I am beginning in the wiccan religion...could anyone recommend any way of getting myself slowly aquainted with it?

Read....Read.....and READ some more. Books....posts, the net. That's my best suggestion. It's what I did. Then I found MW and well, that just helped me some more. :D

Read and ask a lot of questions. This place is absolutely full of information. Have you checked out the Book Forum? There's a stuck thread at the top of the Book Forum for a recomended reading list. Not that you have to read all the books...just a good place to start. :p

Start with reading the "stuck" threads...Especially in New Pagans...then pick out some areas of interest in the other threads and, um, read some more. No illiteracy here. :D

Read? you bet the more the better, ask questions, but....don't believe everything you read and hear. You can confuse yourself especially when it comes to traditions and so forth. Your religion, your choice.
Have you tried one of the wicca 101 classes? Some are okay, www.witchschool.com has a good one.

Everything that everyone else has said, but just a reminder: take anything you read on a webpage OR in a book with a grain of salt until you're sure of it.
To add on to Greta's 101 lessons:
