Anyone has a "cure Brigid's migraine" magickal wand out there? Cos that would seriously be wonderful.
I have a you-know-what of a migraine...the pain, the nausea, the...migrainess of it all.
So yeah, migraine instant cure-alls are welcome. As my pills dont seem to want to actually, you know, help, with this here headache.

Do you have any peppermint essential oil? That always helps me when I have a bad headache, and it's good for nausea too.
Hope you feel better! :hugz:

You have sympathy.
Other than that, ibuprofin is the only thing that helps me, or, if I can get past the taste and smell enough to get it down, a shot of whiskey (not together, of course).
Accupressure actually does work a little for me--the web between your thumb and forefinger--from there to about where your thumb bone and hand bones come together: Pinch it with the thumb and forefinger of your other hand. If you're like me, you'll find tat yo absentmindedly release pressure after a certain amount of time: If you can find one that doesn't pinch too sharply, either a paperclip or the clip part of a pen works well to keep constant pressure.
It does help me somewhat (not entirely, but it takes off the edge) after a couple of minutes, but I've found that I have to maintain the pressure or it promptly comes back full force.
What also helps me is mentally following the pain, trying to locate it precisely: If I can maintain concentration, I mentally look where the pain is supposed to be, but find nothing here, and the pain temporarily disappates (or relocates) until I lose my concentration: unfortunately I have a short attention span, esp. when I have a migraine, so this method seldom works for very long....usually just play with it until the ibuprofin kicks in.
Good luck, I hope you find something that works....It sucks.

:hugz: I get migraines too, unfortunately I still haven't found anything that consistently works. Everything I try works sometimes but not others. Hope you feel better soon.

I use Excedrin Migraine and it works wonder. Even though it is over the counter I have had better luck with that than prescriptions . I like it because it works within 15 minutes.
Hope you feel better soon.

Sending healing, positive, and comforting energy to you! :hugz:
I use a hot pack on the back of my neck, which loosens the muscles around my head, some panadol, and a quiet, dark room (with some classical music).

I think its stress related...and hormone related. I used cold on my neck, which seemed to help some (weirdly enough). Plus coke, been sipping on that for the caffiene to help with the blood vessel/migraine component. I haven't tried the excedrin headache, Im using fioricet, as given to me by my doctor. Ive only had it a few months, seems like now I'm weaned the baby, Im getting migraines again. Didnt have any really during breastfeeding. Yay for the return of hormones...

Hope you're feeling better. This is day 5 for me. The longest I've had one last was 2 weeks and I hope this one doesn't try to set a new record. Stupid weather.

I get bad migraines atleast twice a month, sometimes more. I use advil migraine. their liquid gels, then I usually drink something with caffiene as well.
I had one last week.. took my advil migraine and then went and got a mocha iced latte. it went away after. :)
Where I work at dunkins I think my migraines lately have stemed from not drinking coffee all the time. I am addicted to their iced lattes though :D

I feel for you. I have bad migraines too. I take medication every day to help prevent them, then I have stuff to take prn if they crop up. I have found that an herbal mix of ginger and feverfew helps as well.
