I'm not normally one to jump to conclusions about the spiritual significance of events that may be "normal," so I figured I'd get some advice here.
I moved to upstate NY from the coast a few years ago, and am now living in a place that's a little bit more country than suburban. For the past six months I've been seeing a lot of red-tailed hawks and ravens - in fact yesterday I had a hawk relaxing on my patio, and today I had a raven landed on my car while I was at a stop sign. I've been seeing both these types of birds flying overhead at least once a day for more than a month.
These types of birds are common here, but the frequency that I see them and my experiences lately give me the feeling that there may be something more to them than just bird sightings. What's also strange to me is that I've never really been "into" birds; a lot of people seem to have spirit animals or guides or something similar that they connect to. I've never felt at all attracted to ravens or birds of prey.
So, I guess I'm just not sure what to make of all this. Am I being too skeptical about the possibility of some spiritual significance, or would it be too soon to jump to that conclusion? Or, am I just being a total retard who's too scared of sounding "fluffy"?

when it comes to the spirit realm there are no normal occurances, everything in life has a meaning, a reason.
There are always guides who are trying to tell us things.
Try to take notice of other signs, like your dreams perhaps..
and it wouldnt hurt to do a reading for yourself too.
Once you show the spirits you are interested in what they have to say, then they will give you more info.

it could be spirit guides, or it could just be sightings of a common animal. There's a mocking bird that sings in the front yard everyday. I say go with your gut instinct

Quoted for partial truth. Red-tailed hawks and ravens are fairly common in your area. Don't jump to conclusions. The only thing I disagree with - don't just go with your gut. Guts frequently lie. If you really, truly feel that this is some kind of cosmic clue that you should be paying attention to, I would turn to divination. I would probably suggest you not read for yourself - since you want honest answers, let someone else do it, that way you lessen the chance of seeing what you want to see. I hope that helps.

You are open to these experiences in a way you might not have been before. To me that is significant. We ignore things we don't have the framework to process, but begin to pay attention to different things as we become able to interpret and learn from them. Like a language we can't understand, we ignore it, but once we begin to learn...we pay more attention when someone speaks it.
So, what might be an ordinary event to someone else is standing out to you, so somehow, it has something to say to you or to teach you. Keep listening. Find a method of meditation or divination you are comfortable with. Look up the symbolism of those birds and see what you think...or just hang in there, and in time, the message will become clear to you.
Personally, I try not to "force" these things because I find that by being impatient, I end up attaching a false meaning to them. So now, I wait it out and trust the process. That might include looking up the symbolism. Would definitely include me getting more info on the species and just paying more attention to what the critters are up to. In time, by observing, learning...the lesson for myself becomes clear.
It is usually something very unassuming but because of the way it speaks to what is going on in my life and spirit, is also very rich. Like a small key that unlocks a big inner mystery for me.

I would also learn more about the animals themselves - maybe their lives have something to teach you, in relation to the move you just made. Follow that up with meditation to find any spiritual experience it may have for you. I think that because you are noticing them so much, there is probably something you need to pay attention to.

With things like this, I ask for clarification over and over until I'm certain it's no longer a coincidence :)
I suggest you do the same.

If your instinct or intuition tells you it mean something, then it usually does. You just have to make sure its your intuition first.
I know that when I follow my intuition, I am hardly ever wrong.
