My fiance and I would like to have a Hands tying ceremony instead of a traditional christian wedding. There's only one problem, we can't find anything. I am new to being pagan, so I have no idea were to go. Any suggestions?

I'ma skeered! :shaker: Freyja said something about cuffs instead
of a ribbon, and whips and chains........so maybe there is a difference
between tieing and fasting?:T

Just wanted to say thanks for the info, but as it turns out we are not going to be able to have it because of family opinions. Since I'm new at this, I have a dumb question, you don't perform handfastnings on Halloween, right? Being that you can chose to do it for a year and a day, that makes this Halloween a year and a day before our Christian wedding.

you can do a hand fasting whenever you want! We,(Freyja and I)
are having ours on Feb. 2. (some kind of sabbat? candlemass?)
anyway, why worry about opinions? Do what you and your lifemate
want and let others spectate if they want or they can go golfing.:D

Candlemas, or Imbolc, yep, you got it Flar. My favourite Sabbat, a symbolic ('cos it's still really cold) end to winter. Kind of appropriate I feel!!!

and remember, 'a year and a day' is 365 days, not 366!
(yeah i know, a minor detail...).
and your handfasting can be whenever you want, although there is SO much going on at Samhain that it seems you might not want that date. but this is YOUR day, and your opinions are the only ones that should matter. and if it's not a legal wedding, then who cares about other opinions, right? do it with those who DO understand, and call it good!
in any case, good luck to you both!

I agree.
This if for the 2 of you.
Do it for yourselves.
Thought about having 2 cermonies.
One private one for ya'll and another for the families?

Hubby and are are planning to re-new our vows and I'm thinking of doing a handfasting type cermony for that. Ideas anyone might have would be appreciated.
