The Goddess speaks?

For some time I've been searching for my patron goddess. I've done research on different pantheons, but nothing really struck me. Lately, however, I started a new job and needed strength, courage and confidence. I decided that it would be a good idea to pray to Atena for these qualities. And just when the idea of choosing Her as my patron goddes began to appeal to me, cats started to appear.

In my neighbourhood there are a lot of cats, cause we feed the wild ones, and during the winter they sleep in the basements. But I think there were never as many cats around as there are now. Or maybe I didn't pay that much attention to them. Every day on my way to work in exactly the same place I see a cat. It could be possible that it just lives nearby, but every time it's a different cat. Sometimes it's a grown cat, sometimes a small kitten. They have different fur colours. And it doesn't matter if I go to work at 7 am or 1pm, always in the same place there is a cat.

My question is: is it possible that Bast started "speaking" to me when I wanted to choose another goddes as my patron? When I see the cat on my way to work it seems as if someone (Bast?)wanted to tell me: "I'm with you today as I was yesterday and as I will be tomorrow." And what was the first thing I saw when I left the house today (I didn't go to work today)? A cat, of course.

Or maybe it's just my imagination, cause I was looking for my matron for so long?

Since all these cats are around you, maybe Bast would be a good choice for you. In my opinion, these cats have special symbolism for you. You have noticed them for a reason right now. Also, besides being associated with deities, the cat may be your power animal. I would read up about the symbolism of cats in the divination forum.

Emaleth - it doesn't matter so much if you can be sure she was outright calling you, really. You pick up on the cats for a reason, and if they give you comfort or remind you of Bast definitely spend a lot of time researching her. You don't have to be called by a deity for them to be your matron, in fact my first was one I chose and invited into my life. One tip; look at her from an ancient egyptian/kemetic perspective, the popular info available about her doesn't touch all she is - she is much much more then a goddess of cats.

Jackie - please don't type in all caps hon, it's like yelling on the online world, ya know? Your friend in your dream could be a spirit guide, a deity, or who knows what. I get the feeling it doesn't matter; she's just a messenger. Have you been doing research about Thor? I'd say you should definitely do so and look into this. Research can't hurt either way :)

Yep, cats are special for me, my love for them is kind of hopeless, cause I know that probably I will never be able to have my own cat as a pet:( .

Raevyn, thanks for the tip, I'm going to do some more research on Bast before inviting Her to my life. And I'm going to continue to read about other pantheons.
