View Full Version : Your Magickal Item Wishlist.

Which altar or magickal item do you most wish/need to acquire at the moment. By sharing the types of items on our wishlist, perhaps people can provide info, to where you can find this item affordably online or off. Or just where they saw a really good example of a cauldron, wand, athame, robe, etc.

So....what is on your wishlist?

I know I'd really like an altar cloth specifically embroidered with pentacles around the edges. But haven't been able to find something like that. And since I can't even sew a button on, it's not like I could make it myself.

I also REALLY need a good robe, but...that is something I won't be able to afford for quite a while.

Other than that, I would really like a Boleen, but haven't found one in my area yet, and haven't even looked into getting one online :)

:) Last year at Samhain, I was amazed at the Halloween items that were at Wal-Mart. They had beautiful velvet capes in black, purple and teal for about $12 that would work until you could make or buy a more elaborate robe.

My Bolline is a white-handled vegetable knife that I found in the knife drawer that I had never used

I sew like magic, Danustouch - what sort of robe do you want, I'm sure we can work out a trade of services or something. I like doing that sort of thing. My taste runs to tunic/dresses, but that may not be your style - but with proper measurements I can do anything.

I'm lucky, when I need a magical object, it usually just shows up.

Hmmmmmm...I'm into the hooded robe type deal. But a tunic dress would be just as nice :) PM me, maybe with some examples, or idea's..and I'll get back to ya on that :) As for exchange of services, I'm not a very crafty person, really. However, I do do readings, and could work out an arrangement as far as that goes, or come up with something else fitting. Oh...interested in Geneology at all? I can also get pretty far in Family History Research, and Geneology research :)

I have my own "wishlist" - it seems long, but I don't "need" any of it. ;) I just hoard pretty shinies like every other corvid I know. :p

Jewellry - anything Raven or Morrigan related, spirals, triskeles, also wolves and owls. Nice gemstone jewellry cheerfully considered. Also looking for a Siberian Blue Quartz pendant.

Craft supplies - mixed tumbled gemstone chips, drilled or non-drilled.

Polished stones: Chrysophrase, Iolite, Lodestone, Green Quartz, Blue Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Obsidian, Hawkseye(also called blue tiger's eye), Tektite

Windchimes - celestial or ivy themed, as well as wolf.

Athames: Nice, plain athames, black handled, oak or copper would be nice.

Nice incense blends; esp. elemental or holiday blends. Stick, self-lighting and resin are all good. :)

Tarot Decks: Tarot of the Old Path, Celtic Tarots (or also seen as I Tarocchi Celtici), Druid Animal Oracle

marf! I don't want much, do I? ;)

In most instances I'm good since I don't use items much. I do a lot of stuff in my head and it works just as well. (I sort of figured that out by accident) However, there are always things I'll see and be like "I'd use that - pity I can't afford it" or "That's gorgeous, I wish I could get it"

For instance, I've been looking for statues, prints, or paintings of gods and goddesses for quite awhile. I came across some lovely porcelain figures at Tuesday Morning last week, and I figured that they'd probably be about $20 or $30 a piece. When I looked at the price, they were $130!! (For those of you who don't know what Tuesday Morning is, its a deep discount store that is only open at certain times during the year) The original price was almost $400 for ONE. Needless to say, it kinda hurt in the gut. lol.

I also wouldn't mind a better setup so that my altar wouldn't be the top of my armoire. I'm short, its kinda tall, and generally anything I actually do with anything I usually do on the floor and I have all the stuff up there for aesthetic and spiritual reminder purposes. I wouldn't complain if after we cleaned out what used to be the playroom (and is now a big storage room) and redecorated if my sister and I could have a setup in there. We're probably going to make it into a sitting room/study anyway. I can live with the setup I've got, it seems to be working out okay, I just wouldn't say no to an improvement.

I'm also quite the jewelry person. I see lots of gorgeous celtic-styled jewelry all over the place, especially online, and I could never afford it usually. I do have an earring set that I found at a nature store, that subsequently went out of business. *shrugs*

Also, many people know that I collect two very interesting "creatures" - bats and dragons. I feel an interesting kinship with both. I have stuffed animal bats, bat lights, and various other bat things that I usually pick up around Hallowe'en time all over my room. Dragon things are harder to come by for any sort of reasonable price, but the few things I have give my room a better sense of security, and if you'll believe it, a sort of calm. Although these are debatable as "magical items", they help me keep my energy intact at a level that I can deal with. Occasionally I'll get that "I have GOT to get out of my skin" feeling and it makes me NUTS. So, well, anything to keep that out of the way most of the time...it really messes me up.

My mam-in-law and sis-in-law just recently went to New Orleans and ask what I wanted while they were there.
"black candles and a bolline"
They called me at work and said the shop owner had no idea what they were talking about!
:rotfl:
They called home later and left a message with hubby that they'd found one. At which point I tried and tried to call them to tell them to take it back cause they wouldn't make in through airport security with it:eek:
I found out the next morning that hubby didn't take a complete message. They found one but it had to ordered and would be UPS'd to me. Still waiting for it.:( But I do have the black candles now!:)

I can do wedding dress designs. . . I like to actually fit people if I'm making them, but i'm always happy to draw/ send ideas.

Hmmm... I'd like an athame, I suppose, since I don't have one. Or a really nice altar cloth. Although it sort of seems a waste to spend money on an altar cloth, because I know perfectly well that I'm only going to drop incense ash, wine, and candle-wax all over it at some point.

I wish I wish I wish Starlight, StarBrite...........

I want a good 2 foot piece of birch harvested with the correct
ritual during the waxing moon. My birch wand was destroyed.

I want a good 2 foot piece of cherry harvested with the correct ritual during the waxing moon. My son needs to make his first wand.

I want to find my hard to find herbs cheaper than my current internet site :( I cannot afford to make the candles and incense I need.

I want to get more puter knowledge and make a webpage with lessons for beginners that is interactive and will help answer a lot of questions as to what to read, where to buy, what you need etc...

I want to find a large piece of elestial for meditation and vision that I can afford. That stuff has gotten so expensive :(

I wish I had not read this thread cause now darn it all I am bummed and am heading to the freezer for a Ben & Jerry date :(

Just a note for the people who want cloaks - if you can sew at all or have a friend who can, that's the cheapest way to get a nice one - the popularity of Ren Fests and historical reinactment means that there are costume patterns made for them by every company.
you can get fabric cheaply just by checking the bargain racks at your local fabric store - heck, I got raw silk for $2.88 a yard yesterday!

Cloaks are usually very simple patterns to follow, and are a good first project if you haven't made a whole garment before.

Believe it or Not, I find black candles at dollar stores fairly easily. The cheapo ones that come four or five tapers to a box. Other than that, I do know that Yankee candle has them year round, in the fragrance called midnight somethingorother. And many places have them scented clove, or some brands even "harvest.".

OOO! I find tons of stuff at the dollar store, but I'm like Azure, when I need something, it finds me. I usually prefer ordinary things rather than ones made specifically for their purpose. I use a large charcoal pan from the bottom of a grill as a cauldron and I've found the most amazing stuff at the dollar store and at yard sales. I've said this somewhere else before but, my altar pentacle was one of those marble covered cheese dishes that I painted the pentacle onto. I use it to keep certain things safe from the kitty ;)

I get the dollar fabrics all of the time at WalMart. You have to look often to get the good fabrics quick but I make my own clothes often so I look everytime I go for groceries. I also make bags for Tarot cards and amultes.

I don't know about a wish list exactly. I'm going to think about that some more :D

Most of the things on my altar at the moment, I've gotten either from the dollar store, out of my tagsale travels, or as gifts. Before this year, EVERYTHING on my altar was from tagsales, fleamarkets, and dollar stores. But the elves were very good to me this yule ;)

One pentacle I had on my altar, was just a piece of wood, that my friend woodburned a pentacle into for me. You can get those flat circular pieces of wood at a craft store for like...99 cents.
And woodburning sets are very cheap, especially if you get them at a toy store :)

My friend once gave me a little chrystal star shaped candy dish that she got at a dollar store, with some candy in it for Yule, and I use the lid to keep my salt in, and the bottom to keep my water in. Pretty much everything else I have on my altar now, are things that have been given to me as gifts. But at one time, I had an athame I picked up at a flea market, A Carved Raven statue I picked up at a consignment shop, a Deer Figure I picked up at a trading post, and Candle holders I picked up at a flea market :)

I also used a dollar store figure of a fairy for a goddess statue at one time, and a statue of a wizard I picked up at the dollar store as a god statue at one point.

