Hey Everyone... I've had my avatar for a while now and although I think its really pretty.. I think I need a new one. So I thought I would us this opportunity to ask where everyone got their avatar's and what they looked for in their selection. Anyone? :bigredgri

I scanned mine, then played with various ways to reduce it down.

I had recently purchased "Witch Trial' from "Cheapass Games". (It's not about burning Witches... it's about trying Nice Tall Annie for the crime of "showing ankles", and other such Victorian faux pas.)

In the game credits, they thank Mr. Gibson for his art, which is now public domain.

Since at the time I was deep in discussions of corsetry, and was raised in the wrong decade anyhow, it seemed to fit. :)

I've had a few different avatars.
The first custome avatar I had was made for me by a member of our community at the Avatar Store as Old Witch mentioned.
The one I'm using now I found on a site that posted Cowgirl Avatars. After I found it and a few others, I posted them at the Avatar Store where one of our friendly and helpful community members (Flaire) re-sized them for me.

I searched for "luna moth" on images.google.com, found one that wasn't copyrighted, copied it to my hard drive, resized it and cut it down a bit smaller... (I just like luna moths. I used to go by the name LunaMoth on some boards, but it was taken on this one, so in a fit of non-creativity I went with my real name instead. ;))

you can basically use any picture you want to, then resize it and upload it. It's not that difficult if someone explains it to you!!!!!

my avatar is a resized picture of myself that i took about a year ago.

i changed it once, but i went back to this one because i really like it.

i'm probably going to working on it more... a few people here used it to make avatars cause they rock.

my site is down at the moment, so if you try the link and it doesn't work, try later.. i think my host's server crashed and they haven't realized it yet. it's not like them to let the server be down for long....

I have come to realize over time and there are very few people interested in knowing who I am (this has little to do with MW actually, it all revolves around another forum I've been on for about 6 years now). When I came to that realization, I decided if people didn't want to know, then I wouldn't bother giving them the privilege of knowing details up front unless they asked. So I removed most of the info from my profile, and took down all my pictures, including my avatar. I put up this one instead.

I google aan image that ISN'T copyrighted and just save it to my docs. When you are editing your av, just choose that file; I just go with whatever peaks my interest at the time, like the one I have now is from a video game my sister played. Very twisted game, too.

When I get tired of an avatar, I go looking for whatever fits my mood of the moment. In the past I have used symbols, pictures of me in costume, favored art, cartoon characters, and anything else that suits my fancy.
