Well, for one thing, I'm glad they're thinking up a different way to approach the subject, at least.

He knew that metal heats up when it's exposed to high-powered radio waves. So what if a tumor was injected with some kind of metal, and zapped with a focused beam of radio waves? Would the metal heat up and kill the cancer cells, but leave the area around them unharmed?

from here (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/10/60minutes/main4006951.shtml).

I know, it's not the best caption but I think it generally describes what this guy is trying to do. Basically, he wants to inject cancer cells with metallic materials (gold was mentioned), and then pass radio waves through the person, causing the metal to heat up and kill the cancer cells. Since the metal is only in the cancer cells, it would be less likely to damage surrounding tissues, etc. It would probably not have such adverse affects as, say, chemotherapy, and with less likely damage to surrounding tissues?

This could be a great finding.

Well... it's not a very scientific article, so I'm not really sure that I should get my hopes up.

But the theory presented is a phenomenal idea. I really, truly wish them luck.