Recently, At the dollar store, I saw a bunch of Egyptian Busts that would be perfect for a Tamerian or Egyptian practitioner, they had a female and male set :) Fake Bronze, but very nice :)

On my fertility altar, I even have a ceramic statue I got from a dollar store, of a mother holding her child, and a silver bowl (cauldron) that I got from a tagsale for 1.00 , and a little pot (previously used for a cactus) as a dish to hold some seeds and fertility herbs, it has kokopelli painted on it, and is southwestern in design.

There are two regular black candles at Yankee Candle one is Midsummer's Night and the other is Licorice. I use them both.

I am a great fan of yard sales, estate sales, garage sales, etc. I can find anything at them. Really wonderful stuff for practically nothing - I've got one lady who regualrly sells me heavy strands of real Baltic amber for $5 - she's very wealthy and shops out of boredom. I've got another who owns a design business in Atlanta and sells left over fabrics here, including leather for next to nothing. And I can always find cool stuff.

Michaels has the gel supplies on sale now for candles, those can make beautiful black candles!!! I have also painted clear holders black and put those foil stars on before I paint and when you pull them off it is really pretty.

I have narrowed my list to some birch wood as long as I can get and a big of a piece of cherry as I can get......

I found a local place that will order seedlings of almost every herb and flower I would ever think to need. For a lot of those rarely used I could dry the seedling and have a 2 year supply!!!

Today was a good day!:)

Me too.....I get most of my stuff at the Dollar Store and have problems finding black candles. (Which is why I had the in-laws pick some up in New Orleans.) But like you said, Samhain is coming up soon.

I am looking for a cauldron at every yard sale I stop at. So far no luck; but I was able to find a crystal bell, a chalice, some small jars which I intend to paint, etc, etc. So I may not find my cauldron but a ton of other stuff is coming my way!:)

Midsummers Night Is the One I was thinking of. Smells Just like Drakkar :) I love it.

Try outlet stores for black candles, too, or craft stores.

For Cauldrons, you wouldn't believe it, but GARDEN CENTERS!! No kidding. Some have the plastic types, but a couple I've been at actually have some metal ones. Does it have to be black? I've seen a few bronze ones, and even a set of white ones. Both could easily be painted black :)

On the candles, again, black votives are much cheaper, and easier to find than black tapers or pillars (unless you use yankee, or go to something like Wicks & Sticks) You can usually find black votives in clove or licorice scent at any place that sells handmade candles. If you wanted to buy a bunch of them, then you could easily melt them down, and shape them into pillars, or tapers, and just buy new wicking at a craft store :)

Flaire, I was in Wal-Mart yesterday; the craft section.
They had small pottery type couldrons out for Halloween. They had different "Halloween" type sayings and fire underneath them. Your supposed to paint them. The one I liked said "Witches Brew" on it. I thought I'd get one of these till I found what I'm really looking for -the cast iron kind- but; alas, no extra money this week....maybe next week!:)

Last year at one of our grocery store chains, I bought a beautiful ceramic cauldron that had flames painted on it with a candle inside. I thought it would make a perfect cauldron when the candle was gone but alas, I couldn't get the remains of the candle out no matter how much boiling water I used! So I tossed it :(

My current cauldron is a small stoneware soup bowl with a lid that I found at an antique shop for $1 :)

There is one item on my wish list that I know I'll never have.:(
Mama had this big cast iron cauldron I never told her I wanted it, cause I just never pictured her gettin rid of it. At the yard sale this year I noticed she had a for sale sign on. I asked what she was gonna try to get for it. She said $50.00. I still didn't say anything cause I didn't think it would sell and I figured she needed the 50 bucks and IF she could get it then good for her. I was so disappointed when I stopped by after work and it was gone. Yes, I could have bought it, but I didn't have the cash. If I'd spoke up I'm sure she'd have given it to me. OH WELL Live and Learn.

I've got a question? How much would you pay for one of those little cast iron cauldrons?
The reason I ask is this:
We made a trip today to my local "Witch Store" (as Hubby calls it).
I was taking in a stone to have mounted as a necklace for my son and to pick up a few items. (She had black candles by the way.
;) ) I found a little cast iron cauldron for around 20 bucks. I picked it up a couple of times to take to the register but both times, the penny pincher that I am, I took it back.
On the way home I told Hubby I nearly bought it, he said I should have, I said yeah, but you know how I am. So, like I said what would be a decent price for a small one. I know Freyja said she found a big one for like 15.

Also, on the staff thing. The shop keeper said she sells on consignment so Hubby is thinking about making and trying to sell some staffs there. So if anyone is interested this might be a good time to let me know.

But I thought that might be a little much.

I'm almost never happy with the things on my altar.

I'm not allowed to burn candles/incense, but i was thinking of sneaking some in and just burning it when everyone was out  ;). I would also like some pillar candles, 3, in white, red, and black. They sell them at yankee candle .. maybe next trip to the mall i'll get some :). I want the big kind, house warmers .. i don't know if you southern folk have yankee candles at your malls, heh. But they're about, oh .. 8 inches high, 5 inches across, countained in glass, smell wonderful and burn forever and ever .. until you run out of wick and wax :). i wanted smells that would be in harmony with each other, in case i lit them all together. I was thinking of raspberry, coconut, and some type of black candle that doesn't smell really nasty. Heh.

I would also like a proper athame. My old one was lost in the woods :(. I also lost my old wand awhile ago, but today i made a new one, from the same plant.

When I was in boston, i saw nice little dragon shaped censors .. they would be neat to have too. Ever the economy witch, i figure a blue dragon plus earthy incense has every element covered :).

My altar is new .. i supposed i'll get used to it, but it looks kinda weird. When i use it, i move it into the center of the room, and at the right time, the light from both windows shines in on it.

Yeah, that's my wishlist for my altar :)

Okay, I've seen ones on the web that size for less than $15. Of course sometimes you have to pay a little more for something because it's available and convenient. :)

Yeah, available & convenient. And, by the time I paid shipping charges on line it'd be 20 bucks anyway. But, I think I'll keep looking around a little more. Besides, If I tell Mama-in-Law I want it as a Christmas gift, I'll have it. She's good about that kind of stuff!

Here's a link to buy a bolline!

http://www.eclecticpaganshop.com/moon_crest_bolline.htm

That bolline looks JUST like the one I have (bought it here in town at the local Old Court Days). Though.. I bought mine for $8. 8O

HUGE cauldrons: http://www.eclecticpaganshop.com/larger_sized_cast_iron_cauldrons.htm

My wish list would include..
Bodhran (a type of drum)
Celtic Lap Harp
A ritual "robe" of ivory crushed velvet bodice with emerald green sleeves and skirt.. with a cloak of a deep chocolate brown, able to be worn in summer and winter.
some more of those little charcoal disks...
more dried herbs (runnin' low)
herb seeds
cauldron (I know whre I can get one that's 6 inches across without the lid for $10, with lid for $15)
an outside altar underneat a willow tree beside a lake
a small, round altar table
a Statue of Loki and Demeter
a hazel wand
an apple-wood wand
------
That's really about it. I guess I'm one of the few that was lucky enough to find a crescent-shaped bolline! I came upon it by accident, really, last year. It's a wonderful little tool and it's rather heavy to hold! Though I bought my bolline for $8, the asking price of $25 above is well worth it!

My athame was $12, and I love it so much. I know a place about 45 mins from me where I can get a black-handled knife for about $24 or even $10. It all just depends on how big you want it.

I do make wands, though finding the wood is tough.

And if anyone can SEW and would be able to give me an estimate on how much that "robe" I want would cost (I wear a size 3 dress).. I would be glad to pay someone to make it.. or I would exchange for services or purchase some tools for you in return!

PM me or contact me ala messanger:
MSN: merlyns_nimue@hotmail.com

I hope my bolline link helps. It's hard to find even online!

With regard to how much your dress would cost - well, first things first, if you want to work from a pattern, or alter an existing pattern it will cost you anywhere from $6 to $20 for the pattern. If someone drafts a pattern from your measurements, if they are charging you by the hour it will cost at least that much.

What do you mean by "crushed velvet" - the sixties/seventies style fabric can probably be found at a thrift shop or garage sale if you can find a pair of drapes the right color.

