I know there's plenty of correspondence out there in relation to the Zodiac, but is there anything around that relates to the Constellations and Stars?

I don't know, I've always said that little children's prayer:

"Starlight, starbright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight."

Always to the first star I see. Childish? Perhaps. But I've had a few wishes come true, so I figure there must be some kind of energy working in it.

I've also heard that stars are angels' windows, watching from heaven. (If you're into angels.)

Finally, I've always felt strong energy from Sirius, part of the constellation Canis Major. It's the brightest star in the sky, and to the naked eye seems to flash several different colours.

To me, the stars in the sky have always signified a connection with the divine. Somehow, I don't feel as alone with them there. And I've always had a fondness for stargazing, especially back when I had my telescope.

Okay, so this is possibly the fluffiest post I've made in about five years...

theres quite a bit of information in the links i posted, i was hoping that the original poster might read some of it and come back with a more spacific question to talk about, but instead i think my comment was taken as a insult instead...

She responds like that alot I do not think she viewed it as an insult. Also if there is as much info as you said there is she may take a while before she responds again.

And Ruby if I am wrong then please say so :)

I agree that is something I have done since I was kid to and have had several things come true over the years. I guess what you put out in the universe gets answered every now and then no matter what your age :)

The Great Sidereal Year, which lasts 25,920 years, comes to an end in 2012.

Wrong. You're buying into that Mayan hype.

The sidereal year is the time taken for the Sun to return to the same position with respect to the stars of the celestial sphere. It is the orbital period of Earth, equal to 365.25636042 mean solar days (31,558,149.540 seconds), that is 366.25636042 earth rotations or sidereal days. The sidereal year is 20 minutes and 24 seconds longer than the tropical year.

The word "sidereal" means "relating to the stars". It derives from the Latin sidus, meaning "star".

I said Great Sidereal Year. You just said sidereal year. I guess that would be different.

I already replied about it - the Sidereal year is basically the astronomical time it takes Earth to orbit the sun. I don't know exactly what Kotu thinks he's talking about, perhaps something to do with the galactic plane turning?

But 2012 is the Mayan calendar date that everybody throws around as "the end of the world!!!11!11elven" because apparently, calendars don't ever repeat.

Only to a book. I think it's also known as the Procession of the Equinoxes?

Oh I see what you're getting at now. Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procession_of_the_equinoxes

Like a wobbling top, the orientation of the Earth's axis is slowly but continuously changing, tracing out a conical shape in a cycle of approximately 25,765 years (the so called Great or Platonic year, and also the determining factor in the length of an astrological age). This movement is caused by the gravitational forces of the Sun and the Moon, and to a lesser extent other bodies, on the equatorial bulge of the spinning Earth.

I think that's what you're going for. The Great or Platonic year, not the Sidereal year.

I still fail to see how a continuation of a cosmic calendar is going to equal the end of the world.

No, no. I didn't view it as an insult. Just got busy, and haven't had a proper chance to go through all the information. My 2 year old son, doesn't always allow for uninterrupted internet time, and will, if you step away from the computer long enough, make posts of his own.

Okay, now back on topic.

well with constellations each constellation is different in each part of the world, so you should try checking out different stories in different cultures. and using magick in accordance with what those symbols represent. eg. Big Dipper/Ursa Major. ok Ursa Major is a story about Callista who was turned into a bear and shot by her own son when she tried to embrace him. Perhaps casting magick about looking beneath the surface before jumping to conclusions? Big Dipper, replenishing spirituality or reviving something that lost meaning to you awhile ago. Plus there's also star divination. good luck

Interesting. Thanks, aluokaloo, I'd forgotten about the myths and such surround some of the constellations.
