Beta testing a new feature

Down at the bottom of the page you will see a new stat of 'Who's been online today?" This will be an accumulated tally that will be done daily showing who has been on for that particular day. :)

What can I say? I love meaningless stats. The hack was fun to write though. Anyway, if anything weird happens then please report the bugs in the problems forum.

I am aware of the mysql_num_rows error that happened a little while ago and that should be fixed.

Also, it will only show you in the list if:

1. you hit the home page
2. you login
3. you register (as in new users ya know)

There ya go...

The reason I ask is that there are people NOT on the list that I know have been on MW today . . .

Okay, its not going to be totally accurate today.

Reason: it works on the fly, so...people that were on this morning were not caught by the system. When it resets tomorrow then it will catch everyone that comes on.

Daily...sure...some people only visit once a week or so, some only subscribed for the newsletter. Now we can get some hard stats! :p

I dunno. I think that as the list gets longer it will slow down the front page. I think I am going to recode it with a link. That way, if you want to see who all was on today then you can. Otherwise, it wont try to grab that list from the database every time someone hits the front page.

Thats just you. It would only effect the front page. Anyone noticing a performance hit?

Its getting quite long right now, but I think I like it. Im still undecided on if I should make it a seperate page or not.

And yes, it is in the order people logged in today. Which, I didnt even realize...and I wrote the thing! :p

Im not noticing any real performance problems. But, Ive also no dialup to check it out with.
