OK, now it's Friday afternoon and again I don't feel like working (aren't I the dedicated employee? ) and so I'm once more starting a frivolous thread ... so ~ what's your guilty pleasure?

Mine? Well, ummm .... errrr ... reality TV shows. There, I admitted it! Yup, Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, The Mole ~ I'm addicted. My husband makes such fun of me, says he doesn't understand how I can stand such tripe, and honestly I don't know! But they've got their hold on me! *hangs head in shame*

Alright, so now that I've got that off my chest, anything YOU want to share?
:T

Cheesy '50s horror movies. Preferably ones that star John Agar or have any monster costume where you can see the zipper up the back.

Long live Godzilla!

I don't play on the OSI servers anymore. There's more than a few players that have set up their own shards using emulation software so I stick to those now. :)

The only TV I watch is Buffy. Of course, for those of you who know me, know that I'm completely obsessive about it. It's the best show ever. I don't know what I'm gonna do when the show ends. I might just give up on humanity all together.

I have a hard time saying no to Chelseas London Pub's Long Island Iced Teas. They're so good. Mmm.. thinking about them makes me salivate. LOL

I'm also a sucker for boys with long hair, preferably guitar players. ;)

The West Wing.
I tape it if I have to work. If I'm not working I refuse all invitations & I don't answer the phone while it's on (not that anyone I know is stupid enough to phone between 8:00 & 9:00 on Wednesdays).

Any show in the 'America's Castles" genre. I love shows about big, fancy houses, especially the outrageous 'Gilded Age' mansions.

And yet almost conversely, Cosmo magazine and makeup.

We are guilty about books? When..How did this happen??

I live in a library...oh, it is an apartment but it is full of books. I would rather buy a book than food...nope no guilt here, not about owning, wanting or having lots and lots of books.

Inhaling them in a single sitting when I need to be doing something else...yeah a really guilty pleasure...otherwise...Books, more books and the shelving to house them... :D

Books, and magazines/newpapers.
I buy a paper daily, 2 weekly magazines, sometimes 3, and 3 monthly glossies at least.
Also a book with my big fortnightly food shop. *giggle* and I read every single word and do all the crosswords.

Oh! puzzles as well, logic problems are my faves, but I'm addicted to solitaire on the comp!

Ever since I was little, I've been convinced that Heaven/Summerland/Valhalla was a BIG bookstore with all sorts of nooks & crannies to explore. Like Foyle's in London, but with nicer & knowledgable clerks.
With lots of big, comfy chairs.
And with a Godiva store attached.
Oh, and a Schlotsky's Deli attached, too. (Hey, it's my fantasy).

Oh I am in such turmoil. I have never considered books anything except my one true love. Now I see they are guilty pleasures. Goddess what is the world coming too? I was going to post and beg forgiveness for the container of Ben & Jerry's and now I realize that I was having two guilty pleasures as I re-read my copy of Jane Eyre as I ate it.

<<<<<sigh>>>>>

OK now I'm toptally BUMMED :( 8O :wah: time for that second Ben & Jerry's.........8O *sniffle*sniffle*

hmmmmmmm...the wb shows, and upn shows are one of my guilty pleasures. Another is Teletubbies. Hush! Don't laugh so hard! Ya see, it's kinda like being ON drugs, without actually being ON them ;)

Things I spend my money on that I shouldn't...heh...bath bubbles, and candles, and incense by the TON.

Foodwise, actually, i'm pretty well behaved and tame when it comes to sweets, most of the time. One thing that is a guilty pleasure of mine with food, is Sausage or Meatball Grinders. What makes it such a guilty pleasure besides the sheer caloric intake, is that I always crave them late at night, and order out to get them :(

Hey, I thought we were talking about guilty pleasures!

I share quite a few with others here (cats/Animal Planet/books/Ben & Jerrys...) but don't feel one iota of guilt, shame, embarrassment, sheepishness about them.

Now if you want to talk a guilty pleasure, here's mine...

The Man Show and Son of the Beach

Sigh... I swear, I must have been a guy in my last life or something... :p

Also, I love puns, but I'm not sure that I really feel too guilty about that.

Ok I love those reality shows too! (boyfriend even knows to tape them for me if I'm not home in time :) )
Chocolate or to be exact peanut m & m's (can't live without them)
and books , books, & more books. (boyfriend built a special bookcase to put in the living room to hold "some" of them)

I can at least (sort of) think of an explanation for the books, I guess. While I was growing up, I got kind of used to other kids looking at me as if I had horns or something when they found out that I actually read for pleasure. Not my close friends, though, they were book freaks too.

What really strikes me as odd is that these days I still sometimes encounter that reaction from other adults. Oh well, I think they're the weird ones. :D