If you mean modern strech panne velvet, you can get it for $4-$12 per yard depending on quality and where you buy. If your robe is a dress style rather than a literal robe which is larger, it may cost less, because it may use less fabric.

If you want cotten velveteen, which would honestly be my choice, it's probably $8-10 per yard.

Notions - closures like zippers or lacing, trim, thread and so on will also cost you.

If you don't sew yourself, your seamstress may charge you either by the hour (usually a minimum of $10 per hour) or give you a set charge for the whole project.

I would offer, but I'm really committed - if you don't have it in a couple of months, PM me and we'll talk.

meanwhile, here are some thoughts:

1. Most New Agey stores over charge for what they sell you, so if you buy premade comparason shop!!!

2. If you have a nearby university with a theatre department, call the costume shop and see if there's a talented student who can do it for you - you'll get something that no one else has, and likely a high quality garment, at a reasonable price.

3. Check eBay's costume pages regularly - there's a lot of Ren Fest and SCA stuff that is pretty nice at good prices.

4. As you, like me, are a small size, check out chivalrysports.com and renstore.com - sometimes they put their extra small sizes on sale (they both produce RenFest wear) since they don't sell a lot of them.

5. Check out your local SCA group for people who sew well, especially if you want to trade goods or services.

Loki Panwit,
Thanks for the boline link. As I said earlier my in-laws got me one. I THOUGHT! I called to let them know I hadn't received it yet and they said cause they didn't order it while they were down there but they would. So I'll have to steer they sister-in-law toward the "net". My birthday is coming up!;)

Azure...I looked at walmart. They didn't have any crushed velvet or velveteen fabric. And I haven't been able to get to a store that DID sell other fabrics while I had the money on me to buy any :( But..I'll be making a trip to Michaels Craft Store again in a week or so, do they carry fabric? If so..I'll look there.

Oh..and for people searching for Cauldrons, I found little eensy weensy iron cauldrons at Michaels Craft Store. They are meant to hold votive candles, I believe, though you can't really tell. Look around in your craft stores. This time of year, you'd be surprised at what you can find!

Azure
September 10th, 2002, 12:11 PM
Michael's doesn't really carry fabric. I will start looking around here myself for really good sales if you like.

Almost forgot - the above was a response for Loki - any fabric you like, as long as it drapes well and is reasonably heavy, will do. So if you decide you want something like a chambray, that will work well for your robe too. . . Or even a raw silk, although that would be a lighter weight garment. Actually, for the robe, velvet and velveteen might be a bit heavy. You probably want something that's more of a suiting weight - not super light and gauzy, but not really heavy either. A panne velvet would probably suit better (think high quality velour when I say panne) than actual velvet.

oh and can you melt a spell used candle wax into a candle again and reuse it? PM me if you know.

and a good knife. mine can barely cut my skin no matter who or how long its sharpened.

AS for the fabric you guys want... if your in a more rural area there are usually little old grannie style fabric shops. sometimes they overprice things that everyone sells but they tend to have things you'll find nowhere else and at a good price.

WhooHoo, that sounds beautiful! I found these incredible cloth gift bags at a dollar shop that are perfect for protective covers for things like my self-blessing mirror and crystal ball.....they are velvet with silver glitter crescent moons and stars and came with a matching cord to tie them shut......

I posted in a few other threads about my cauldron.....its a pot-belly cast iron three-legged one, around a foot high and about 5 or 6 inches in diameter......it was very rusted and came with some sort of pestle. I found it sitting on the floor at a flea market when I was just about to walk out empty handed. It was marked down to $25. Azure Green sells one not quite this big for $42.50 new.

Doing my errands on Christmas Eve, I saw an older gentleman that I met through the restaurant going into his antique shop to close it, I stopped in to wish him a happy holiday and asked him about it - he couldn't find the right book, but showed me some of their other cast iron goods and told me that whether it's "very old" or not, I got a great buy. He said that the pestle thingie may not even belong to it. I also had quite a time keeping a straight face when he told me that some people rub them in salt and bury them in the ground - to make them rusty :eyebrow: If that's the case, then it's already nice and charged for me.......

