I know to some of you this will sound silly and trivial but it's major for me.
My son leaves tomorrow morning for college. I know it's time for him to go out in the world and spread his wings and i want him to but dannggggggg, letting him go is tough. My son and I have never been apart for more than a couple of nights. He's not only my first born, he's one of my best friends. We've been through a lot together and there's times I know I wouldn't have made it through without him.
His little sisters (6 and 8) are having a tough time too. They worship their big brother. He's the only babysitter they've ever had and he's always been there for them.
If you don't mind, please send your prayers and energies for strength and comfort for us. Also energies for a safe trip for him and that his transition goes smoothly. Thank you all..:weirdsmil

Silly?? You have got to be kidding, every mother goes through it. You are so not alone in this!!!! It is totally normal. And very usual to ask for some help in it. :uhhuhuh: Nothing silly about it, it is downright painful.

Thank you Lorrie!! I guess I think it's silly because my dear hubby just laughs at me over this.

*sending your family comforting energy*
I imagine it will be hard for your son at first, too. I remember when I went away to college ~15 years ago, I visited home after only two weeks and gave my dad the biggest hug after I got off the plane.

Aw, when my dad dropped me off at college I cried for hours after he was gone! Sending energy to sooth the pain of detachment!

Thank you all!!
My son and I spent some quality time together today and had a real heart to heart this evening. It was wonderful!
Reality hit my daughters and they are heartbroken. My son sat down with them and told them he won't be gone forever, he'll come home as often as he can and we'll go visit him.
We dread tomorrow morning but we'll adjust and be just fine..

My baby has spread his wings and left the nest. I'm so very proud of him for what he's accomplished and the young man he's become. I know he'll do well and make all his dreams come true...
