Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have some information on Marie Laveau - I mean I think its magnificent that during a slavery period she managed to make such an impact on society as an african women and until this day we still talk about her - what do you guys think led to this?

Shalaye Sabariego will do well by you (and me) on this. While I cannot share the full personal details in such an open forum, and with one I do not know....I can tell you that I have had personal experience with her and I love her and she was good to me. To me....she "feels like home".

Martha Ward's "Voodoo Queen: The Spirited Lives of Marie Laveau" is a book worth taking a look at as well.

Not non-fiction but Jewell Parker Rhodes Voodoo Dreams: A novel of Marie Laveau, is a wonderful piece of historical fiction that looks at Marie Laveau's life by weaving together myth and fact.
