Fancy Dress?

Hiya all! Happy Beltane everyone!! :D

If I may quiz you all for ideas ~ pagan and funny ~ or both!
Im going to a fancy dress party next weekend and need some ideas as to what to go as? I have already done ~ CatWoman, Dothery, Little Red Riding Hood, Ghost, Motica (probally spelt wrong!) from the adams family and a fairy and have ran out of ideas..has any of you bright friendly folk got any for me?

Hi Dria El, Thanks for your interest ~ Im not sure yet if Im going to rent or make ~ I no good at sewing so if Im making I will have to put it together from already made clothes.. any ideas?? :D

The Goddess of Love.... oh la la!! :)

Or one of the Egyptian Goddesses? Those would make cool costumes. I can picture it now.

That's actually a really good idea. Do you have or have access to an old prom dress? That could be the basis for your outfit and you could accessorize(sp?) from there!

I had already thought of Venus and had a good look around the fancy dress shop for an appropriate dress as I dont have a dress that would suit ~ but couldnt find one then thought naa because my friends would probally tease me for years to come if I went as her ~ and the costume could be a bit tricky to make.. I am really bad at sewing! plus I thought roman goddess and gods are often very popular so there might be a chance of another Venus being there and there cant be two goddess'es of Love!!
But Oooo Egyptian Goddesses!! Now thats a thought!! Ill get on the phone to the fancy dress shop straight away ~ and look Isis up on the net!! Thanks!!! Maybe a green dress and lots of gold and black and blue makeup will do!! *rushing off to inestigate further* Thank you again ~ Im all excited now!!

I was thinking that if you wanted to... you could use this as an excuse to do some research on some different Goddesses and try to interpret what you think they might look like if they appeared in modern clothes. Just a thought...

You could always get a flesh colored body suit flesh colored tights some large leaves and vines at the craft store and go as Eve. It's great for a laugh if you are among Pagans and an all around fun costume. Cheap easy and fun. oops that's me single! good thing I got married

How about eve?? No costume necessary, Lol. Seriously have you thought of Robyn Hood??? ;) Note the spelling she is a girl. Oh well time to get out of the ol moat and get ready...got to fly Hee,hee:p

Basically a roman or Greek costume, but get rubber snakes and weave them into your hair. My mom did it one year, and it was fabulous.

Best costume I've ever seen was on my best friend's younger sister...A shattered porcelain doll. She put on a pretty doll-like velvet dress, made her face white and then painted cracks in it with black makeup. Very nifty.

Just don't go in a banana suit--I made that mistake one year--and had to use the bathroom more than one night with that aggravating thing on then I ever did the rest of my life to date.

I was Medusa too when I was younger! My mom made the snakes stand up with a coat hanger she cut up and twisted together (does this make sense?). The snakes were just simple finger like pattern and she drew the eyes, etc. on by hand. She then braided my hair and the snakes around it. I don't remember what the actual costume looked like. lol I was just so mesmerized by the snakes. :)

All those ideas were amazing! ~ I loved the Medusa 1!
Ive actually chosen my costume ~ decided to go full out and hire one in the end! I made it up from a few different costumes they had at this theatre company ~ amazing choice of loads of beauitful fun, crazy stuff!
Anyway, its a kind of destressed fairy, forest, nympth outfit!! Well cool!! The top is a mixture of flesh, blue and black colours and is beautifully constructed around a bra but has loads of net and lace hanging off it so covers me well! ..then the blue and black skirt is net again, Ive got some brilliant old fashioned fairy wings then some laurels for my hair ~ looks wicked on ~ very romantic but sexy at the same time!! :D Im going to paint vines and flowers up my arms and legs and do my hair and makeup all wild and forest like!
I cant wait until Saturday now!
