still use divining rods to locate their well?
ya know, find the place to dig for the best water?
my grandparents did on their farm, but I think they hire the guy
if I remember right. Real old dude in straw cowboy hat, showed
them two good places on the rockiest land I have ever seen. Also
was hilly country. I have shown the place to Freyja, its in the stix!

Have to run to work.....but when I did a search, the first five sites were all catalogs selling divining rods  I'll go back and check later to see if there are any actual articles.
:) Yes, the place is in the stix, and beautiful. Thanks for posting this thread, Baby! :smooch:

Aww you too :loveduv:
Over here they are called something else,, ick what has happened to my brain recently.. when the name comes back to me Ill post and do a search :)
Ive used them once before and found them very fascinating, they didnt work too well for me but hey I was just handed them for a few mins... The lady who let me hold them was a Feng Shui practioneer and used them for finding fault/stress lines, then she'd cleanse the line and middle point with a big transistor crystal.

There are still a bunch of folks out here who can witch for water and hit it every time! The ones in my family who could witch as well as some of the others I knew used a forked limb. While I hear that willow was preferred, I know of some who would use oak or any other limb which was available.
I've doused a few times with rods made of coathangers and had pretty good luck...I was searching for ley lines. Funny this should be brought up as I've got an old well out here that's filled in and plan on finding a new spot to dig for water, as I'm not really sure how well rural water would hold out in the event of a real emergency.
(ohhh. look out, ya'll! she's off in the nether regions of her mind again......)

a forked stick is a divining rod. and they work best for water.
hangers work for water but not as well.(no pun intended)
not sure about witch switch is better for ley lines. (pun intended)

Rootwork I too remember them calling it "witchin for water". My mom was the first person to tell me about it and about the willow being the best. I think (if I remember correctly) that she said my grandmother could do it. Remember playing with it when I was little.

Since this seems to be an inherited thing (so is breathing...lol) I suspect, Witchy Cowgirl, that you too can find water! I've read over and over about willow's relationship on the physical plane with water, so it makes sense that there would be an electromagnetic/sympathetic vibration between the two. Around here, though, willows attract light'n if they're out by themselves...lol! For all I know they're on the ley lines and it's the lines which attract/create the lightening.
Oh, well....I'm off again (boy, am I off). Considering the increased push toward privatization of water resources, being able to witch your own supply is not a bad skill at all....

Yes, I've heard about the energy connection between Willow and water......and even that it could ruin your plumbing system by sucking all of the water out of the ground near your house...
No, that doesn't work

Willows are notorious about finding ways into septic systems, growing around and breaking water pipes into houses......They really do love water........
