Hi,
I've been undergoing testing and right now I am wearing a cardiac event monitor. I have LESS THAN A DAY to go.

I HOPE SOMETHING REALLY SHOWS UP ON THIS THING SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON!

PLEASE DON'T HELP 'HEAL ME' JUST YET, OR IT WON'T SHOW UP AND THEY MIGHT THINK I'M NUTS IN THE CARDIOLOGIST'S OFFICE,

BUT PLEASE HAVE IT SO SOMETHING WILL SHOW UP FOR THEM TO READ ON THIS THING (IF IT HASN'T ALREADY).

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

I know what you mean! On Thursday & Friday last week I had to wear a 24 hour EEG (ambulatory) to see if they could catch any seizure activity (I even had to wear 2 heart monitors on top of the 22+ head ones). I wanted something to show up (and even purposefully did things I know would trigger them, like watch the shower...weird I know :2G: ) because the DR would be able to help me better, knowing the focus on the seizures and if it was anything more serious...but at the same time I didn't because that means there's an actual problem, you know?

I hope that if something is already wrong/there it does show up, because that's the most helpful thing for the DRs. But I don't hope it's anything serious! --for you OR me.

I don't know how diagnosing cardiology works, but my neurologist told me even without the EEG evidence showing any activity, he'd still diagnose my problem as (simple partial) seizures given my history, symptoms, etc.

Hopefully if they don't catch anything with you, they don't brush you off and ignore your concerns. Just because something wasn't caught on the monitor doesn't mean it's not there.

Good luck!

I'm confused. If something shows up thats horrible, isn't that bad opposed to nothing showing up at all and you being perfectly healthy? Your post sounded to me like you were afraid to be thought of as crazy moreso than something being wrong.

Anyways I hope everything works out for you.

Well for me, I'm having seizures daily, so to get the activity to show up on the EEG would be helpful for my neurologist to know why, where (the focus) and how often I'm having them. It can help with treatment and other things. That's a good thing, helping with my treatment and providing more info. Going though all that and coming out empty handed because by chance nothing was picked up would sort of bother me. Would I have to do it again? What does that mean? Etc.

My point is if you do have a problem (odds are of someone is getting 24+ hour monitoring EEG, EKG or otherwise it's a big possiblity--DRs don't do these tests for no reason) it's best to get it caught on the monitoring--remember, that's the point of it, to catch your problem, whatever that may be. I don't know about the cardiac angle as much as the neurological, but I assume it can really help pinpoint what's wrong with the heart, what functions are off, how often etc. Neurologists, from what I understand use EEGs to determine if something is a seizure or not, only when it involves pseudo-seizures...most of the time they're under the working theory that the person does have some type of seizure problem and they want to get the data on it to move further in diagnosis and treatment.

I don't wish anything serious to be found, but really, getting the problem caught ahead of time (because as I said, these tests are given out casually from my understanding, you need to see specialists, etc), rather than down the road when it might be too late sounds good to me. Things could than be done, action can be taken, etc.

Kay so I understand that it`s expensive yeah? But...wait...What? You want to be sick? I`m praying for your health anyway because I`d rather you were perfectly healthy rather than ill.

You know, it dosen`t have to be a major illness to feel sick and no one is ever going to think your crazy for paying attention to how you feel inside..

But don`t even wish you were sick. That makes me sad.

From my personal experiences (with my recent 24 hour EEG) and understanding, I don't believe she wishes to be sick. I think people are not understanding...!

I don't wish I was sick, but the fact of the matter is I have seizures daily (how do we know she doesn't have heart issues often?), I needed to see a specialist, I was given DRs orders to get a 24 hour EEG, because of the reasons I posted, I want that EEG to show my problem -- the where, what, why and how of it so help my DR better diagnose and treat me. What good is that if nothing shows up? The point of them is to show something, to better help the DR. I assume it's the same with her.

Generally you have to go to a specialist to get these tests done, that means there's a very high likelihood and possiblity for a problem to be there, if not a problem already manifested. In my view, if there is something wrong, I'd want it to be caught on the monitor so my DRs can help me better.

Hope that makes sense, Aimee.

They know I have SOMETHING wrong causing the problems I'm having...it just would be more helpful if it would happen WHILE I'M WEARING THE MONITOR, INSTEAD OF THE DAY AFTER I TAKE IT OFF...

MAKES SENSE, RIGHT?:)

No..your original thread made it sound like you just didn't want your doctor to think you were insane. If he knows something is wrong why would he think you're insane? Makes sense right?

Exactly. I thought so.
Same for me.

Which was what I was trying to explain before, these tests aren't given out casually, it takes specialists and a good reason why-- generally the person is exhibiting some problem already-- and to know exactly what the problem is and to get more info about it, 24+ monitoring is given.

I hope that your monitor picks up what ever is wrong with you and that they are able to begin medical treatment:thumbsup:

I've been there with a 24 hour Holter...didn't pick up squat that 24 hours:eyebrow: even I still get the same symptoms :meanhead:

I hope your doctor finds what is wrong with you, and you get better. How about that? That covers it, right? lol :hugz:

I'm hoping that if there is something wrong that the doctors find it. And if there is something wrong, it is easily treatable and you can live your life to the fullest.

Positive and comforting energy, warm thoughts and prayers sent to you, Claire. :hugz:
