Recently I've very much been active in a wooded area near my home, which is fairly undisturbed and absolutely brimming with life and energies of all sorts. I've been becoming much more interested in learning about/communicating with the kinds of spiritual beings may be in the area, whether they're fey or something else entirely. I was just wondering what kind of experiences others may have had with woodland spirits and would love to hear any information about them people have to share - any kind of nature spirit, I just wanna know. :) Thanks!

That really is a very interesting article, thank you!

Well, I know that there are Fae in my back yard and I see evidence of them in the feel of the place and the little mushroom rings that pop up every year. I give them offerings every year and thank them for protecting my land. I invite them in to live as they wish as long as they do not wish any living being in the house harm. I also do not use pesticides or chemicals in any of my gardens or on the lawn.

Other than that, when I am in wooded areas I usually get more of a sense of the feel of the Land rather than any specific entities. I try and open myself to that and let it know that I am there out of respect and love.

I try to honour the nymphs when I go to numinous places in the woods.
In the past me and friends have taken honey and left it at the base of particularly beautiful trees as an offering.

I've had great success interacting with the woodland spirits when I've gone out giving offerings and with deep appreciation and respect.

Having a sense of awe and wonder at the beauty of the wild has been most helpful to me as has doing meditative energy walks.

Singing, giving reiki and blessings always helps too.

I've seen some pretty amazing nature spirits and have recieved beautiful healing energy from the plants and trees.

ground with a tree. Its amazing and connects you to the forest.

I leave small offerings, however I leave them alone. I let them chose to show them selves. And though I know I have inside friends, I never aknolege them at all. I don't want them to go away. As to nature, I will just find a quite spot in my woodland/marshy area, leave a offering and sit quitely listening to the world around me.
I have in the past talked to them. Never seen, but talked. But my current location is too close to mankind and I don't think there is much more than a Hobgoblin or two.

I believe trees/rocks/etc have spirits inside them, I guess they could be called dryads or fairies, they're all pretty nice to me. :)

heres a poetic version of my experiences....

"Animal Spirits"

As a child, I used to run with wild animals over the hills and through the woods
We were at one with each other and enjoyed our time in nature as often as we could
We talked of the ancestors, the shadowy creatures in the haze
And how on the full moon of each month they would appear and run as they did in their day
The spirit animals were old and wise yet appeared as in their prime
They were quiet and kept their distance yet one could hear the stories like silent cries
Stories of their past and stories of their kills
Stories of their offspring still running over the hills
A lot can be learned from listening to cries upon the wind
They’re gone but not forgotten like a circle never ends

I have one that visits when I meditate by the creek in my yard.

Back when I lived in the teeny-tiny town far from big towns, there was a marvelous pasture with a grove of trees that we used to visit. We would go and sit and meditate and commune with nature. Just walking through the area we often sensed a dryad or two and even a satyr. But the most awesome spirit there was a huge cottonwood tree. It took 10 of us holding hands to circle the base of that tree. We took a photo one time with about a dozen of us sitting up in the branches. Sitting quietly at the base of that tree and listening to it took a lot of patience. A tree that old isn't in any hurry to do anything, so it took quite a while to share thoughts with it. But it was definately a great experience to do that.
