There was a big accident this morning on the grid near my town.
Sure they were kids who were being totally irresponsible and stupid, but they didn't have learn the lesson this way. Hopefully it will help the other "dumb" kids in town change their ways so they don't wind up in similar situation; save some lives.
To the family of the "good" one, the Burns's (whose wailing this morning could be heard from my house when they got the news), lots of energy; Keifer the driver (my mum's pet on the schoolbus because he was always polite and tried to keep the rowdier ones in the back in line a little) died at the scene.
To the family of the Stonestand girl who died this afternoon in Hospital, lots of energy.
To the family of Riley Clayton, owner of the truck that was so smashed it was found unrecognizable halfway across the field and who was flown to the hospital in critical condition, lots of energy.
To the Leonard's, Brennan (don't know much about him other than he was into dealing drugs) lots of energy
To the Hourie family, especially my co-worker, who's brother Tyler was also critically injured, lots of energy.
They were estimated to have been going between 140 & 160 km/h. Drugs, alcohol, & speed were definitely factors.
To everyone who feels guilty because they could have prevented this accident by warning, calling the cops when they were burning their tires off around town in the night, by carding them, by not dealing to them, etc .. lots of energy too.
Between our two towns there will be lots of healing that needs to be done.
eta: I am so sad. These kids didn't deserve to die. They didn't deserve to be an example for future years either. Sure they were being stupid, but stupidity isn't a good reason to be snuffed. I knew only two of them by sight, one by association and the other two only by reputation. I am a cold bitch, and the first to admit it, but sometimes it is hard to keep that up. I can't imagine what Gloria Burns is going through, or any of the others. I don't want to. And on another side I think those feelings will be very influential to this whole town.
Struggling ... n ot to understand or accept, but just struggling.
