on Wednesday the Dragonfly's boss heads to Italy for three weeks (must be nice!), and in her pocket will be two small pieces of our stone gate. i've asked her to place them at some sacred site in Rome, or wherever feels 'right'. and if possible to bring back a stone to place at the garden.
and in March, another friend is going to Machu Pichu to leave a piece there!
and finally, there is a chance that a couple i will be Handfasting next July will be going to Angkor Wat on their honeymoon. and if so...
all this will be in addition to the pieces that already reside at Stonehenge, Avebury, Chichen Itza, a stone temple in Tahiti, and Sedona.
so i'm starting to realize that when we're doing magick at the garden, as we connect to the stones so are we connecting to some of the great spiritual centers of the Earth!
(now, if i can only meet someone going to the Pyramids, Brigid's Well, Mecca, or Jerusalem... )
oooh, i'm all a-twitter!

Wow! That's really neat! The nearest thing I've done like that doesn't even come close--I collected wildflower seeds on my trip to the UK.
But, wow, Greenman!:) That's so wonderful!

My grandmother, a bit of a garden witch, though she didn't call herself that, actually started doing that for my cousins, my sister and I when we were young. Where ever she travelled, she'd bring back a rock. I have adopted the habit. I have little rocks everywhere!
You're right, they are great for aiding magic - I have some from the beach near where my BF lives, and I carry them everywhere, to help get me there permenantly faster.
I also have some on my altar right now from the shores of Ireland that my Mom brought me back last fall, along with an Irish sea god carving.

D'fly got a letter from her boss today. the stones she took with her have been placed at the Temple of Hercules and at the Temple of Fortuna. she also picked up some stones from there, as well as from Pompeii and the Vatican!
she gets home on Monday, and i can't wait until they're at the garden!

Wow! I'm so excited for you! That is too cool!!!!
Monday, a friend and I went hiking thru beautiful Jubilee Park and splashing in Kickapoo Creek. We picked up several stones, and on the way home, stopped to buy mums from a home-grower. The place is amazing! The man that built the house long ago also built a circular stone garden, and a squared-off arch to drive thru that sparkles in the sun. (I can't begin to descripe the garden or arch; it is something to behold!) Anyway, the lady that lives there now saw the rocks we had picked up, and darted away for a moment. She came back with a 6 pound chunk of rose quartz, which she put in my arms. The arch is made of rose and crystal quartz; she gave each of us a small piece of crystal, also... We were stunned! (My friend is a natural healer and an amazingly powerful wound witch...and a physical therapist.) We figured that since we had been deep in the woods and in the creek, our energies must have been way high, (we were postively giddy) and the lady responded to them....(We'd never met her before.) We giggled and clutched our crystals all the way home...

oh, this just keeps getting better!
a friend from another site who lives in Sweden just got back from a trip to Gotland, and island off the coast of Sweden which is where the Elder Futhark was discovered.
she just wrote to tell me that she is sending me some stones from there for the garden!
and earthcat, that arch sounds absolutely amazing!

It is... I've got to go back and get better pics....
I love to see your garden.... *wistful sigh*
But you'd probably wouldn't want me fondling all your rocks... ;)

Belive me, earthcat is a big rock freak, I remember when I was young, she would come home from the lake (a local swimming place) and she would have the purse she was carrying loaded with rocks. And I know the arch you are talking about, it is completly awsome. (Love ya Auntie Earthcat!!!)
Garden sounds completly neat with all the stones, and Earthcat, you shouldn't fondle other peoples rocks, it's not polite, especially in public!!!

I believe my baby, Freyja,(I believe you are familiar with her by now)
collects rocks from where ever she goes. For her "fairy" garden.
Found her a nice one down in the woods at tributary of the illinois
river.;)

this is Liebe, our magickal Aussie (taken from the south)...

this is the inner circle, with the firepit (seen from the west altar)...

and this is the newest addition. i like this stone, it's very 'feminine' (it's in the NE crossquarter)...

well, this time tomorrow night my friends will be in Lima, Peru. and in their pockets are about 9 pieces of our lintel stone, to be placed at a number of sacred sites there, including Nazca and Machu Pichu!
they will be at Machu Pichu next Wednesday for the Full Moon, and we will be having a corresponding ritual at the garden that night. and when they get back (the day before Beltane), we'll have pieces of those places here too!
this is so exciting!
the circle keeps getting bigger, and as i stand in one place, i feel like i am also at the places where the stones have been taken as well (Rome, Stonehenge, Chichen Itza, Sedona...)

I used to live in Aloha near Beaverton....
   8O THis is TOO weird! I live in Cedar Mills...which is next door to Aloha and N. of Beaverton. Perhaps you heard of Cedar Mill Crossing apts? That's where I work and live!
And Greenman!!! Yoooou...! I remember you telling me about your yard last year. Now the cats out of the bag! So, when are you going to invite me down to check this out? My invitation is still out there if you ever get up here and have some time. I'm e-mailing you my new phone # just in case. ;)
If you ever want to put a crystal in the southern hemisphere I have a friend that lives in Rio de J. whom I could mail it to. Tis a druid like us also.
Peace,
Twig

you are certainly welcome to visit Twig, and take a piece home with you (do you have a car yet?). and yeah, Rio sounds like a nice place to send one!
but it seems silly that you're less than an hour away and you haven't been down!
anyway, if you don't make it down sooner, know that you have a standing invitation for Samhain (which is the biggest thing we do there).
PS- you're welcome to Skye, but NOT if you're wearing a Packers hat! (go Niners!!!)

Wow...wonderful idea...
and
Azure - my grandmother used to do the same thing. Particularly bringing different rocks from various spots in the river that ran near her home. I remember when I was little asking why she did that...
she told me that a river is never the same place twice...therefore the stones werent either..for they were touched differently every moment..
"quite a bit-o-magick in that.."
she'd say.
Wonder if it's an Irish thing?
*wink*
