the one on the bottom of my stack and it had a mouse and her babies in the middle.
And then I got a cat....peace and quiet at last. :)

No offense taken believe me.
I should make it clear though, the mice haven't hit our side of the complex yet. I'm trying to do this as a precautionary measure. Right now, they are still on the other side and in the basement sections, but so far we are ok.
I'm just worried that with all the stuff we have here that they will end up everywhere.
I did think of the bird seed thing though. I've got it stored pretty well.
Thank you so much! :) :) :) :) :)
