Man jailed for satanic goat sacrifice
A man has been jailed for stealing a pet goat and killing it during a satanic ritual on a church altar.
Scott Peter Romano, 28, of the Brisbane suburb of Runcorn, will spend the next four months behind bars for what Brisbane District Court Judge Kerry O'Brien on Thursday described as a "completely senseless" act.

Prosecutor Jacob Robson said the group drove to a nearby property and abducted a goat, which they loaded into the boot of a car and took to the Bellbowrie Community Church.
The court was told the group broke into the church and led the goat - which had been bought as a pet for a 15-year-old girl - to the altar, where they slit its throat in a satanic ritual.
The court was told Romano then decapitated the goat, later telling police it was because he could no longer bear to watch it suffer.

Personally I am not sure the guy is a satanist. Sounds like an excuse for drunken stupidity. I mean there are ALOT of satanist in the world how often do you hear about them doing this kind of stuff. Even if they are killing goats they are smart enough to keep it on the down low. What a twit this guy is.

Yeah, but they usually start as children and by this guy's age have either committed to killing or haven't. Besides, serial killers are don't usually do it in groups or while drunk.

People who are serious about animal sacrifice usually buy the animal or trade for it or raise it themselves. Those practices should be protected by law. However, theft of someone else's animal and breaking & entering are certainly offenses that should be punished. Not to mention public drunkenness and it would seem drunk driving as well. What a bunch of idiots.

QFFT!
All I can say, is that if this guy had stolen my pet, the prison sentence would be the least of his worries. I don't take kindly to this sort of thing. I don't care if anyone wants to sacrifice an animal, but those who do are usually respectful of the animal in question, because it is gift (if there are cases that it isn't, then I don't really know about them).

I count theft, driving under the influence, breaking and entering, and animal abuse. Animal abuse alone can be a felony.
Just WHY is this guy not getting more than 4 mos in jail?

Because legal systems everywhere are a sham?
I hope he gets raped for 4 months solid by a 300lbs. black man named Bubba who puts his cigars out on the goat offenders bum.

I wish the laws were tougher for the theft part!
Livestock theft is a big deal to the owner.
Drunkenness, theft, trespass....4 months. Heck should be a lot more!
As for animal cruelty... Livestock is killed all the time and its not cruelty, its being a prey animal. By law, goats are livestock, not pets, no matter what people want to think, just ask the ag dept of the US.

While, I do agree that they are livestock and it's not illegal to kill them...

This makes me think that they didn't just kill it, but slit it enough so that it would bleed, and maybe die slowly.

The animal dies from blood loss not the throat cutting. Pigs are one that are more commonly bled out compared to other general livestock.

See, we didn't kill our pigs that way, so I didn't realize that. We always shot them dead center of the forehead first. /shrug

Some people also eat tongue from animals. You don't want to risk blowing holes in your food if your the type that utilizes a lot of a carcass.

Who said anything about blowing anything up? I never saw an "exploded head" with this method, it just simply was enough to kill the pig, and then the throat was slit and the pig bled out. The guy who did the process was a very good shot, so "holes in the food" was never a problem.

I kill our livestock. I also butcher it. So I know the effects of bullets, even from a 22, the smallest caliber that will kill a pig and other larger livestock, if you hit it perfectly and it often take more than one shot on an animal over 100 pounds. Larger calibers do very much damage, very much.
When you shoot the animal you get bones and tissue fragments. You also get blood clots in tissue from the concussion. Any part of the animal you are planning to process, your not going to shoot. So if you are planning to process head parts, you wont risk bones, brain, and other fragments getting into the desired portions.
Internally, there is some blowing up going on.
You wont see it if you only see the outside. You see a hole. A small hole.
If you process the head you will find much more than a little hole.
Even small caliber bullets do much damage on the inside.
You also wouldn't want to risk a shell frag either getting into a usable part either...they are made of lead.
