I just discovered that the country I now call home doesn't celebrate Halloween!! I'm heart broken.... it's my favorite holiday, and has been my entire life.
The country is extremely Christian, however, and I my husband said that they probably all think that Halloween is evil....
Sigh....
I'm thinking about throwing my own Halloween party, except my apartment is barely big enough for two of us (we only have 2 chairs), so having people over won't work....
Sigh....
Just needed to pout a little.... :)

The theatre I work at actually closes on Halloween so that all us actor types can have a big party.
Maybe we can have an online party here???

NO HALLOWEEN!
UNTHINKABLE!
Amethyst is it possible for you to rent a hall or store or something to throw a party. I was gonna rent a little local restaurant one time to throw a birthday party for Hubby but we had an ice storm.
Anyway, if not, like they said....We will party at MW!
We will be throwing our annual Halloween Bash the Friday before the Halloween. So I will be here. After we go trick-or-treating that is!;)
(muttering to self Unthinkable! No Halloween! That is absolutely unthinkable. *shakes head in disgust*)

That is AWFUL Amethyst Rose, Hallowe'en is also my favourite time of year, I spend all year preparing for it and the Hallowe'en decorations at my house never come down (I kid you not, I think my roommate thinks I'm a little off  ).
Might I suggest decorating your place up and just you and your husband celebrating (since you said you can't have people over, that is)?

Aw man, that stinks. I can't imagine not going to a Halloween party or decorating the whole house., doing the whole thing. :(
I think you should still decorate and have a Halloween party for two. Rent some spooky movies, watch by candle lite and make bloody popcorn. (It is corn syrup and red food coloring drizzled over popcorn).
JMHO! :)

That must be quite a conservative Christian country that doesn't recognise Halloween (Samhain.) Halloween is even recognised in the Bible Belt, although some groups apparently prefer to celebrate a "fall festival" because Halloween is "evil."
At any rate, you could celebrate in your own way, as many here have suggested. Make the day special!

I completely agree with the last line.
I am also curious as to what country you are currently residing in. I didn't get them impression that you were living in a "Christian" country.
Also I know that Halloween tends to be more of a Western European/American/Canadian celebration (Japan for example doesn't celebrate Halloween as we know it to be, they celebrate Setsubun which would be the closest equivalent and it's not celebrated in fall).
I hope it works out.

You actually did mention that it was a Christian country and that's what I get for not scrolling back to the top and typing while tired.:)
I am still lead to believe that you live in a country that was visited by missionaries who would not have necessarily imported Halloween over as a holiday because it has nothing to do with Jesus.
Japan for example has a Christian population albeit small and they know of Halloween through the media in its commercialized form. They don't celebrate although many Japanese do and will celebrate Christmas--Christian and non Christians.
