Officers then surrounded the car on foot and a large skirmish broke out, with police breaking out one car window and then struggling with the three suspects violently. The video shows the suspects being uncooperative. They eventually lie down on the ground. The video shows officers then kicking and stomping them.

Deffinately not by the book, they all just ran up to the car, drug the suspects out and started pounding.

what happened to "driver toss your keys out of the window"?

the car pulled over willingly,
oh sparks will be flying in city hall over this one.

Thank Goodness there was a News Chopper overhead.

I know tensions have been high between residents and police, and this does not help at all.

I wonder if we would have even heard of it if the news had not filmed it.

Do you think they are taking their grief/anger over the loss of Sgt. Liczbinski (http://www.myfoxphilly.com/myfox/pages/Entertainment/Detail?contentId=6479168&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=7.5.1)out on these guys?

It's hard to tell, obviously the timing of it is not good so I imagine the officers are still shook up over the loss.

I hope this does not turn into a Rodney King incodent.

I didn't see the videos, but I just want to say that police force is sometimes necessary in subduing someone. Since we're talking about shooting suspects here, it's very likely they are violent individuals.

Thing is, police have to follow the use of force model. Once a suspect becomes compliant, they have to treat the suspect accordingly. Kicking and hitting someone who's making no attempt to resist arrest is wrong.

Has anybody else noticed a rise in police brutality (is that what they're calling it now?) Several cops both on duty and off in my area have been charged with assault and whatnot.

Call they call failure to pull over "resisting arrest?"

Can they call refusal to get out of the car "resisting arrest?"

They had to drag the driver out of the car and it looked like he was trying to make a break for it when they threw him to the ground and began assaulting him with about 6 officers to one suspect.

The passenger was getting out of the car and he also tried to make a break for it - I might do the same if I saw my buddy being beaten by the cops.

There are sure a lot of questions about the whole situation. I hope the real answers can be found.

Scary times... How long will it be until every gun owner starts shooting at cops?
