If you having trouble identifing with your cards and reading from them ~ try this little excercise ~ It really does help!!!
Take a card everyday and meditate on it. Look at the card and see what it can tell you about it's pictures and colors. Pay attention to all of the card and every little detail. Take note of every emotion, memory, thought and story that comes into your mind. Then after you feel totally finished with your card (say after fifthteen minutes) Say out loud (if possible) the meaning to yourself. No matter how crazy the meaning can be. Just say it to yourself what it means. This will implant the meaning in your head. Then after doing so for a few minutes. Meditate on the words you just said and picture yourself with those words. There after write a brief summary of the card's meanings into a journal book.
This excericse is great to do before going to sleep ~ then you can put the card either under your pillow or by your bed or stick it on the wall behind your head with some blu-tack! Visualise your card as you go to sleep and maybe you will have some interesting dreams!!
I love doing this excercise with the Sun card!

Entering the Card

This exercise can be found in Mary Greer's, "Tarot for Yourself. Have pen and paper ready for when you're done. Ground and center yourself or do whatever you do to protect yourself ~ cast a circle or imagine yourself in a cacoon of light.

Look at the card. Really pay attention to every detail. Commit the image to memory. Close your eyes and try to see the card in your mind. Check the card and see if there was anything you left out. When you can see the card in your mind exactly as it is in front of you, you are ready to begin.

Close your eyes and see the card in front of you. Slowly enlarge the card seeing it get bigger and bigger in your mind. When it,s life size, step over the boundary of the card into the picture. You are now in the card. You are free to walk around and interact with everything and everyone. The beings in the cards are ready to help you. This is your deck you are in. It,s on your side.

Everything can talk. You can fly, you can walk through walls, you can move mountains. Spend some time interacting with the card. Ask lots of questions. Take special note of what happens. How do you feel in the card? Use all your senses. What does the place smell like? What sounds do you hear? You can even taste things. Run your hand over textures and feel them. Pick things up and play with them. You can do anything.

Whenever you are ready, you may leave the card. It doesn,t matter how far you,ve flown, just turn around and step back out of the card, the same way you came in. Immediately write down everything that happened. Write down what you experienced and how you felt about it. Once you,ve written in all down, do back and read it again. Underline any important words and phrases that jump out at you.

I went crazy looking for my picture this morning and i coudln't find it, but as soon as I do I am going to post it

I still say a very good exercise for getting into a card is to dress like it. Have a few (2 or 3) people over and help each other dress like the cards... :)

It really made me VERY attached to my card...The Sun. So much so that I am goign to buy a little pendant of it...

Cheers
