I was wondering if anyone here does Kolaimni. I'm trying to find out what the difference between Kolaimni and Reiki is--if there is a difference.

As far as I can see from what they actually "are" in practice, there isn't a difference between them. However, with Kolaimni I do see some references to ancient Atlantis.

I wonder how credible Kolaimni is as an original healing method as it seems to have first appeared in the 1980's and there is no visbile heirachy of it's origins before that. In short I think someone has learnt Reiki and changed the name to make it something "new" which is different to Reiki.

The woman that teaches it received it in a vision and she's from here in West Virginia. I am trying to look the other way on the Atlantis stuff. The Kolaimni people are too newagey for my tastes, but I have a friend that does it and many friends who swear by it.

My problem is that I don't know enough about Reiki to know how similar they are. It seems to me that Kolaimni is much more spiritual--but since I don't know much about Reiki, I really can't make that call and that's why I asked here :)

Does it work?

Probably. It's still drawing on energy, just like reiki and umpteen other methods.

Seems a bit fluffy though, "I was given a vision from ancient Atlantis that told me how to heal people." Right, ok...and it just so happens you're using a technique that is already used by umpteen thousand people and is already called umpteen different things. It's all just energy and intent.

But yes, it most likely works. I just find it shameful that the woman teaching it had to deceive people as to it's origins. But then if she wants to make any money from it she's going to have to give it that extra bit of glamour...

Did that sound cynical? :ggrief:

From what I know of her, she's not in it for the money. She's not rich by any means and genuinely believes in what she teaches and where it came from. I don't believe she is deceiving anyone.

Your response is not so cynical as disrespectful, I think. I'm so glad I could rely on the good ol' members of Mysticwicks to turn my honest inquiry into something negative. Thanks a bushel!

Seems I missed answering the question on spirituality in Reiki. From personal experience and what I've seen, Reiki is incredibly spiritual. It's had quite large effects on the lives of those who practice it, causing many changes both around them in the physical world and in their own mind and soul.

I think I've answered all your questions now, but please do tell me if I missed one.

If you have any more, I'll be glad to help as I am sure others will too.

My question of "does it work" was meant to try and flesh out what, if any, experiences anyone had with Kolaimni to see if it had similarities or differences from Reiki and/or other systems of energy work. I myself work Sekhem healing energy which has subtle as well as marked differences from Reiki. I'm not at all familiar with Kolaimni and would love to know what experiences there have been or what has been learned of that specific system.

Not all energy systems utilize the source's energy in the same manner. I don't believe that makes them all different, but worthy of discussing the merits of their respective methods and delivery systems.

I'm off to do the google research now, but I would still love to hear any personal insights.