Nope, not redundant at all! I'll post a pic if I ever get time......I'm just very curious as to its history. The tag on it said "very old" and since it was a booth-type flea market, the seller wasn't there to ask. There is no manufacturer name anywhere on it, and there is a small chip on the rim....which that pestle thingie fits right into. The bottom was the only part that wasn't rusty, and it's obviously been exposed to an open flame. All I can find on the web are people selling them.

My son and I mused that it may have belonged to a real witch and might have come with a visitor ;)

What kind of surface do you use for your altar? You could get a glass plate (or clear plexiglas) cut to match the size of your altartop. Put cloth down, glass on top of cloth, stuff on top of glass. Easy to clean.

 I took my Reiki III initiation last Monday. My Reiki Master and I spent a lot of time getting off track and talking - and she ended up showing me her identical cauldron! Pestle and all! She had received hers as a gift and also has no idea what the pestle thing is......

celticspirit: I find a lot of my altar cloths in the fabric remnants section at Wal-Mart, sometimes for as little as 25 cents. Candles are available anywhere - grocery stores, dollar stores, drug stores, etc. and you can pick up a few at a time. Birthday candles even work well if you can find a good holder or make one out of Fimo or Sculpey clay. White can be substituted if you don't have the color candle that the working calls for.

Some herbs can also be found at drug and grocery stores, such as lavender, sage, peppermint, etc. You may have to go to a speciality shop or look online for rose hips or find them in a health food store.

Again, search this forum for your spells and check out the "Everyday Magick" thread in the Stuck thread at the top of this forum on Magickal Basics. The beauty of our craft is that we can use just about anything that's lying around :D

The only item I'm not completely happy with at the moment is my athame- I picked it up at a Ren Faire like 7 years ago because it seemed to be all right and I thought I needed one *now*. It never really *called* to me. It's the length of my fingertip to wrist, just a wee thing, with celtic knotwork on the handle along with a shamrock, and a sodalite looking stone in the pommel. A mass-produced thing.

What I would love to have in its stead is a dagger a bit larger than that, with a natural antler shed for the handle. The pommel would be where the antler met the deer's head, and would look the same as it did when it fell off- no polishing, no carving, nothing. Though if I could get my Dad's antler from him, it would have red crayon on that end, where I colored it to look like "blood" when I was little. :hehehehe: That was a cool antler.

And I think I'd like a new altar pentacle, the one I made out of a round mirror and blue nail polish has seen better days. Not sure what I'd replace it with, and it's very low-profile, so it's all right for now.

I'd *love* to have my own circle space outside on my property somewhere, but the spot we were going to do that with turned itself into a firepit this summer with no room for ritual stuff. Maybe I can take a tromp thru the woods at the tail end of winter and see if there's a clearing out there, among the vines and bushes and whatnot.. Not looking forward to that though, it's mostly swamp back there...

And I did an ISO in another forum for a turtle pent necklace. That would be cool. :D

I think, as a kind gesture, I'll randomly pick one member and buy a Yule gift. I think it's a neat thing to do, and it makes people happy. But it won't be anything radical, like a brand new car or something... :p

Okay! I'm going to make a little "lottery" thing.

I just made a list of everyone's wishes, when I realized the majority of the posts were in 2002... x_x

I'm remaking the list, because I've just realized that everyone's wishes from last year may have been fulfilled to some extent!

So here's the deal. Post what you want, and I'll make a numbered list of each poster... each member gets only one number. Your wishlist may be of any Godsawful size you please.

I will download a random die roller from the internet, and use it to generate a random number. The holder of the number that is generated wins, but wins only ONE item from the wishlist, within my budget.

I can grant a great amount of leeway on the money aspect. I can probably afford a nice sword, but I won't do anything ridiculous like buy people a new jetski, or fund a private world-conquering army.

