Greetings! I've recently become enamored with Egyptian religion, and may go so far as to take the Kemetic beginner's course, but I'm afraid both my funds and my available resources on the Egyptian gods and goddesses are severely lacking. And so I turn to the next best thing: the internet.

I can easily search for websites myself, but I'm wondering if there are any reliable and accurate recommendations from the crowd. I'm basically looking for resources that give detailed information about the pantheon -- obscure or popular, it doesn't matter.

Thank you in advance!

Howdies :D

If you are interesting in learning more this: http://www.kemet.org/glossary/ is a very good place to start learning about the Gods.

Also this: http://wepwawet.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page will give you a lot more detail on the above Gods, including offerings.

Hope that helps :)

:T I love the complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt book... I'm currently staring at it on my desk right now!

I would also add:

www.sacred-texts.com 's Egyptian section. It might not be beginners, but theres a lot of credible information there :D

Thank you all so much! Those are all perfect. :) And I have the Wilkinson book coming from my local library (pretty much the only book they had even remotely relating to the subject) so I'm really excited for that now.

Hotep! I second what everyone else has said and I'll add my devotional website to the fray (http://sobeqsenu.googlepages.com/). In general, though, there's no information you can't find elsewhere on the internet that you can find on my site; I helped with the Wepwawet and Sekhmet-Mut pages of the Wepwawet wiki so the information gets similar at times.

As a side note, you may be talking about your ability to buy books and such - but I wanted to let you know that the House of Netjer beginners' course is free, so you can take the class even if you are running low on money. Handy, that. The only thing that costs is the Rite of Parent Divination (and that's mostly for the offerings needed), and even then, you can work out a way to pay that works the best for you. :) So no worries!

Thanks, Sobeq! Your site looks like another great resource.

I'm so glad the beginner's course is free of charge. :D I'm a student, and while I have an excess of free time it seems, the same cannot be said for money. If I like the beginner's course, I do plan to have the divination done, so I'm even more glad that there's financing options!

www.sacred-texts.com 's Egyptian section. It might not be beginners, but theres a lot of credible information there :D

A quick warning on Sacred Texts: they usually only have free domain texts, which means most of their Egyptian translations are by E. W. Budge, who is... not credible or reliable. So when looking at translations, check the translator, and if it's Budge, take it with an entire block of salt.

One of the better translations of ancient Egyptian texts is R. O. Faulkner's translations. They can be a bit pricey, but they're definitely more accurate than Budge.
