Lavender, chamomile, sage, mint, thyme and rosemary are the ones that make up my little garden at the moment. I am especially fond of the cleansing experience sage gives me and I am falling in love with the smells of lavender and thyme, but I haven't gotten round to using anything but sage yet. These seem to be the most common ones, though, and I always prefer to keep things simple when it comes to working with herbs.

lioncastle,

How do you use vervain? Do you mean Blue Vervain?

Hi Vikinggoddess - yes, I've heard it called Blue Vervain. I have a large patch growing wild across from my house (I live in the Gatineau Hills, West Quebec)...primarily, I dry it and use it as an herb of protection. I use the Bach Flower Remeby for dogs, too, but in magic, I gather the wild plant and use in pouches, and also with hyssop, lavender and rosemary to cleanse and seal my temple.
I try to make use of all the wild plants around my area, in magic, even though many are not classified in the 777 <g> I have developed my own correspondences.

Here's a list of what I'm currently growing in my container garden:

Lemon balm
Chamomile
Rosemary
Lemon/English Thyme
Sage
Chocolate/Pepper Mint
Lavendar
Greek Oregano
French Terragon
Cilantro
Parsley
Dill
Marjoram
Basil
Lemon Verbena

Echinacea
Rue

I absolutely love all of my herbs, but the ones that I simply cannot live without are:

Lemon Balm
Lemon Verbena
The mints
Rosemary
The thymes
Basil
Chamomile
Lavendar

These herbs make fantastic teas (according to my taste buds, anyway). They also make soothing incense, and they are all wonderful for cooking.
