View Full Version : Could you feel comfortable in the presence of a ghost?

As for myself, I think I could. It is actually kinda a goal of mine to meet a ghost one day (but maybe not by myself!), but the ghost in question would have to be a benevolent one, because otherwise it might do something that would literally scare the crap out of me! :hairraise

What about you guys? Could you be comfortable in their presence?

Edited to add: I see now that the third poll choice might be confusing, so let me elaborate on that one. That choice means that you want another living person with you when the ghost is around, because you don't want to be in the presence of the ghost alone. I hope that clears it up better. And yes, this poll is meant to be multiple-choice, so pick all the ones which are true for you.

I can feel comfortable in the presence of any ghost, because I know I will not come to experience harm by their hand. I don't mind being alone with them and I generally also don't mind being confronted with some of the more malevolent ones. The thing is that I've simply become too used to their presence. I wasn't scared of them when I was a little girl and I refuse to start being scared of them now.

I voted for the top three choices. It would have to be a mixture of those things for me to feel comfortable.

I think I could be comfortable with any supernatural entity so long as I didn't have the feeling it wanted to do me harm in any way.

I've met plenty of ghosts so I'm okay in the presence of them.

Depends on the ghost, what it's doing, why it's there, what it wants with me...everything really.

Depends what it was doing. If it was just floating around minding it's own business, then sure, why not?

On the other hand, if it was breaking my stuff, trying to shag me (like in the other thread!) or ****ing with my electronics, then I think we'd have a problem.

Yes, I could-- and I have-- many times, beginning when I was a child in my grandmother's house and over the past few years that we've been living in this house.

We've had so many paranormal experiences in this house that I began recording them and have posted them on my website on the ghost/ghost hunting page under the title "Our House"...

Depends on my mood honestly.

im around them all the time. they seem to like to follow me around. the only time i have really felt uncomfortable when a ghost was around was when i lived on the old air force base here. a lot of bad stuff went on there and many of the ghosts there dont even know they are dead, or are very angry, so it kinda gave me a bad vibe when i was around them.

One of the shops I work in has several resident ghosts. We see them regularly, & we know who one of them is. They don't cause any trouble, they're just there. The flat above the shop is another matter entirely tho, whatever presence is up there isn't a one I feel comfortable around.
When I was very young I regularly felt a presence at my gran's old house & that wasn't a friendly one either.

So, I suppose it depends on what feelings I get from them. Ghosts in general don't freak me out.

Not something I believe in the presence of, so it's not an issue that has ever arisen.

Ghosts don't bother me. I worked at the third oldest mental insitution in the US. There was a cemetery on the grounds, and the old morgue was in the building where I worked. They even had some of the old chambers with the chains attached to the walls that they used for tours.

There were ALL KINDS of ghosts. Seriously disturbed ghosts. Some were pretty harmless and you just saw them sitting there or heard them go up and down the hall. Sometimes though doors would just SLAM SLAM or the cabinets in the activity room would open and close over and over again.

You just got used to it working there and got so you'd ignore it. If the doors would start slamming, I'd tell them to shut up and be quiet, people were trying to sleep. Most of the time it worked. It tended to freak new people out and there were some who didn't stay long.

I'd like to find out. Our resident house ghost is that of my best friend. I'm the only member of the household that he has yet to put in an appearance for.

He's shown himself to my wife (they were lovers), her b/f, and my g/f. Just not to me...damn him, I knew him for 17 years before his death and he ignores me...bastard...ahahahah

Someday I'm sure it will be my turn.

I knew him for 17 years before his death

Maybe that's why he "ignores" you, baby.

Unfortunately I'm not comfortable with ghosts but I wish I could get over it so that I could talk to a spirit guide.

I didn't really know which to pick so I chose other. I'm comfortable with ghosts, spirits, anything else I've come across. I've been weirded out plenty of times, like two nights ago when my TV turned on by itself just as I was getting into bed (the remotes were on the night table far away from where I was). It wasn't scary, just, different. I've experienced a few things myself, a couple which have been scary I'll admit. But on the whole I'm ok with it. It's part of who I am and I learned years ago to just accept myself and my "weirdness". It is in area of fascination for me, I love watching paranormal shows and would consider joining one of those investigative teams (a non-televised one) someday.

Most of the time I don't mind ghosts, however there is a malevolent one that I can sense following me up and down my street when I go out late at night. I can feel it's presence for the entirety of the street I live on, and while it hasn't done anything, I can sense that it is something evil.

I already have been comfortable in the presence of a ghost for the most part. Except for one event that happened.... but that was a bit disturbing for a third grader (a vision of his death) <~ yeah, pretty disturbing. But it did fill a curiosity in me and taught me something at a very early age.

I've had experiences with many different entities (spirits, ghosts, whatever label you prefer), some have been malevolent. I welcome them all, so I just show respect and let it go on from there. I've never been physically harmed by any of them, nor have they attempted to harm me, so I have no reason to be afraid at this point.

There wasn't just a "yes" option with no amendments... so I picked other. :)

I'm fairly comfortable with any type of entity... if they happen to make me uncomfortable for some reason... they are sent on their merry little way.

Here's my Specification for voting "Other"

Yes.
I could, have and do feel comfortable in the presence of ghosts.

What about you guys? Could you be comfortable in their presence?
For me it really depends on the ghost. I have had one or two I could handle being comfortable with, while others scared me really bad and that I never want to encounter again.

Same here. I would be comfortable as long as it didn't harm me.

I've been around them before. I've heard one speak to me but just my name as if it was acknowledging me, I've seen glimpses, felt that feeling of unease, and even relaxed.

Mind you I get scared and the feeling of being watched and sometimes even touched scares me but I'm okay with it. If I feel threatened though then I panic.

sorry for posting in such an old topic I couldnt help it :)

If the ghost was a friend, family member, or even someone I looked up to while alive (a hero for instance, that I hold as important in some way to me) then yes, I would be comfortable.

I'd say, if it was someone I knew, and liked, in life, then, yes, I'd be comfortable (I might find it a bit wierd at first, but, I would be comfortable), if I met an entity that wanted to do harm, then, no, I wouldn't.

Most of my life ghosts have been around me, most neutral. Some evil, some just... weird that follow me. Non of them ever bothered me. I find them a welcome break from the mundane material world.
