I've recently done a reading to ask for guidance and insight in making a very important, relationship-related decision. For the last six months, I've been thinking of ending a relationship, which - I believe - is restraining my personal development. I'm not sure if I should still try to fix what is broken in this relation and if it's even possible to fix things as they are now. The runes I've got are:
hagalaz for the past
nauthiz for the present
mannaz for the future,
all in upright positions. I have problems with summing them up and creating one clear message, combining three runes. Could someone help me, please?

Hagalaz, representing hail and violent storms, is a rune of massive and sudden change.
Nauthiz is a rune of lack and need.
Mannaz is the rune of humanity and of the self.
What I'm seeing is a past rocked by upheavel, emotional or physical violence (or perhaps both), sudden and painful changes. This has led to the present circumstances where you are feeling a great desire for something, a horrible emptiness that you can't quite seem to fill. The advice for the future is to focus on yourself, stop worrying about others for a short while, and do what you must do to be the best you that you can.
There's a lot of pain in those three runes, and an indication you've been ignoring your needs in favor of pleasing others. This has ripped you apart, and now you have no choice but to focus on and heal yourself.
Hope that makes sense to you!

I basically agree with slight interpretative differences:
I see Hail as not just upheaval but also trouble (stormy emotions, f'rinstance) so I would agree that your past has been tumultuous.
Since Need is 'something lacking' I would see that as an indication of what you have to do or find for the now to get past the trouble.
I read Mannaz as representing the Collective Unconscious as well as one's own subconscious, so I would interpret that as indicating that you need to go inside yourself to discover what you need. In essence, that you know what's lacking already but you need to bring it up from your subconscious and acknowledge it.

First of all, a big thank you!
I've got a very STRONG impression that, due to the crisis that is going on in my spiritual and emotional life, I need to face my fears (which include hurting others and being afraid of the future and loneliness) and leave this situation - no matter how scary it is to make the decision about breaking up! - in order to take better care of myself and develop spiritually in solitude. Any comments?

You're quite welcome!
One of the ancillary interpretations to Hail ('trouble coming' or in your case trouble past) is 'the storm clears the air'
I have written poems for the Runes and Ogham, here's the one about Hail:
It seems there is no choice at all-
The storm beats down fast.
Rain pelts, winds blow, hailstones fall-
The strongest will last.
Cleave to the most dear,
Then the air will clear.

Hagalaz is a rune of both destructive & creative power. It is a rune of destructive forces & disruption. But just like hail turns from ice to water, Hagalaz shows us that time brings changes for the better. This is the rune of Urd, the Norn that rules the laws that shape events, past as well as present, in our lives.
Nauthiz is a rune of guilt & fears; of unfulfilled wishes, needs, & desires. It represents the necessities that constrain us. But Nauthiz also represents the strength to free ourselves from the fears that make us feel unfulfilled. This is the rune of Skuld, the Norn that rules the laws that shape future events in our lives.
Mannaz represents the people in your life, your friends & family, how you relate to them & how they relate to you. In a broader sense, it can symbolize society, social order, etc. Mannaz is also a rune of the Higher Self & the intellect.
Excerpted from RUNE CHARMS: PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF RUNE MAGIC, VOLUME ONE by Rick R. Wilson
If you don't feed energy into the storm, it'll fizzle on its own (takes two to tango).
The image of Nauthiz represents a fire-bow. It is potential fire. You can shiver in the cold, or build a fire & get warm, your choice. Just remember that using a fire-bow isn't like striking a match, it's hard work.
Look at the image of Mannaz. See the two people embracing? This is a relationship rune, representing anyone that you hold very close, that you clasp to you.
Things have been rocky, and may even get worse before they get better. But a lot of it seems to depend on how you choose to see things (ie: is your glass half full or half empty?) & how you choose to respond to things. Look to those closest to you for strength & guidance.
