View Full Version : Spellcrafting Class?

Would anyone be interested in taking a spellcrafting class?

It would take a look at spellcrafting as applied to any religion. Id go over what a spell is, timing, catalysts (ie: herbs, etc), recording results, why divine before a spell, backlash, research, how to write a neat-o rhyme, what can increase your chances of success, etc.

I know there used to be a basics of spellcrafting class, but I didn't see a current spellcrafting class. I love writing and research, so spellcrafting is one of my passions. I'm already working on my coven formation class, so I thought I'd put this out there and see if anyone would be interested in it?

What I meant to say, is that the lessons wouldn't come from a strictly Wiccan background, ie: we wouldn't talk about setting up circles, or the ritual part of spells... just the 'meat' of the working sandwich. This way, the lessons could be applied to any path. :)

Ok so you mean not learning how other paths do spell work is that what you mean? Sorry for being such a ditz at the moment :)

Not at the moment... more like the practical applications, though I'd love to do a history lesson eventually... that would be really interesting. ;)

I know there was a spellcrafting class a few years back. Faewyn taught it. I wonder if she'd be interested in reprising it.

There's the archive link: http://mysticwicks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=95

I looked through her class, and it seems as though it was taught utilizing casting circle, altars, athame's, etc. Which is awesome (as I'm Wiccan, and I use all of that in my spells), so thats why I offerred to teach it from a non-ritual perspective...

... but if she wants to re-teach it, I will happily back off. :)

No no, I misread, I thought you wanted somebody to TEACH a spellcrafting class, not to actually teacher YOUR OWN class.

Sorry.

I would be very interested as well!

I have casted spells here and there, mostly protection, good luck, empowering. But since i have been more focused on the religious part i would like to study spellcrafting more now and hone my skills.

I'm also thinking of creating a Spellworking class to follow this one- taking the basics of writing/performing of a spell (which we'll cover) , and go a little more in depth. I am looking forward to sharing thoughts with y'all!

Could someone let me know if/when this might come to fruition? I love the idea of a non-Pathbased spellcasting class!

If you want to, you can go ahead and sign up for circleofteaching.com, and join my class there. The dates are very obviously wrong, but I'm working on getting that corrected, and you can introduce yourself in the class "introduce yourself!" forum. :)

Am I too late to sign up?

Nope, not too late at all.. the class doesn't start until September 1... just go to circleofteaching.com and register... then enroll in Spellcrafting. Just be aware that we are guinea pigs for the new COT, and none of the other classes are active yet. :) Once all the COT bugs are out, more people will be beginning their classes.

We fixed a bug in the COT, and this bug caused some of you to be UNenrolled in the class. Please re-enroll if you are still interested in taking this class, and accidentally was deleted! This shouldn't be a problem from now on....

Hi,

What days or evenings will you have it.

Since the COT is all online, it will be whenever you like. There will be a new course and assignment(s) released each week. I'll post more about it when enrollment reopens, but its a pretty analytical look at spellcrafting, that can be integrated into whatever your beliefs/religion/gods are. :weirdsmil

I must say it is very welcomed for me such a class because I am having a conflicting fight with the idea of gods, and having to ask a god or some other juju I doubt,so spellcraft from this point of view is excellent.I jus t cannot cope with spells involving some gods,or invoking gods,it feels stranged, would be like invoking myself ,that is how it feels like.I am more drawn to the personal developing of skills and magical power than asking a god for help and assistance. It would be more smart, and enriching to do everything and really learn.Thank you Ivy and hope you would accept me as a student.
