I just found this web site and I thought everyone here might want to check it out. WWW.donateaphone.com


They take these phones to battered women shelters so the women can call 911. It is tax deductable and help women who are abused.

I told my hubby about this and he told his manager. His company is going to organize a day for customers to drop off there cell phones. They LOVED the idea I had!!!!:D


I am so happy and excited! I'll keep everyone posted on the date.

That is a terriffic idea. I know my friend could use it right now, she is in a shelter. Unfortunately, i have no way of knowing if her shelter provides this...I'll check around and see if anyone I know has old cell phones they'd like to donate though.

Splash Car washes of CT and NY are asking cell phone users to turn in their used cell phones to help raise funds for the CTIA Wireless Foundation and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center of Connecticut. Phones are collected and reprogrammed, referbished or recycled. Reusable phones are distributed to individuals of domestic violence.


Collection efforts will begin on October 1, 2002 and continue until December 31, 2002.


Everyone may donate their used phones at the following Splash Car Wash locations.

In CT:
Greenwitch, Darien, Norwalk, Wilton, Fairfield, Stratford, New Haven, and Cheshire.


In NY:
White Plains, Bedford, Mahopac and Carmel.

There is a similar campaign here in Germany where cell phones are distributed to elderly persons or ppl suffering from MS etc so that they can call a doc when there is an emergency.

We got new phones a couple of months ago, & this is something I was looking for, to send the old one off!
