I am never surprised to see things like this. Wicca, as it is widely portayed these days, has become a joke to most, even to long time Wiccans like myself ans Scarlet Swan...

...sad really. :(

I get upset about things like this, but when you just have Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and movies such as The Craft to form opinions what can you expect. I am torn between being more out and inviting the press to sabbots, to lets keep hiding - another burning times may be approaching.

We feel very strongly about this point. 98% of the Pagans who are in the "public eye" around here, we do not consider websites as "public," are stereotypical freaks (for lack of a better word). Those who are on this path for all of the wrong reasons.

I think it has nearly become a necessity for more Pagans to come out if we are to "survive" as a group. Things have changed, plain and simple. The time for public awareness is now, before the hole is too deep.

We personally know doctors, law enforcement officers, even city councel members who are Pagan. Unfortunately, it is those who many consider to be "lost and misguided" who are the spearhead of recent Pagan movements, public functions and much more.

I am not trying to say these individuals are wrong for the Pagan community, just that they are not the majority... it only appears that way to those whose opinions mold our future.

Preach it! That is one of the things we are trying to do here...with the charity aspect of this Community! Be out there. Show people that we are united and that we do care...we are people...just like everyone else.

It makes you wonder if freedom of religion is a reality or not.
