I was just wondering if anybody here uses Bells in there day to day pagan practice?

Yep :) Many times in fact. We use them at Yule and Imbolc, and sometimes Mabon, as well as other non sabbat related rituals. I also use it when cleansing an area or I need a focal noise in meditation, and I use it when I am doing spell work (at least when I feel the need to). Or in some cases just to lift my spirits.

I use bells and chimes when I need them.

I use them when I begin and end a ritual. Always liked the movie Bell, Book and Candle, so to open a ritual, I ring the bell, open the book and light the candle. To close, I ring the bell, close the book and extinguish the candle. I know, to each his (or her) own. ;)

I also use bells (a bell wand that I made) to begin and end most rituals. Sometimes I forget, but I like to use it as a signal to myself and the Otherworld that I'll be worshiping.

I had tingha I used to use that my mom gave me a long time ago. However, they disappeared when I moved.

I use a single chime that I use in rituals... but I think I might incorporate it into my daily work as well- these posts have given me some inspiration.

I never have, but it sounds like an interesting ideal. I don't really do structured rituals, but it still might be something fun to incorporate. I've tied little tiny bells on my ankles before during rituals, as it's a very airy faerie type of sound to attract the little ones to my work... but a single, larger, gong-ier sound might be something fun and different.

no bells, but I use a gong that serves the same purpose.

To those of you who do use bells: What is the main significance behind your use of the bell. Is it to help banish negativity, or aide in meditation, or to signal the beginning or end of something? Also, what part of it is the significant part. Is it the actual noise of the bell, the shape of the bell, or things inscribed on it? Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

In my path, it is the sound of the bell and when it is used. It is used at the beginning and end to signify start and finish - AND - it is used to "attract attention" or "call"...not just any attention...but the attention of the one you wish to speak/work with or contact..................once you have completed what you whish to communicate it is then used to "release". Again, this can be seen as using it for a "beginning and end"/"start and finish" effect.

I use a tibetian singing bowl.

I use a tibetian singing bowl.

I prefer these as well. They have this harmonizing quality to them that I find better suited for opening a ritual or meditation than the harsher staccato of a bell.

well it can actually be used for all of those things, although in my practice/tradition it is mainly used to banish negativity and in certain other ritual applications.

I use a bell when I'm clearing the house of negative energy. And I've used it during simple rituals to help focus myself.

I did use a bell at one time, and sometimes I still do. But, after getting a gong and a singing bowl I find that I do not use my bell any longer.
