Does anyone else do dance meditation? I was looking on youtube and found this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QsGKv1livE&feature=related) In watching this video it reminded me how in the past I have done dance meditation versus how others do it... So I put out the question to all of you have you tried this type of meditating before and if so how? And if not would you be willing to try ?:hahugh:

I do sometimes, best I can describe the style is as being a sort of belly dance hybrid...

Just turn on the right music, turn out the lights and grab some candles...
then just drift.

:)

So you do dance while you meditate or to a certain point then sit down or lat down and meditate? This is where I differ from alot of people I have talked to before about this. I dance and close my eyes and meditate that way ... and I make sure I have lots of room so I am not tripping over anything. :)

Sounds like what I do.
Maybe it's a hold over from my fire dancing and drum circle days?

I find that when I allow myself to let go and just move, the dance is the meditation. I don't really think, I just move.

I haven't do this enough lately and I really should. Thanks for the reminder.

I've done it before but there are some precautions one must do if they are doing it inside, i.e. remove pets so you don't step on them and watch out for furniture. Otherwise, you'll end up like me with scratches on your leg (from an angry cat) and bruises (from dancing into furniture). 8O

Yup, the dance is the meditation. I do it quite often. Its a wonderful way to feel spirit come alive.
Dance can also be a prayer or ritual and all sorts of expressions or no expression at all! ;)

Yes, I have. I find that a physical form of meditation is better for me because I am too hard on myself regarding regular meditation.

I talked about this with a group of mine at work but I hate "sitting down" meditation because this is what goes on in my head...

"I am clearing my mind, my mind is clear, my mind is clear, my nose is itchy, I liked that movie, no...my mind is not clear, not clear, must clear the mind...must take the laundry with me to do after work tomorrow, no, dammit...clear the mind, not clear enough, not clear enough, not clear enough, clear it, clear it, oh screw it!" 8O
