:(

... no one to make fun of auto-erotic asphyxia anymore... (hopes the other awesome old comedian Lewis Black fulfills his "bastard's live forever" theory)

this is sad... the ultimate icon of the politically incorrect.

not all of his shit was funny (although most of it was hilarious!), but almost all of it was relevent. i will miss him a lot.

RIP, hippie dippie dude!

A true genius in his craft.
He had a great way at looking at life's nonsense and then find humor in it.
He will be missed. :(

While not really unexpected, this is horrible news. Ironically, I mentioned in an LJ post last month when Harvey Korman died, that when George went the world would a much less funny place and probably would not be able to recover the lost laughter.

Sadly, that day came much, much too soon.

He was a genius and even if certain ideas weren't funny, they were always important.

RIP George.

Bill & Ted will miss you and so will the rest of us.

An online friend of mine posted this on another site..and I cried as I read it. :(

There is no doubt that the world lost one of her best comedians. Carlin may have been crusty and in one's face but he was an absolute genius when it came to comedy. May his journey and transition be peaceful and may he be welcomed by loved ones on the other side. May his family be comforted knowing he and his work was loved by many and may they find peace with their deity.

Carlin was definately an irreverant genius....nothing was sacred and that why he rocked.

The void wont be filled.

Aw, I just recently discovered that guy, my son and I listened to Class Clown over and over. I was awed by his irreverence and his cleverness. He was at such a golden time in his life, saw him on The View a few months back and he was in a good place. May he rest in peace.

So what are your favorit George Carlin quotes?

Here's to S, P, F, C, CS,MF and T.

Favorite Carlin segments - "Capitol Punishment" and "Religion"

(I'd hack them to death trying to quote them adequately...)

Goerge was there before I was born and it is sad to me that he has passed. In his humor I found much that I had also thought noteworthy. In addition to being one of the funniest mother lovers I had ever heard, there was intelligence and philosophy.

So to honor the man whose humor took me laughing through some of the darkest stages of my own life, I present a collection of quotes about death from George himself.

At a formal dinner party, the person nearest death should always be seated closest to the bathroom.
Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time.
The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...

...and you finish off as an orgasm.
Thanks for the laughs and the learning, George, you will be greatly missed.

(Now come on folks - It's GC... so there will be swearing, crude but direct references left and right that just might lead to smiling and laughing in most people. If that stuff offends you - don't follow the link. But then, if it did - you probably wouldn't be following this tread anyways, right?
