So welcome everyone to our first group meditation, I want to thank you for your interest and look forward to sharing our experiences with one and other.

Before we get into the swing of meditation I wanted to take a look at breathing techniques. Some types of meditations require certain types of breathing 4 fold, 9 and so on. But for now we are just going to practice simple breathing. So with that I would like you to watch this video and practice what is in it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxCZ6Tgoero)

Ok so here is the typed up version of the video. Some of his speech is very hard to decipher so I typed this out to the best I could based on what I heard.

BREATHING MEDITATION by Robert Morgen'

Basic Exercises
Touch your tongue lightly to the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth
This is extremely important as it completes the connection between your energy meridians and it helps your energy flow more easily. Remember to do this all the time.

Breathing. Breathing is by far the most important part of energy work and meditation although it sounds simple. Paying attention to the breath is the beginning of openning up your awareness and it is seen in every culture on the planet. Breathe in through your nose, draw your breath down
into the area just below your navel. Allowing your stomach to expand as you breathe and filling your lungs entirely with each breath, before exhaling through your nose. This is the way babies breathe, it's the way young kids breathe, before they learn to hold thier energy up high in thier chest. Its very natural
and relaxing.

Take a moment right now and feel your breath. Pay attention to the air as it flows through your nostrils and down into your lungs. Don't think about anything, or do anything .. just breathe.

Draw your breath down to a point about 2 inches belwo your navel. To find this point you can stick your thumb in your navel and let your hand rest below your thumb. When you do this feelyou will feel your stomach expand and
push out in front of you. Most Westerners usually keep their stomach pulled in and their chest out, so if you do this you will have to relax all of that. Just take a moment beware of your breath as it flows down into your center.

Now as you inhale and draw your breath down, also let your rib cage expand. You will feel your floating ribs at the bottom of your rib cage spread and move and you may get a few pops out of your spine also. Now just take a few moments and breathe this way. Don't think or let your mind wonder, just breathe.

Now if you never meditated before then congratulations you just did, it's exactly that simple. Take sometime to practice this as it is the foundation for everything that comes next. If you have to dedicate your meditation time to breath work for awhile then that is ok, as well all proceed at our own pace.

*END OF TALKING IN VIDEO*

ETA: I noticed in the information with the video there is a link (http://spiritualentrepreneur.biz/free-meditation-exercises)
to get more meditation information from Robert Morgan if you have quic time you should be able to listen to what he has to say. So far I like what I have heard.

So practice the exercise in the video for the next week and let us know how it goes :D

ETA: please note these threads and their times that we will be working on them will be in the calendar (http://mysticwicks.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=304)

Ok for those of you who do not have access to the video I am going to type out what it says for the most part but due to my kids constantly being in and out of my room it may take longer then expected. So if it is not up tonight it will be up for sure tomorrow.

Your welcome :D and that Tough your tongue to the roof of your mouth thing I was never able to do before due to breathing problems and when I started doing this video it seems alot easier for me to do some reason.

Look forward to hearing your experiences as you practice through out the week :D

I actually learned to breathe like this about fifteen years ago - it's basic to every vocal training program. :) This is how classically trained singers breathe, and it's the most effective way of maximizing the oxygen you get. I find it really relaxing, too.

The weird thing is that I got so used to it that I breathe this way normally. If I try to breathe with my chest, I feel like I'm suffocating. :weirdsmil Babies breathe like this when they're small, also.

As for me, me and my kids did it together yesterday and it was really neat, my 7 year old went and sat on her bed and right into it. My other daughter also joined in as for my son he tried but just had an accident before where he hurt his nose so I did not expect much from him. So we tried the exercise for 5 minutes and I sure enjoyed doing it with my kids.