1) Right now, everyone who has posted as of 2003 will be on the wishlist.
2) I will use no bias for or agaisnt any member. This will be an ABSOLUTELY random pick.
3) Those who post will get only ONE number.
4) The winner gets only ONE item (a silver sword, a bulk of herbs, a craft set, etc.)
5) I will NOT include myself on the lottery. That's just stupid. :p
6) I have set up a $100 - $150 limit, but it might be more... it all depends on my finances.
7) The only thing I expect back from the winner is, perhaps a word of thanks, but more importantly happiness with a new gift. I refuse to be paid back in any way.
8) I encourage everyone else to perform acts of kindness this Yule, and help those in need. :)

If this is okay with everyone else (and if it's within the jurisdiction of the rules and by mol's word), I'll go through with it. I hope and pray this doesn't turn into a weird political battle, as precious Yule is approaching, and I see this as a time to perform a kindness to a stranger or friend, and bring happiness in an already dark world.
Please don't email me, as Yahoo is already evil with spammage. u_u;
If I cannot buy something, I will handmake an item. I'm an artist, and I also got a new crafts book, so there's plenty of neat things to do. :)
The deadline will be Nov. 30, because shipping times are evil. I will try to get things to arrive by Yule.

And another note: I will not purchase anything dangerous, or socially harmful. Socially harmful deemed thusly: your state has weird laws about swords, parents do not allow magick practice in the house, etc.

Blessed be. :)

Actually, a really good idea would be a Yule gift exchange. You only have to participate if you wanted to, and if we wanted it to be secret, we could have assigned numbers to each person participating & one of the Moderators(Mol?) keep track of the addresses. We could keep the price below a certain amount, and if shipping would be too much, the giver could get a person in their area to keep costs down.

Just an idea lol :)

Okay, I thought about this, and what I would like to have is an outdoor altar, sheltered a bit and away from prying neighbors (that's my problem) where I could really leave offering and objects and meditate, and set up memorials for people and so on. Someday I hope to have something like that.MEEEE TOOOOO ! # 1 on my wish list ! (I have thouht about it many times.... 5 semi permanent walls outside (like the asian-style moveable ones) or even a tight knit lattice........ a hexagram shaped little outdoor space.... perhaps a little table and a place to put a large comfy pillow..... and vines growning up the sides of the walls. of coure the top opens up to the sky... but maybe it has a screen that can use when its really buggy outside. :)
Or even more elaborate with a little pond with fish encircling it..... AHHHH my wish.... an outdoor space to do my thing... away from prying neighbors. :) AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh

I would say the thing I would most like on my wish list of supplies is....TIME. You can't buy this at Walmart of your local herb store. hey, by all means, if I could buy a device to stop time long enough for me to just catch up on my daily activities, that would be the best tool yet.

I would have to say however, I'd like a really nice incense burner. I have seen this one that I haven't gotten up enough umpf to buy yet. It's all in this material that looks like stone and at the base of the burner is a gargoyle w/ red eyes almost staring at the smoke. I have some other gargoyles so it would make a perfect edition to my collection of incense burners...I have 4 so far...I could always use another one...ha ha..

I usually get creative with tools and make most of my things. In most cases, in books and in wiccan stores, you see these tools and think that is the way they have to be. I feel that is not so...whatever works for you. Plus, the more creative you are at making a tool, the more unique it is to you and the more special it becomes.

With my "I must craft things, all things, whatever I can get my hands on!" streak lately, being a secret-witch (santa my ass! ) sounds like fun. We should totally get this idea going.

If I cup my hand together; it was a little smaller than that, complete with handle and lid.
But I thought that might be a little much.

Hmm..that doesn't sound too big...

I got one at a store here in Philly for about 20 bucks or so...it's about 6 inches wide and has 3 legs and a handle. Best 20 bucks I ever spent. It's small, I can take it anywhere, and works really well for whatever purpose you may use it for. I love to burn incense on charcol on it and even burn other things.....but when I'm not using it, it makes the perfect little candy dish!

If you are saying it was one of those teeny tiny ones that are only about 3 inches wide, then yeah, I'd say shop around first...you might find a bigger one for about the same price.

and lastly, don't forget about THRIFT STORES! My sister found a huge cast iron pot in one for only about 5 bucks, complete with big handle and lid. So...when's dinner?

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!

I'm back. Sorry for the absence... computer got fried, so I'm using a different one. I've already PMed Feather. I PMed Mol a longass time ago, but I don't remember anything concerning a "go-for-it" deal.

I'm tight on money, so I'm crafting. I've been stopping around all sorts of fall garage sales, and I've found things that would make altars with a little bit of work. Since I have no access to a sewing machine, I have to work by hand. I'm making a quilt right now, and Gods is it taking forever. But then again, I'm not focused on completing it. 9_9
I may make some ritual-wear in the future, though. :)
