I'm considering buying a specimen of this, mainly cuz it's one of the coolest crystals I've ever seen but I don't know much about it. Does anyone have experience working with this type of crystal and what are it's metaphysical properties? Thanks!

well specularite is a form of hematite. sometimes specularite is known as Specular Hematite.

What lightdragon said.. this is just another form of Quartz associated with Hematite. There is some really cool looking stuff coming out of China right now that has Quartz associated with Hematite Rosettes. The problem with minerals associated with other minerals is that the energies tend not to blend so you have distinct and sometimes contradictory energies in one specimen.. although these make for great environ enhancers they tend to be mediocre at best for direct uses such as healing. They really shine when used indirectly or in subliminal ways.

Quartz with hematite inclusions are best for direct energy raising for healing or any other purpose as the energies tend to meld with each other without one dominating the other thus creating a specific energy to be used in whatever way it is most effective.

One other aspect of associations.. in most cases one mineral will be more dominant that the other(s).. again.. great for enhancing energies in an environ but not too effect for direct work as the dominant mineral's energies all but elininate the other energies and then every so often the other energies may tweek the dominant energies in unexpected ways.. not really something that is condusive to direct energy raising.

Soooo... it really comes down to your intention.. if it is for direct work these associations are not recomended in my opinion.. if it is to enhance an environ they can do wonders....

I'm gonna give it a try and see what sort of energy I can pick up from it. I wasn't looking for help with anything specific. It just caught my eye cuz it's so pretty! I had to have one of my own!
